That series is AWESOME. I follow it like a Netflix show. You should consider doing the F-5 Campaign "Black Sea Resolve" after this one! The F-5 being just a bit more modern than the F-86, it would transition perfectly from this series.

This series has inspired me to learn more about the Korean War. Such an interesting topic, and a great campaign)

Pro tip from a vietnam vet, look at the wingtips, if they are square, they are friends, but watch for the “dirty fingernails” or the rounded off wingtips

The .50 cals apptly demonstrate why every other airforce - those who weren't reliant on US Air Force imports at least - switched to 20mm autocannons or larger with HE-Frag shells as prefered weapon in the Air-Air role. Even the US Navy and Marine Corps had switched to 20mm cannons by that point in time. The biggest pro for the Browning M2 .50 cal was how much ammunition you could pack in and thus get more firing time, even with 6-8 gun batteries, thus giving good hit probabilities even when the shot isn't aimed *EXACTLY* right. For the M3 .50 cal, the increased RoF was necessary because of the faster and faster speeds at which gunfights were fought. With faster the combat speeds come ever smaller windows of opportunity for a hit, a split second maybe with good hit probability. However, with increased RoF comes less firing time... and suddenly, the situation felt like back in the Battle of Britain, where He 111's sometimes absorbed ridiculous amounts of 7.7mm rounds. The 2nd generation Fighter Jets proved much more resistant to damage than piston engined aircraft, one reason being the mentioned ever increasing speeds... the plane has to be tough to withstand such high speeds in thick air at low altitude. Another few reasons were that the jet engines didn't need high-octane, ultra refined petrol... the fuel they used just wasn't nearly as flammable. Jet engines are actually less complicated and more robust than the high powered late WW2 piston engines... if you got the right materials and don't have to do with a subpar substitute of course. ;)

Maybe try getting in closer on the MiG's 6 and be light on the trigger; If you watch original Saber gun camera footage, those guys are holding off on firing till the whole ass of the MiG is dam near filling their windscreen and taking them out with just a couple of very small squirts from their .50,s. They seem to have been a lot more conservative with their ammo compared to the WW2 pilots flying Mustangs and Jugs when firing at a bandit; the Saber carried a lot less .50 cal ammo, perhaps?

I notice you coldn't tell if you dropped your tanks or not. I use a JetSeat (haptic pad for the seat) and SimShaker Wings (software) to provide haptic feedback for various things, including stalls, landing gear, dropping bombs, airbrakes, etc. I also use a force feedback joystick, but the haptic seat covers a bunch of stuff the joystick doesn't. That incident with the leaking hydraulic fluid may be a call out to The Bridges at Toko-Ri. There is a similar scene at the end, where a Navy F9F is damaged in an attack and crash-lands. Planes from his flight try to keep things clear until a helicopter can arrive. You can find the scene on RU-vid, if you want. Dunno if you saw, but Operation Michael, the 1918-themed Bloody April event this year, wrapped up. We managed to keep things tied up four weeks in a row. Very action-packed, and totally different from Black September. Going up against the best of the best pilots of Flying Circus really is something special.

Can you share the set up you use for this game, please? It seems like it could be pretty intensive.

THis is somekind of Bug. If a plane is on the airfield you can not destroy it. Same is in this intercept mission for the Viggen. When the Tiger landed there is no way you can destroy it

Soviet equipment. It just flies better with a few bullets embedded in the wings and fuselage.

You should do a RP where you get shot down and try to survive on land or do a POW RP it would be neat!

Those 6 .50 calibers just take too many rounds to kill a Mig-15. The Mig-15's 23 and 37mm cannons are much more dangerous to the F-86.
