Well done mav i'm very proud of you as a long time supporter and your time has finally come to rule the sky's in your massive helicopter Oh! sorry was thinking of the Apache there sorry my bad 🤣. i think you have everything right here the footage looks top class and your as nerves as a school girl ....looking forward to the rest of the series.....
So so proud of you Gareth! You really are reaching for the stars and chasing your dream! I will always support you and very proud to be part of it all with you xx
Congrats Maverick! Nice job! Instructor: "you fly helicopters in DCS? Mav: Yes! Instructor: You have a RU-vid channel? Mav: Yes! Instructor: And, you have not said MF'er one time...LOL!
Love it! At some point though you're gonna have to put James through the "Slippery Weasel 1A" approach, we poor virtual CPGs won't be the only ones traumatized.
Cracking Mav, good to see you back on RU-vid and following your dream, I look forward to seeing your progress, I hope you didn’t follow through mate 😂😂
Nice! If you have any questions or need any help Message me, I’ve been a Heli Pilot commercially for 6 years and have close to 3000 Hrs. I’d be happy to help and share my love of helicopters with you, they are one of the most fun, rewarding and challenging pieces of machinery out there
@104_Maverick :) I have had 2 lessons so far mate, its bloody fantastic :) one of the key differences is if you mess up bad you cannot respawn mate lol
Damnnnn maaaaaan! I can tell you have flight sim experience. You flew excellent for your first lesson. Good job and congratulations! I need to start my helo training soon, 18500 hours fixed wing time 😜
i just joined your channel after watching the ground target radar tutorial you have for my love the F/A-18...i wish you to become a real pilot from the bottom of my heart...Aviation is the greatest thing in this world..i found out that very late, but still i love it
Congrats Mav, hoping to start my own flying journey this year - albiet in fixed wing! - Looking forward to seeing your journey and hopefully catch you in the 104th server sometime (I'll be the one crashing my Apache over and over again!) Good luck!
36:50 Oh yeah, I hear yeah on that! I often do that mistake when trying to land helis in Arma3. I need to buy one of Virpil's new Helicopter collectives! :D In DCS, I'd recommend Inverting your axis so you PULL for more power and PUSH for less power. Kinda get your muscle memory that way :)
Nice one. I'm a PPL(A) and thinking of doing an hour or two in the G2 just for the experience, possibly at Helicentre so was very interested to see how you got on. Like you, I have been trying out the G2 on the home sim (MSFS) using the conventional throttle for collective.
Real world helicopter pilot here. I literally thought it was impossible to hover a helicopter when I started. I looked at my flight instructor in awe when he demonstrated it. Took about 3 or 4 hours until I could somewhat hover it and from there, it just gets better and better! Enjoy the journey and don’t give up! Side note, amazing to get the seat feel now huh? That’s what is so hard about the sim, zero feeling in your butt.
Well done Gareth, you’ll soon get the hang of hovering! Look ahead, hold the attitude! At least you have a governor, when I did it in a Bell 47, no governor and 95% of attention on holding the engine rpm between 3050 and 3100rpm using the twist grip throttle. That was 1980!
@@104thMaverick can't wait for the next video Mav! Very impressed! Also, shout out to James! Looks to be an amazing instructor. Need to get that man a Top Gun hat.
Keep up the hard work it'll be worth it in the end. I've been lucky enough to fly in numerous civil & military helicopters in my work and rescue team roles, but only ever 'taken control' in a straight line at height! Enjoy the experience dude.
Just seeing this now Mav! Great work, I'm thinking about getting my ground-school done and then taking my ROC-A radio certification. getting the ball rolling for PPL. again Beautiful!!
I'm a passive viewer of your channel, haven't participated much in the comments before but couldn't resist commenting here. Amazing stuff, this is great to see. I had a C172 test flight last year. You absolutely hit the nail on the head with regards to feeling the airframe wobble, shake and move. It gives you so much awareness that you don't get in sim. I'd bet returning to the PC afterward was disappointing!
Absolutely top effort mate, I can imagine it been very challenging, like trying to pat your head whilst rubbing your tummy and sweeping the floor at the same time lol sterling effort mate, looking forward to seeing more of your journey to a PPL, top man 👏👏👏
Congratulations! Really happy for you and can't wait to follow your progress. For the collective / home setup thing. A while back there was a survey on hoggit (I think) and about 50% of people answered they had it set up throttle forward -> increase collective. I alway had it the other way around and never expected so many did it the "throttle forward" way. It just never felt natural to me. Only thing is, when I change to the Harrier after flying a heli, it may happen that I lower the throttle when I should increase it ;-)
No brother, they are latched when they are open so they don’t go anywhere and the top speed is not fast enough to induce any negative effects of having them open.
