A quick status update on November 13, 2022 about DB48X, a firmware to bring RPL to the DM42. Unfortunately, I could not demo algebraics because my iPhone ran out of space before the end of the recording. 48calc.org
Thanks, and I appreciate you taking the time to look at this video. I really appreciate your own videos (where do you get all these calculators from, btw?). I hope that one day in the not-so-distant future, that firmware will be good enough that you do a video review of it ;-) Also, I tried to take inspiration from you on how you film things when doing your own demos.
I want to stick to the spirit of RPL. The HP Prime lost it. It's RPN entry mode was half-baked, did not work at all in the CAS, and its programming language could not use the stack at all. But to me, the worst part about the prime is that you need to touch the screen all the time. The DM42 has no touch screen. It's really optimized for quick operation with the keyboard.
Great work! I know it could harder to do as closet You want to get to the original one. The 48g series had CAS, infinite stack plus simbólico linear álgebra, nonetheless
Of course, symbolic algebra is also in the works for DB48X. See ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I5jgLzw_0-o.html for a more recent update that shows some of it, including things the HP48 cannot do, like symbolic complex numbers (i.e. computing (a+ib)*(c+id) symbolically).
Hi. The project is still alive, but I've been very busy with other stuff lately, so not making as much progress. Please keep pinging me. Having folks who show interest is the best motivation ;-)
I just had covid + stomach flu, so now I have a lot of catch-up to do at work. I was initially planning to have something vaguely usable around Christmas. I think it will be more around early next year.
