Wobo please they have mixed livonia and cherno maps on xbox. 185 pages and they no longer tell you if it's livonia or cherno map. It needs to be fixed we have no idea what map we are going into.

​@@fishingsouthwestflorida1586 It' possible that they're extending the "player bubble" but not likely as when I've set the player bubble even to 3km in 1.25 the amount of data expands big time. For a 3km network bubble it expands by 10x. I adjusted my networkRange object batch send parameters to compensate which helps the server performance (i.e. frames) but still uses way more bandwidth. Google "DayZ Server Configuration networkRange" Also, we technically already have servers that have even greater view distances. My personal server has 8000m view distance BUT that's just static elements. Dynamic elements are controlled those networkRange params (of which there are many). The issue currently is most server owners go with the defaults which out of the box are around ~1400m on the server and 1400m on the client. See my other comment left here for more details but also google "DayZ draw distance settings"

Finally! One of the only gripes I had with DayZ was how little I could see far away. I always hoped that the fog would get pushed back in the future, now it's actually happening!

There are already servers with 6000m view distance and beyond. The capability has been there since 1.0 and earlier probably. We just didn't have a way to set the client value in game (until a recent Expansion mod change at least). There are settings on the server to set the max terrain and object distance as well as on the client. The server sets the max and the client then can set up to the max value for terrain and objects. Those values are separate from the network bubble parameters (networkRangeFar/networkRangeNear/networkRangeClose) so you only see "static" elements up to that distance.. On the client you have to manually change a text file but many people already do this. For example, RedTic Winter Cherno has up to 6000m view distances if you have the hardware. My personal test server has up to 8000m.

I'll never understand how some folks can't shoot for shit but they can see a moving pixel 800m out on a 20in moniter and immediately know it's a player. 😂 I feel severely blind compared to some of the people i run into.

Not to sure why people are complaining with all the rain in livonia when it's description was a "new landscape known for its tropical weather with lots of rain and storms", its wiki description is also "Livonia is a harsh, rainy environment with temperate climate conditions consisting of cold winters and cool summers."

See my other comments. There are already servers out there with 6-8km view distances. The server has a series of params for setting this. They are separate from the network bubble. defaultVisibility, defaultObjectViewDistance on the server. The client has 2 similar parameters BUT you have hand edit the file. So few people do this BUT it's bee a feature FOREVER... The networkRange parameters are the network bubbles AND separate from draw distance for a reason (1 the net bubbles eat bandwidth, draw distance is the static map on your PC so it eats no bandwidth). Custom areas and bases/cars/tents/players are controlled by networkRangeFar BUT setting just a 3km distance eats up HUGE bandwidth (10x the data - area of circle, and b/c it's a 3D world, technically a sphere. RedTic Winter Cherno is server that is public and has a view distances of 6km last I was on a few months ago. Just google how to change your render distance on the client. There are many servers with 2-4km out there. Example Chernarus Has Fallen is about 3.6km BUT again you have to set your draw distances in a config.

I wouldn't mind rain if rain gear was actually functional. Swapping my fully 42 slot jacket for a 20 slot rain coat when it rains isn't ideal

The problem isn't even that the raincoat has little amount of slots. The bigger problem is that a raincoat has a low insulation while a hunting jacket when it gets wet has at worst medium insulation + on top of that more slots and camo. I know the raincoat is lighter, but it's not enough to make it worth it, especially the bright variations. If the raincoat was actually a coat that you could wear on top of a jacket and wouldn't give you slots that would be 10x better imo.

When Frostline was announced, I was really afraid of the quality of the map because reusing a 10-year-old asset and selling it for €30 was excessive in my opinion. But if they integrate new technology with the map, that might interest me. On the other hand, they really need to review the base-building and the zombie AI.

Yeah that's unlikely. Although the thunder is an "event", the timings, sound and distance are randomised for every player. So it's never going to be synced, unless it's a cutscene.

A small tip for English speakers: whenever you see a in a non-English word, you should pronounce it as a hard H, not K. Not /Sakal/, but /Sahal/ with the hard H.

There is already a file you can edit in documents/DayZ to adjust the terrain view distance and object view distance. They are basically just putting a menu option to do it in game now. It will reset if you join a server that forces a certain distance on one/both.

server owners can already control view/ render distance, players can as well. it just requires edits to the server initialization files for the server owner and a edit to the user_settings.DayZProfile file for players

I love the new weather additions. Having to take note of the conditions is another great part of survival. It will not only make it more immersing but also create some epic snow storm gun fights!

To answer your question at 6:33, you can already change the view distance for the environment and the objects inside your player profile config files. I've been playing with 12000m of view distance for terrain and something like 4-8000m for objects (buldings, trees, etc) depending on the situation and the game runs fine in most cases. I don't know if players are rendered that far though, I think there is still this 1100m limit. And I'm pretty sure that loot is not rendered at these distances because, first it makes no sense to see a can of tuna at 6km and second, my PC would probably catch on fire if it did.

this settting is meant to put all players on equal footing, because when your view distance is low, the fog really is thicker than for the guy whose view distance is 12 km. while the big monster pc owner can view you without this fog, you probably can't view him with the thick fog you get. a good option to set a limit on server side for this imo.

