During Spring we captured KiwiRail's M52 Dairy shunts that serve the Fonterra Dairy factories of Hautapu and Waitoa in the Waikato. On this particular day DC 4260 ran these services. DC's are the only locomotives allowed on these two branch lines besides the DSC at Waitoa, due to the rusty rails and buckled tracks.
We see 4260 trundle down the former Cambridge branch to Hautapu to collect wagons, before heading east along the East Coast Main Trunk to Morrinsville. Then along Waitoa Branch to collect the final wagons and finally returning to Hamilton in the evening.
