Early air rangers were regged and later models had the Harper slingshot valve which was deemed to be so efficient it didn’t need a reg. Also the early models didn’t have the barrel bands that the later model had. My air ranger shoots most pellets including 10gr Zan slugs, it’s my back up hft rifle to my ratworks BSA R10. The rowan engineering single shot adapter is well worth extra money.
Great review , Shame about the mags , I dont have that problem with my Air Wolf. Good to see you back as i am catching up with the videos that i have missed . I promise i will send you a rifle to review when i ever get round to it 👍
Hi Edgar, thanks and good to hear from you again. Happy to review rifles for you but I now charge to create reviews. If you're still interested give me a call and I'll give you my rates. All the best.
Im in the USA, I have one that is over a decade old, has had over 150,000 shots thru it. I recently replaced the breech block with new from factory. The trigger is not the best in my opinion, however... it shoots lights out spot on and I have won a wall full of Field Target matches with it. I added an Altaros external bottle reg and that made a big diff with shot count and accuracy. I shoot it 20ft lbs using (13.4 gr @820fps). Carbon fiber bottle, hugget shroud with moderator makes it very quiet. Adjustable rowan eng butt stock and single shot tray as well. Any my stock has etched Daystate in the stock under Air Ranger. Very nice
bought a pre owned RedWolf last summer and had exactly the same problems with the supplied Mag's, the mags were mismatched anyway so that one wouldn't even fit the gun, and the other wouldn't index as the indexing spring on the Rifle itself was incorrect tension. Luckily having bought it from an RFD we were able to sort most of this, but in the end I decided to go with the new style flip open mags, these are great, the only problem since was when I inadvertantly activated the Shot count feature on the Rifle, lot's of panic lol, but easily sorted.... Rifle has since been spot on and definitely a keeper.
Forgot my original question , watched this on the telly in bed and commented on phone after , so forgot to ask ... why did you use the LRG ( sure it was ) for the accuracy test when the JSB Exacts clearly grouped the best . Or did you feel It didn't really matter which pellet you chose out of the grouping test? Just wondering.
Two reasons, if it wasn't for the indexing issues with the mags I believed they would group better, and being stubby with more thickness to the skirt, I felt that they would hold their shape better when I tried to load them. The JSBs are too soft.
They say the daystate / brocock ( BRK ) magazines are the best out there ... I disagree , ive had a few duffers both from Brocock AND Daystate , weak springs , springs oversprung , mis - alignment .. not very good in my opinion ... well , it ain't so much an opinion as a fact .. that said , the new 13 shot mags are immeasurably better
I had no doubt about the accuracy of the AirRanger well before I saw the vid .. as All my Daystates are incredibly accurate ( mainly with single shot loaders ) and excellent build quality ... but yeah ! apart from the recent batch of rifles , the mags do let them down .. was going to buy the Mrs one for her birthday , but she's a lever woman ( her BSA CLX put her off bolt action rifles , and believe me the CLX was AWFUL in MANY respects .. pellets falling back into block and jamming being but one failure ) so think its gonna be a Daystate wolverine " C " with side lever .. was a fantastic ( as usual ) review ...
@@theGunLocker Must add , I bought a aftermarket 13 shot mag for my Redwolf , from a company called Element ( sure its Element , I'll double check ) was ok to start with , but now its mis - aligned somehow .. wouldn't even probe the last pellet , I suppose a lesson has been learnt , don't go half price , buy an original , nevertheless im gonna take it apart to see if I can match it back up ..
I’d throw that in the bin! Daystate are overrated in my opinion, over priced and customer service isn’t the best. Shame really because some of the guns are lovely looking.
