I know women who would kill for a delivery in less than an hour, no matter how stressful and painful. For example my mom who had a 24 hour delivery and had to had a c section AND developed a fever AND I was a premie, she would be quite happy with delivering within an hour.
I lived with this story in the back of my head while I was pregnant as a perpetual source of worry. I also have a fairly high pain threshold and was worried the entire time that I wouldn't be able to tell if I was having contractions. Luckily, I was able to tell and we headed to the hospital at like 3am, so traffic wasn't a worry at all.
I had some dental work done and they did not give me any numbing agent, but they did give me laughing gas. it hurt but i was like, "wow, this really fucking hurts. i could go for some guacamole."
i didnt realise how well they disguised it in episodes of, say, friday nights around the time where a bump would've been noticeable. that episode where shes just lying on the floor the entire time? probably wasnt great for her back, but got there
