I’m glad they opened up the topic for the experience of different complexions within the black community. Darker complexions to me are the most unprotected in America. However the misunderstanding Btwn complexions in the black community goes both ways and it’s really really sad hopefully we overcome.

I disagree on that..unfortunately we get hate from both sides. We're not black enough and we're too black. Although I'm not mixed with any white at all. My mother is 100% native American. I get so sick of other black people claiming I have it easier than them. Because they think that way, we don't get support from ANYWHERE.

We need momma on the podcast at least 3x a month. Cuz the chemistry was phenomenal and your mom and you are so alike currently but i could tell ya was opposite back in the day so it’s not a competition between you too now. I suffered the worst day in my life when i loss my mother at 23 back in 2018, she was 42 and it was 3 days before my 24 birthday. That was and still is the most heartbreaking thing to happen to me as a only child. Shoutout to all the moms here and gone, future & aspiring, filling in & helping out. Shoutout to the only children who have that incredible relationship with their parent(s) or hoping to build one ❤️. SHOUT OUT TO MONA & MOMMA WANDA.

I really loved this episode. I’m a recovering juvenile delinquent. I was forever in trouble and my mom was sick and maybe that’s just how i processed everything but we didn’t have the best relationship. I would see how my older sisters and her were more friends and couldn’t wait until i was grown, because i knew we would eventually understand each other better .But I lost my mom almost 13 years ago and we never got the chance to have a closer bond and it eats me up inside. I realize more and more as I started my own family, left my 20s and entered my 30s that you always need your mother to talk to, to get that wisdom and prospective from an older black woman. So watching this episode is bittersweet. We all love momma DCMWG she always droppin gems. Thank you for sharing her with us 🖤

I loved this episode so much because y’all are breaking down colorism in the black community. I also come from a line of very light skinned black women due to rape. It’s so sad what our great grandmothers had to endure. There were no laws to protect them and now people just think it’s cool to make jokes. Shut them down. Good for you Momma Mona

I feel you Mona. I can't STAND when people assume I'm mixed with ANY type of white. My father is black. My mother is 100% Native American. Grew up on the reservation. My grandfather was the Chief. Mattaponi reservation in king William County VA. Where "Pocahontas" was from. They have a museum on the reservation as well. Both sides of my ancestors were done dirty af by whites so don't dare insinuate I have their blood in my veins at all.

in a weird way i was raised the same way..only felt like i have a sibling at holidays & family gatherings because we were never close..my dad remarried when my son was 2(he was in the wedding) but his wife doesn’t consider us her children/grandchildren or even step children/grandchildren& she has no children (& wanted them badly so it was very tellingly of her unmotherly nature to me) that she treated us so disrespectful & dismissively! i knew i were my real sister Mona!❤
