DC Universe Logo UPC Variants - Some of the RAREST COMICS you may have 

I’ve got about a dozen of these dc universe variants. Got a bunch in $1 bins. They are rare to find.

So I co-wrote the CBSI article and would like to add a few things, the article and list could not have happened without some dedicated writers at comicbookinvest.com. We used many sources ( Diamond, CGC etc.) to compile this list and it took a really long time to put together. The guys who wrote this with me have more knowledge about these than you can possibly imagine. Just be aware that not at DCUs are created equal and the logo MUST appear in the upc box.

Now I have to dig through my collection to see if I have any DC logo variants. I had no Idea about these before this video!

I scored a beautul NM-M Man of Steel #18 3yrs ago a rare 5th print with the DC universe logo. I believe there was only 500 made or less? Huge Death of Superman fan and had to have it..

Found a flash 92 with the dc logo at a flea market for a dollar last Sunday.

I have one DCU variant. Superman Man of Steel #18 5th print. Found it in a dollar bin at my LCS. I would never known it was worth something without checking out CBSI. Those guys have ridiculous knowledge on comic books! Keep putting out that content.

I've heard of these variants but never went looking for them. Hard to look at the upc logo searching packed back issue bins without taking out the books a handful at a time. Can't wait to see your mystery bag opening.

Another great video Tom. I've been a long time follower on IG and RU-vid. I've been collecting these variants for years before most people even heard about them. I currently have over 600 copies some rare, and I have a green lantern #62 that's not on any list and most people didn't know it existed until I posted it on cbsi G+. Thanks for sharing this vid. This is an area I am very passionate about - not the DC Universal Logo's per se, but the idea of variants based upon distribution and manufacturing needs. This is something very commonly collected in the world of stamps (philately). In stamps, differences in paper stock, perforations, and printing errors can change demand and pricing by drastic amounts. For some reason, this has always been a sub-set of comic collecting - although there are some of us that really look for these. As an example, there are the Whitman/Gold Key logo sets in many of the late 70's "cartoon" character books. Also, there are the Whitman pre-pack rarity books that have scarce availability. A few years back there was an excellent article on this in the Overstreet Price Guide, but folks have been collecting these for years. Other interesting areas are the Canadian/US price variants. These books were printed at the exact same time on the exact same printing presses (in Canada actually) and there are TWO (maybe even THREE) versions of many, many books: Canadian Newsstand (UPC bar code and one price, higher than US), Direct Market (BOTH US and Canadian price on the book) and possibly a US-only newsstand - but I don't have samples of these. They "should" have a UPC bar code and a single price on them - which would be the US price for the book in question. What makes these interesting is that: 1) newsstand distribution in the US fell off faster than newsstand distribution in Canada - so newsstand is rare to begin with, but this makes it even more so. 2) Newsstand books should (in theory) be in worse shape over-all. So high-grade newsstand editions should be rarer as well. 3) the population of Canada is about 1/10th that of the US - so again, rarer books. I can really go on and on about this - I have a pretty big collection of certain books that I collect with some even more interesting "stuff" about them. If someone is looking for something to speculate on - I would highly recommend that ANY newsstand books (especially superhero) from around 2000 to today is going to be a much rarer item than direct edition books. Archies are pretty easy to get, Bongo are also out there - but the DC and Marvel books can be remarkably hard to find with UPC boxes after around 1996/7 - but especially after 2000 or so.

Great video I used to collect in the 90s which I collected spawn Witchblade the darkness and stuff of image and you hear not that much about old books anymore specially Witchblade or much as spawn or the Creech or stuff like that from image which I just started collecting again a lot of good stuff I've seen from you always help me a great bit

Literally just bought a “Best of DC ‘94” 8 Pack yesterday at a Bargain Shop that sits next to Lost Worlds of Wonder for $8. To say I was happy is an understatement.

i saw this and checked my collection from the 90s...found DC vs. Marvel issue #1 with 'DC Universe' logo on. that was exciting!

Picked up a couple of these DC Universe variants recently. Also found a couple books marked Direct Sales that have the DC Universe logo in the upper right-hand corner. Gonna go dig through the collection to see if I have anymore of these.

After watching your video's I found in my collection DC Universe Variants of: Robin #13, #14, Batman #515, Shadow of the Bat #35, and Detective #682. Love your show guys keep up the great work and these are for sale. :)

I bought a Batman pack containing 6 issues some years ago for less than 10 bucks. 5 of them are branded with this DC Universe logo. These are Batman 531 DC Universe branded glow in the dark variant with a Wonder Woman trading card inside, Batman 532, Detective Comics 697, 698 and 699. Can someone help me with the prices of these books? I´m not an expert on grading but when I bought them they were still sealed in the cardboard box, so the pages are still white, with very little to no damage on the comic.

Just picked up Superman 77, Funeral For a Friend 3rd Printing with the DC logo. Wasn’t too expensive but worth the gamble.

Time for a hunt

Getting into collecting seriously now and I realized that I have these variants in Batman comics. Detective Comics Batman 682, Batman 515, Shadow of the Bat 35, and Robin 14.

Just picked up 5 dc variants in the 50 cent bin today at my lcs.

I found three more DC logo varients out there in the wild. 1994 Superman 89, 1994 Steel 3, and 1994 Showcase Arkham #4. Don't know how common these stand in the DC universe.

Dear Tom and Russ, l REALLY appreciate your many formats on yt being a German dealer of - especially vintage DC, Marvel, Dell/Gold Key, Dark Horse etc. US (!) comics myself. Would you PLEASE enlarge on RELATIVELY low(er) print run books like lots of DC books around 1984/1985 - when DC was on the brink of getting out of the market - or single "nothing special" issues like Daredevil v1 86 (just ONE example!) in at least 8.0? Which of these "regular" Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, etc early to mid-80 books are - again: relatively speaking - "scarce"? Personally I have been collecting US stock for about 30 years and still have a hard time finding those beloved DC books from that era (where competing Marvel more or less dominated the market). It really would be nice to get a substantiated answer. Anyway, wishing you the very best and keep up the great work you do for our so very much beloved medium. Eric

Found this video after stumbling across a Batman Legacy set with Detective Comics #700 DCU Variant… Can't find any online!

I got Wonder Woman 90 and 97. But I have to report something else about issue 97. Check out the photos at Mycomicshop on Wonder Woman 97 (2nd Series). Notice that the DC logo variant actually has more green hair. Now that is sick! And I think that cover is super-underrated. I am glad to have this one in my collection.
