The extended game rules do not kick in until turn 17, so the WN positions can only hit one unit per marker and US units can only take one hit per fire phase at this point in the game.
The German position has two markers: - a unit and a depth marker - so it may hit up to two US units. The first priority is to hit units in hexes with intense fire; units of all types in such hexes lose a step, regardless of their target symbol. BRUTAL :). Rules, page 13
08:13 you forget about step number 3 in the Amphibious Operations Phase. It says: Take units in the current turn of the Turn Track and place them in the Beach Landing Boxes listed on the units. It will be corrected later in video 18:45.
If nothing else this game captures the sheer level of dread any soldier must have felt looking at the task ahead of him on that day. Every option feels like a bad one and trying to surmount this challenge feels really intimidating. Well done to the developer to capture the historical spirit of this day!
The reason why the tanks get slammed is because the DD tanks were released way too far out from the beaches, and given the sea conditions and most of them sank.