It's only taken them 11yrs to catch back up to DayZ Origins and Epoch and 5yrs to catch back up with Arma 3 Survival and put the damn fog back into the valleys and low lying areas instead of covering the entire landmass..... geezus it's about time, one of my most missed visual effects was that low lying fog.... unfortunately, I didn't see it rolling in like A3S has it, and A3S also has separate biomes with the north section of "Chernarus" being covered in snow with snowfall and the south being temperate. Edit: and Wobo, I play Arma 3 Exile Mod (similar to DayZ Mod, except you're a prisoner dropped on an island to survive, loot like DayZ, AI missions, optional roaming AI on foot, vehicle, air, sea ECT, base building, trader, and there's optional zombies from different mods typically added, but not always), but I run my view settings at 10k across the board, 10k for everything (much more granular than DayZ SA's view settings, even in the files, but through the display GUI), and you can see, engage, and kill players at that full 10k distance if not more (I'll drop below 60fps if I go over 10k), buildings and full terrain render as well as players and player's vehicles and their bases, and AI will render out that far as well as their vehicles. It's extremely hard to snipe someone at 5k, but it can be done, and you can absolutely take someone out from further with a vehicle's armaments, as long as whatever you're using can travel that far that is, not like you're going to shoot a 9mm pistol out to 5k, but my MAR-10 will definitely reach out to 2k, after that, you need some power

@@redshift912 maybe on your rig it does, I personally have never had an issue with either A2 or A3, I have though had issues with DayZ SA and their terrible implementation of light sources and projectile calculations, and I've also had issues with Reforger, then again, I only kept trying to torture myself for a week with Reforger when it first released and never went back even though their "DayZ" mods have looked promising

Devs knocking things off my changes wishlist, maybe I should write better zombie AI and motorbikes on there too... Fun thing about the altitude fog is, that's how it looked in 0.60-0.62. One fog value had altitude range and the other was just generic z-distance fog, and I believe the games had both still the whole time but its been so hard to tell for so long, and the fog has been so overpowering that as we've seen on many community servers, people have began modding out the volfog. I don't think players or AI will be visible beyond 1100m with the new view distance settings. Player visibility gets all fucked up at 1km and the network bubble size is a huge issue for server performance. Since anything within a players network bubble needs to be actively simulated, increasing it increases that area squared, and on each player on the map. There's a reason it was downgraded from 1600m in 0.62 to 1100m at some point in 0.63

Hopefully this also comes with an increase in player render distance. From my experience, playing with your render too high just makes it harder to tell where you should and shouldn't be looking for players, considering they stop rendering in past 1km and you can often see way past that. It also seems like there will be a ton of long lines of sight on this map where it would make sense to be able to see people from further away.

so amazing to see how far this game has come and the future of where its headed. truly love this game and the amount of work the devs have been putting into improving and updating dayz has been awesome, it makes me really happy even though i dont have the time to play anymore. this game is truly unique, i want to see this game shine

i mean you can set view/object render distance to 10km in the edtior so surely, on my rig i still get minimum 50-60 fps, tho i understand that it might be different performance when running on a live server with full pop. very exciting to see how this will work out.

Well hopefully the devs will be able to do something about the dupers and other dueche bags who ruin official for alot of people. So our 30-40 dollars for this map better net is some positive results in this area.

Oh, i remember the old times, where you had to lower the ingame veiwdistance for it not to lag badly. 🤣 I think it was "uncapped" back then, Default was 2500, but that was to much for my PC. With 6km veiwdistance, you should be able to noclip(with mod tools) in Skalisty and see the whole map from there? Amazing!

isn't the current "poor" view distance like 600m? so in this update, at already "low" setting, we can see further than we currently can with default view settings

They either heard me or played on my server considering what they're doing with the game. Im hosting Deerisle with he view distance of objects and terrain up to 3600m, players still render as vanilla 1.1km, and it runs smooth and it looks amazingly beautiful!

theoretically now Networked Object are within 1000m, i think that devs, in order to get a player be seen beyond that, have to extend this range ( this may include some perfomance drop also )

I wonder about the weather efects because in other survival games you can't be out during a blizzard. Will they be so severe that you'll need to seek shelter or start losing health?

Looking at the distance between the island the really small one at the north of the new map wonder if they're also going to be implementing boats do you be able to safely get out there because that looks like a longer swim than the one to the prison and it's going to be a hell of a lot colder probably die of hypothermia before you actually get out there by swimming so I wonder if they'll add boats

Server view distance is the max cap you can set (you can have your own in your client config but its capped by server),so nothing really new.

Makes me wonder if with all the view distance chances will the LOD popping in and out with foliage/buildings/etc be a thing of the past or will this still happen? This has always been quite annoying and outdated and would be a MASSIVE W if it will no longer be an issue!

Hopefully console can get a bit of a distance upgrade or at least the settings for it the Xbox One and series S definitely can't handle all that but the series X could definitely capitalize on some of this new tech

The view distance increase is the best thing here. Its going to increase immersion on Chernarus so much... one thing it wont increase is my already precarious FPS, but hey, jebi ga, i need that shit.
