Duchy: Wrong, the F-14A/B/D with the variable geometry wings, low wing loading and very high thrust, had all the advantage against the Tiger in a tight turn fight. Dale Snodgrass is on video in 1985 going for a dog fight in a 1v3 against F-5E tigers and getting gun kills on all three with his single F-14A. Grumman even made videos in 1973 to train pilots of F-14 consistently being able to get behind the F-14A every single time by running the souped up F-5E out of energy. The Navy in the 80s had to "soup" up the F-5E tiger because they were no match even for the older F-14A and then eventually, opted for the F-16N Vipers in 1988 to simulate MIG-29 adversaries. F-14A could sustain energy much better in tight turns. Has been on video doing a full minimum radius turn in only 1200 feet in under 19 seconds at 8.5 - 9G sustained at 450 - 500 knots in full afterburn. The only advantage Tiger has, is slowing down the dog fight down to around 300 knots where the maneuverability of the F-5E has an advantage, but the counter for the F-14A is to go into the vertical and attack from above so F-14A would win every time with equal drivers.

While the kitty is an awesome (and pretty) Jet, I believe it has a relatively low (6G?) G-limit/loading because of the swept-wing design. Can anyone confirm this?
