The only bad thing about this show is knowing it will come to an end.. both watching this and the original playthrough is some of the best content on YT... thank you Day9 you rock.
Job Search Tip: I made an email filter that looked for all the standard rejection phrases ("we got so many applicants!" "no longer hiring for this position" "we'll keep your resume on file" etc.) and made it skip the inbox and throw those messages into another folder. This way I could see if I had unread messages in my little poo brown Rejections folder and decide whether or not I was emotionally ready to look at them. It substantially helped my mood while hunting for over a year.
Nice, just as I was looking for something to watch, Day9 uploaded! Also regarding the ongoing discussion of pacing/"interesting things" that you find in the base game vs the DLC as you explore, I'm basically in the middle. In the base game, at some point the number of catacombs were a bit too much, especially since so many of them are quite similar. But like Sean, I also feel that while the DLC has a huge map, sometimes you're travellig for a long time before you get to anything interesting, and in the Abyss area especially you start to feel like there isn't much point to exploring. Which is a shame and something that was never an issue in the base game for me. I really look forward to what From does with their next game, because if they combine the fantastic verticality in the DLC with a better balance of dungeons/catacombs from the base game, it's going to be incredible in terms of exploration. (I felt the open world and wide range of weapons/play styles made ER so accessible compared to the other Souls games, and would love to see that continue.) For the talismans since he's finally getting rid of the soreseal, I'm really hoping that he takes a look at the Pearl Shield Talisman, which IMO works great with his build since he could use a boost with magic defence. (I'm also wondering if he'll ever go back to speak with Thollier since he just skipped him at the grace for some reason haha.)
i feel the abyss is the zone where that is the real problem, i wanted it to have been a lot longer of a experience down there to get to midra, without torrent especially you feel it even more.
In regards topic of motivation and your comments on small goals - I read something once that stuck with me: "Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly."
2:05:10 this random comment is much more important than people might think. The Kingdom of loathing, west of loathing and shadows over loathing is a series that is unbelievably, witty and hilarious. From my experience, I suggest you play west of loathing which is a turn-based RPG with a ludicrous amount of secrets and just insane levels of wit. The game is quite easy. If I saw that you were playing it, I would sign up for it in a heartbeat.
I easily wasted hundreds of hours on KoL 2004-2012. I loved it. Funny writing and surprising depth. But it's a game I've learned to never suggest. I don't know anyone IRL who played it more than a couple weeks, and the actual game structure's pretty hostile, to the point that even as someone who loved it, I'd pretty much read and click through each adventure/monster once or twice, then use third-party software to automate the gameplay itself. (A lot of in-game status trackers and timing decisions aren't even visible from the native interface.) And most of the crunchy fiddly fun bits of the game itself happened on MS Excel, with the wiki open in the background. Seems kinda opposite what a game streamer is going to want to mess with. But I am curious about Shadows, and I'd like to give it a try. I don't even know genre of game to expect, but I've heard people warm enough on it that I'd like to give Loathing another visit
It's a real pitty sean doesn't get to have the best interaction with the best NPC in all Souls Games.. just because he has a hard time with one of the easiest enemy types.. Dragons. Get off the horse, hit it's legs. Dodge. But in other news, the advice about narrowing down when you feel bad or sad is great. If you have a ton of stuff to do and you just CANNOT for whatever reason. Focus on the smallest, simplist thing and just do that. You'll feel better immediately and you may even end up getting into a nice work flow afterwards. I apply this to writting, somedays I can't, I just CAN't. But if I force mysef to think about a character or a place and just make myself write a sentence. I have overcome the problem, with a single sentence. Sometime when I was younger that kind of block could last weeks, not it often only lasts 1 day.
I am on my knees begging you to make this playlist in chronological order, youtube does not give us tools to reverse it so your upload strategy means the most recent video is always at the top of the playlist and there's no built in way to just watch them from start to current.
