Yea. They cannot live up to what they know to be good, and are too cowardly and too childishly prideful to admit it, so they denounce good and praise their own sin instead. But I guess many of us take the wrong paths in life when we're young, and one can hope that these people one day also correct their course before it is too late.

@@troffle The main example (and there are others) that comes to mind is an author by the name of Sherman Alexie, pardon if I didn’t spell his name correctly. Grew up on a Native American reservation, quite poor. His dad would go to thrift stores, garage sales, and always come home with books, as well as a comic book for his son. This is how he learned to read, as it piqued his imagination. Pretty cool story, darn good writer. Appreciate your comment.

Pervert? This word doesn't mean what you think you mean. For Christianity, any type of sexual act done without the explicit intent of making a new baby is perverted. Did Harlequin have 12+ children in the original comic run? No? Then she _and_ Alan Scott both have always been perverts.

That's awesome, I like that you had that much of a love for Alan Scott. Since he often did not have his own book you must have quite the ecclectic collection. My most stand out story of his... is the Star Heart story from around Green Lantern 110 which I bet you have, since it kind of estabilished an early origin for him. I think it is from the issue that has the Green Lantern symbol burning itself into Hal's chest.

You are singing my story and my song. All Star Squadron was my title and Alan Scott was my fave Green lantern. Not any more.

@@davidallen4026 I LOVED All-Star Squadron! I loved the Invaders too for Marvel’s take on their WWII heroes. Roy Thomas worked on both titles. I miss writers that had a reverence and passion for the history of the medium. Golden Age heroes are so cool to me.

@@icedeep3885 I’m still filling in the collection, I don’t have every appearance by a long way, but I pick up any back issue I can find (and afford) that has Allan Scott in it. He’s such a unique character. DC printed a hardcover years ago of Golden Age reprints that has a Green Lantern story with Alex Toth art, and is probably my favorite rendition of the character. In the story he fights the Icicle. It’s so absurd that DC had to change him. All because of James Robinson’s lame Earth 2 Allan Scott, which wasn’t even the same character. It’s so ridiculous.

As a Christian, this is frustrating. I can take these people attacking me for my faith, I get that treatment whenever I go preaching. But trying to insert their politics and saying that homosexuality isn’t a sin and that God would accept their lifestyle is what really gets my goat. It’s bad enough that churches are letting them in and letting them be, but it’s worse that they are changing Scripture to accommodate to those beliefs. Like, no. The Bible shouldn’t accommodate to you, you should accommodate to God’s standards according to the Bible.

I had to do the same. And no, I didn't have to do it to protect my kids (they have good heads on their shoulders); I had to do it to protect the comics medium's reputation so they wouldn't think it was a hobby for predators.

I just buy trades from the 80’s through about 2010 now. Don’t really have any interest in anything after 2010 anymore. That’s about when things really started going down.

I met Martin Nodell three times myself -- 1999, 2000, 2001. He was a nice old man. I got my reprint of the original GL comic (from The Great Comic Book Heroes, Jules Feiffer compilation) autographed by him. Bought the Alan Scott statue (one of the nicest GL statues, btw) from him, too. I absolutely HATE what DC did to his character. I'm sure his kids "appreciate" what DC did to Alan Scott, too! PS -- There's a RU-vidr who regularly heckles Shane who seems to be IN DENIAL about what DC has done to this Golden Age character. I won't give attention to this guy by mentioning his name but he's "one of those guys" who seem to think DC and Marvel are doing The Lord's work now. I bet that joker's an atheist, anyway! People who think deviant behavior is a normal, good thing are in denial about who they are.

I saw him all the time at cons, always super nice. How sad to see what DC thinks of their legacy characters and creators.

I'm expecting it to happen this year probably around June. They already chanted that they're coming for people's kids in 2023.

That was before EVS. That was midway thru Kyle Rayner's series and I stopped then too. Ugh. Only picked again when John's and EVS started their run. I too had collected GL faithfully since 1976 until that point.
