Many states, including Ohio, are moving toward more rigorous evaluation systems. We talked to DC teachers evaluated by DC's IMPACT evaluation system to hear their thoughts on how they're evaluated.
I like this video.....it shows you the total chaos that exists in teaching and teacher evaluation. In essence it shows that the state and states are unwilling to invest in education or have any idea what education is about. You do not set objectives in teaching or learning...see what Finland is doing and compare it to this...this is what chaos looks like.
It's not chaotic when you realize who designed these "evaluations." You have evaluations that are designed by people who've never set foot in a classroom. Add to that fact, you have evaluators that are doing the evaluations/observations who've never taught in the classroom. The quality of teaching is completely subjective during the evaluative process and can often come down to whether a principal/evaluator likes you or not. Getting rid of the Dept. of Education would be a big first step in fixing what is wrong with our current school system.
Gary A I think she means that's one of the options. They are talking about Impact, you can google it and donations is not in there. I'm sure it can count cause schools want $$$ but I don't think it's required. That'd be insane lol
Yes we do live in insane times and world wide geopolitical changes going on right now, with many many people waking up to the corruption happening in So many area's. People need peace.
this is obviously backed by the school district not the Union. in NYC evaluations will be used as an axe against teachers, not to help them teach. Beside, most of the new supervisors in nyc haven't spent much time teaching themselves, so they don't even know what they are evaluating. See Bloomin's School of Bloos.
So, y'all get evaluated by a "MASTER TEACHER"? What is the criteria for becoming a "MASTER TEACHER"? How much does the "MASTER TEACHER" get paid? (Is it a job for life? Can it lead to even more promotions? (e.g. Director of Curriculum, Assessment Coordinator? I am willing to bet none of these people will be in the classroom in 5 years! They will all have become "MASTER TEACHERS"! People who walk around with a clipboard in one hand and a latte in another! What a waste of tax payer money!
Lol. Maybe. Some of the laziest people I've known have been teachers. As the old joke goes..."What are the top 3 reasons to become a teacher?" "June, July and August" lol.
@@joannwilliamsjackson1021 Sorry Joann. I've been a teacher for 20 years. An administrator for 3. I've held pretty much every role a teacher can hold. I've also worked as an educational consultant in the private sector as well. The truth hurts. It's fine. Don't kill the messenger. What I stated is a fact. Many people get into teaching/education because compared to other professions it is "easier" in many ways. I'm not a big video game fan tho. Maybe I should ask you what your favorite game is?
