Hopped into the Hornet for some CAS on the Burning Skies US Command Center server which currently is running the Syria map. It was a good run! There was minimal enemy air activity which allowed me to focus on my CAS mission. There was a bunch of enemy units on hills near the shore.

Love the burning skies missions. The server owner does a lot of great work to keep it fresh and evolve the formula.

I completely agree. I can't recall how I stumbled upon it.. maybe someone mentioned it as a good server on Reddit. I joined the discord but never tried it out until months later (I first tried it in December I think. It was a little confusing for me at first as there's nothing which explains it for dummies like me. I'm working on doing a video which explains how it all works in the hopes of helping people out and getting more active players on the server. I've been pleasantly surprised on the US Command Center sever lately. I first started flying on it with the Nevada map and there was maybe one or two on it tops (typically they were flying supply missions I think). I was still mostly alone when the server rolled over to Syria and I figured it was just going to be this way but it has recently been pretty busy which is great! I'll probably join his patreon or something to show my appreciation for doing such a great job.

I’m happy to help! There’s actually a bunch of stuff I have recently learned about. There are some neat features. I am going to make a video about what I’ve learned so far. It’s a heck of a lot of fun.

Thanks! It’s my first love in DCS. I am finalizing a new Hornet video where I flew a SEAD mission using TALDS to take out a couple of SA-2 sites which had SA-15 protection.

@@StrIIker-TV talds are so good at depleating a sam site..follow up with a few jdams 20 mins later..goodbye SA-10

@@thegrizz9994yeah that has been my approach. If the carrier is close enough (or base). I might head out with 9 talds and send them on their way. I then turn around, rearm with JDAMs or JSOWs if I have the coordinates of enemy vehicles (mapped or even close enough to snag some mark points via the FLIR). If the air threat is low, I may bring a couple of JDAMs instead of spare AMRAAMs and take out the track radar and any SA-15’s.

f10 after you have the targets, a little red circle on the map with your name , then DTC or the way for a WP

Yeah! That’s an excellent way to do that! My brain was still figuring out how the server works. I’ve since learned a lot and have come to really appreciate the server. Easily my favorite one to fly on now!

Hi! The backchatter, is that a specific frequency or after editing? Noticed it in more of your vids. Great vid.

Thank you! It’s actually something I hear in game. I use an add on to Voice Attack called VaicomPro. The add on is free. There are also different types of chatter (naval vs Air Force for example). It’s called Chatter in the add on. You can turn it on or off.

I find landing much harder in VR

To be honest I have not tried landing on the carrier on a flat screen as I never really have done much outside of VR. I have heard from others that VR makes many things "easier" due to the presence of depth perception which one does not get on the flat screen. Other than the crappy landing which I did in this video, I tend to nail the landings 95% of the time with the rest being minor issues around lineup being slightly off or occasional hard landings. Thanks for watching!

Flying and looking around for targets is great, you can do so much more in VR, I found landing harder because the ground and the surrounding area just look so much faster. I can say that I will never go back to flat screen. Your landing was a lot better than mine, I hit the hull at least 5 times lol@@StrIIker-TV

Hah! Oh man that sucks! I don't recall doing any ramp strikes myself but maybe I buried any such memory deep where I can't see it. :) The way Chazz has the ships all jammed in close throws me off when I do a CASE I landing because I am not accustomed to seeing the area so congested. Also, the carrier has generally been too far from the action so I've been doing a lot of launches and recoveries from land.
