JYP never wrote for them or was involved in their production. The songs are written by themselves and they often work with the same producer. Writing the songs themselves was one of the conditions for them to debut.
He was right about Sweet Chaos that JYP had an influence tho. Young K said so himself. He didn't approve the first version they submitted for this since they were actually going for a more jazzy vibe. JYP gave quite a lot of pointers for how they should change it. They rewrote the music and this was how it turnd out. They also have a song they cowrote with him called Chocolate. Please don't mislead people. But yes Day6 members wrote all their songs.

Actually JYP doesn't really touch Day6's music except maybe to comment and approve it for release. In fact, they write their own music alongside some producers. There is indeed a full english version of Zombie with a lyric video!
0:45 Young K isn't actually their lead singer... mostly because they don't _have_ one. They all play pretty equal share in the singing, with the exception of drummer Dowoon... though since undergoing vocal training a couple of years ago, I think we're gonna be hearing even more from his gorgeous voice, too. Young K is their bassist and sometime rapper, Sungjin is on guitar, and Wonpil on keys and synths. Jae was another guitarist, but is no longer with the band. 10:25 They are _brilliant_ live. I actually saw them at the beginning of 2020 in London; they were the last show I saw before lockdowns happened. 17:30 They actually pronounce it both ways, but I think it's personal. I definitely caught Young K using "zombee" near the beginning, and Sungjin and Wonpil are using "zombeh" here...
You really pick up DAY6 at a very right time!!! They will have comeback next month with new music, after a freaking 3 years w/o new music due to military enlistment.

Day6 debuted in 2015 but they started to get recognized these years during their military hiatus. They couldn't promote any of the songs because of the hiatus, but their music is doing it for them. It's rare to get recognized when a group is on a hiatus, usually group's popularity goes down when they go to serve their military duty, but Day6 songs actually reentering the chart even experienced chart reversal during their military hiatus.. imo this can happen because their song is timeless, and Day6 has been writing and composing their own music. Their 2 song which going viral in south korea right now is You were Beautiful and Time of Our Life, check it out, it's good. Also they are gonna make their long awaited comeback on march 18! Day6 have an alternative rock foundation but they really play in whatever genre that interests them. They've got some really heavy/experimental songs as well as easy listening songs....JYPE over the years mostly only let Day6 create whatever they wanted, but with SKZ and now Xdinary Heroes (the little brother band to Day6), more and more of their artists have freedom to create music that connects with themselves and their audiences and it really pays off in creating original pieces. Definitely agree with others to check out more Day6 and I'd also recommend their little brothers, Xdinary Heroes. XH is definitely more punk/rock influenced. For XH, I'd recommend Strawberry Cake, Break the Break, and Pluto. YoungK wrote a song called "Good Enough" with XH (very soft/haunting song) which I also recommend for the juxtaposition. Fun side note to wrap the JYP Family even closer: Seungmin of SKZ is the designated president of MyDay (the Day6 fan name) as he has been obsessed since before he joined JYPE. He and HAN have done a couple Day6 covers (he did a live version of Zombie with Chan as well) because he is such a fan. When Seungmin wrote his first solo, he specifically chose to work with one of the producers Day6 collabs with for that band sound. YoungK and Bang Chan lived together when they were both trainees (YoungK is 4 years older) and the stories YoungK tells about those years is so cute because it was obvious YK had such a big bro fondness for Chan from the start.
OMG!!! I thought that the reactions to Day6 will never comeback... 😭 So thank you fort this 😖 By the way, One TMI about this kband is the fact that Seungmin from Stray Kids a really fan of them hahaha and some people sometimes say that Wonpil (the keybord guy) and Seungmin are kinda similar 😂

One of the things the Korean music industry is known for is the short period of time between new music releases from an artist. Equipped with a new song, music video, and B-tracks of about 3-4 songs; fans could see their favorite artist releasing something new every 3-6 months as opposed to every other year. DAY6 decided to take a very new approach to this traditional practice. Instead of releasing a track sparingly (as they did when they debuted), they promised that in 2017, they would release one title track with a music video and one B-side track every month for the entire year. In addition to these releases, would also be holding a concert to accommodate each new addition to the project. It was risky, but proved to be something special. They are genius!
I`m glad that you liked them and I`m kind of envious, cos you have so many DAY6`s songs to discover. I really want to erase it from my memory and to listen all their discography for the first time (again). DAY6 - it`s the band which has a very creative way to express music. There`s so many little things that make me in love with their songs. It`s not just commercial music - THIS IS THE ART!
You picked up on Day6's fantastic songwriting. YoungK is an intelligent artist. They had a project called Every Day6 where they released 1 new title track, B-side, and MV every month for a year. Totally bananas, but you can see they're outstanding creators.
They sound great and have a nice balance in their songs - well at least in these two... I will discover lots more of their discography..... and maybe even try myself at a cover of Zombie.... who knows :)
not to mention they also had concerts every month for that whole year. They had to juggle all that WHILE Young K was attending university lmao. I seriously can't believe how he managed to do all those while still being a student (And even graduating!) man is insane.

