@@LuckyLuke3331 exactly. Do not trust the hype around it. It is a useless feature. The problem is not in tracking itself but in DCS which does not have a physical model for fingers. They do not interact with the environment. They are just dummy models and all interactions are through the point and click method by mouse type poiner from the central part of the hand (laser beam type).
I never run hand tracking AND I have my VR controllers turned off for DCS. There's no point when I have nearly 1k USD worth of HOTAS and rudder pedals infront of me. Anything I need to click I have a left handed mouse for.
@@evolicious the hand tracking on the quest 3 is honestly really good, you can play piano and type on a keyboard just fine... It's just the DCS implementation of handtracking is terrible
@@evolicious Q3 hand tracking with the new update is world class, it captures 100% of my hand motion, dcs is the problem not the technology, also passthrough is nearly 80% of real life, i can barely tell the difference between seeing out my eyes and seeing the world through quest 3 passthrough
I wonder if you could use tracking api to detect index and thumb touching as a click of a button or a more brute force approach of making gloves with wires in them that complete a circuit like a button once your fingers touch
Le tracker de main sur simu : l'idée est bonne, mais reste à perfectionner !...Je rappelle qu'en aéronautique il est conseillé de rester courtois avec les autres usagers...! 🙂
Give it some time. The real interesting thing i can't wait for is the augmented reality to get a bit better. I have seen demos where you can mask out your cockpit at home so its like real sim. Crazy.
@@spinningsquare1325 the whole problem is that there is no interaction. There is no physical model for finger interaction. Instead the whole hand works like a mouse.
Tried VR in DCS a year ago. If you touch the switch with vr hands, it will switch it 2000 times in a millisecond. Want to grab a drink while flying? You just pressed every button in a plane. Unusable. I can't see how quest 3 hand tracking going to fix game's VR implementation. *Obligatory "VTOL VR" notation*
@@ASHOT3359 It's actually pretty good if you use the hands as laser pointers. It's not AS good as actually flipping the switches, but it is 80% of the way there if you get your hands to just above the button then use the laser mode. I personally use a vive tracker and a ring mounted mouse.
Obviously it is not ready for prime time but if they can improve hand tracking tech where it works on instruments and is reliable, VR will go to a whole other level.
I just finally started VR with DCS after years of owning the sim... was looking forward to using my hands to interact with the switches etc... but looking at these comments its not working great yet??
ehi mate...you did a great job. I'vre tried so long for a working hand's tracking approach in dcs and the only things that really work are all exposed in the first part of your vid
I got hand tracking module for pimax crystal I installed all the software needed while in dcs I can see my hands but when I reach for the switches nothing happens... how to make it work??
I went down a rabbit hole trying to get this working. Here's a summation of what I THINK I needed to do to get it working. * MAJOR - you need to sign your account up as a Developer in Meta/Oculus - this allows the handtracking to pass through from the headset to PCVR * Once you have signed up - you need to enable developer modes - I'm not sure if you need to do it in all 3. Headset/ Meta Phone App and Meta PC App. But I'm pretty sure you need to at the very least enable Developer features in your PC Meta App under settings/beta. * Run DCS in OpenXR mode - not through SteamVR. - I'm running my Quest in Airlink mode - haven't tried Quest link/Virtual desktop/ALVR modes yet. * In DCS - Settings>VR Enable "TRACKERS" as the hand controller method. (Not CONTROLLERS) * Make sure all the Settings>Special hand modes are disabled (Ultraleap etc) * In fact, I uninstalled my Ultraleap software in case that was conflicting. That should show your hands up as models in the Menu, then it's up to you if you want to have pointers or just be able to touch switched in game.
@@mobius7089 OMG never mind, I cant believe i wasted my money on Virtual Dekstop and its not even better than steamlink or airlink. I had to connect a meta acc with organization and the developer stuff popped up.
