I have an issue, how do you learn the map, I keep dying before I see two towns and it's just so time consuming. Should I just do a dry run and not loot and try to familiarize myself with the map?

follow power lines, clouds always travel east, you always spawn facing north, stars at night travel west, the north star is just above the dipper.