Someone might have already mentioned this in the comments, but no, JYP has no hand in DAY6's discography except in helping decide which songs will be confirmed or not. The boys have explained before that, since they weren't the typical Kpop group who sing and dance, there was only 1 condition for their debut: They needed to be able to make music that's at par with or better than JYPe's professional producers, and now, they're about to celebrate their 9th anniversary. DAY6 is truly one of a kind 🩵
I love Zombie. Also love Seungmin and Bang Chan rendition of their song. You should check out Xdinary Heroes which is JYP's New Boy Band. Strayberry Cake, Freaking Bad, Good Enough, and Dear H. . ..Also Boy Story Alpha which just dropped 2 weeks ago.

probably why you noticed that they have that jyp sound was because, even though as many said here that jyp doesnt really write their music, day6's producer and long time collaborator han jisung also produces for other jyp groups hehe
HOW DID I MISS THIS!?!?! And YES, there is an English version! Day6, my top 6 groups. Found them because SEUNGMIN is their unofficial fan club president. SEUNGMIN and HAN have done covers as well as LEE KNOW recently with LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME. They just released a new album as 4.

If you want to react to them singing live, I recommend the video titled 'DAY6 performs "You Were Beautiful (예뻤어)" & "Time of Our Life (한 페이지가 될 수 있게)"', because there is a small interview at the end of the video where you'll get to know them a little bit better, and also because they're amazing songs! They're having a comeback next month, hope to see you reacting :) EDIT: They actually just realeased their new album and with it a Dingo Music episode just like a Killing Voice!! The first one (I think) with a band! I think it's a must, because you'll get to know a lot of their songs in 20 minutes with them playing the instruments and singing :)
K-rock bands are so underrated. Another great band that I like are called Xdinary Heros from Studio J which is a sub label under JYP. They debuted on Dec. 6 2021 and they did a stray kids hellevator cover and g-idle tomboy cover. I hope you can check them out in the future.

Day6 is a pop-rock band under JYP Entertainment. They debuted in 2015 with their song "Congratulations," which I strongly recommend next. It's probably one of my favorite debut songs, and I'm not biased when I say that. In the span of 9 years, they have released four studio albums, one live album, two compilation albums, seven extended plays, and twenty-four singles. Day6 has an absolutely amazing discography, so any song I recommend would be good. Still, I will recommend some of my favorites: "I Wait," "You Were Beautiful," "Shoot Me," "Days Gone By," "Time of Our Life," "How Can I Say," "I'm Serious," "Letting Go," "I Smile," and "Dance Dance." Even with that I would recommend maybe at some later point to listen to their albums in full, especially the Book of Us series: "The Book of Us: Gravity," "The Book Of Us: Entropy," "The Book of Us: The Demon," "The Book of Us: Negentropy,"and also "Moonrise," and "Sunrise." They also have some English versions of their songs, which I think are amazing: "Congratulations" (Studio Live), "You Were Beautiful" (Studio Live), and "Zombie" (Lyric Video). If you are interested in their live performances, they actually have a lot posted on their official Day6 channel from their tours and stuff, so if you want, you can also check them out. They are an amazing group to see live.Exept that they have a lot of solo covers (especially YoungK) that you can found on youtube and even their subunit songs : 해변의 달링 and "Right Through Me" (underrated gems) A short introduction to the members: 3:30 - Of course, you know Young K, the bassist. He's, in my opinion, the soul of the band as the main lyricist (Day6 being known for their beautiful lyrics). He lived for some years in Canada, so he's fluent in English. 4:20 - Wonpil: the keyboardist, beautiful voice, a very positive and kind person. 4:36 - Sungjin, rhythm guitarist, leader, main vocalist known for a strong, rough voice. 4:39 - Dowoon, the drummer. 5:49 - Jae, lead guitarist, face of the group. He's from California, now a former member as of 2022. Except for Dowoon, everyone sings in all of their songs. It's a band with multiple vocalists, and they all have their unique tone. They haven't had a comeback since "Make Me Feel" two years ago. It's sad, but a lot of stuff happened in 2021: Jae left the band as he was not happy with the management, and Young K enlisted in the military. But finally, this March, they're going to have a comeback (and also the first comeback without Jae). So support the talent that is Day6, everyone! :)
