THANK YOU! I just got an Eclipse because it looked interesting, but I wanted to tear it down and make sure everything was clean. That auxiliary sear was hanging up the piston and I was afraid to start pulling apart the trigger group. This video was a lifesaver.

Looks like the trickiest part of the disassembly is that little metal "sear engagement dog". I would have probably had a panic attack when I removed the pin and it fell out, now knowing the correct orientation of it inside there ! I do have copy of an article that Phil Bulmer did in the March 2003 AIrgun World magazine, so that would have helped me out some, and some trial an error. Your video will be a big help when I finally do venture into my Eclipse ! Thank you !

So glad that you were able to gain some confidence by watching the video. Yes, that "auxiliary sear " is a little tricky but it's not too difficult. Thanks for watching.

Back in the Day there was a little waitress at the local coffee shop. Just absolutely stunning ! Guys would come in from the sticks just to see her. Seemed like a plan any way, until she came up to take their order. Her voice was somewhere between "Flipper" and finger nails on a chalk board ! 😳 All of them thought they were the guy who could deal with it, but left in complete bewilderment. 😅 Pity... She really was just the sweetest girl. 😕

As already mentioned a piston sleeve goes along way with these eclipse rifles and as you have stated a top hat. That was a tight fitting seal there ptfe and on warm days they can be excellent but on those bitter winter days you can literally lose a ftlb or more, they changed in latter model to the more efficient parachute seal but in mine even that has trouble sealing well so I may change it for an o-ring set up yet, but first I will order a customairseals from Australia they do some really good seals and make them over size so you have a bit of wiggle room to work with. I actually prefer the mk1 than my mk2 I just like the slide barrel release much like the early hw77.

Aussie Dave in PA here Kevin :) I mentioned before that I took your lead with a cheap Chinese Underlever & wrapped the spring with some soda can material & it made a huge difference,... Makes you wonder why these German & British manufacturers don't install their own kits from the factory, especially when you are looking at $800 to $1000 for a rifle. Do you like the British Rifles ? I don't really like British cars, bikes or even lawnmowers for that matter lol,... My years as a Parts Manager in a very large Mower Shop in Australia caused me to detest the English stuff from the 60's &70's. The chains, sprockets, bearings & seals NEVER crossed or lined up with anything else so it was a nightmare to repair or restore anything & it always seemed to feel arrogant. Cheers !... I will have a wee Bourbon for you ;)

@@LowkeyAirgunner Chances are you're already there Lowkey. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Most manufacturers have already pushed their format to the edge and back. Honestly, messing with transfer ports is a pretty efficient way to ruin a Springer. Not the same at all as porting a pneumatic. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Springers are designed to work against back pressure. 😉 You're generally better off cropping and re-crowning the barrel for an increase in fps and even then you'd best know what you're doing, if you can't re-choke the muzzle once you cut it. You came very close to ruining that breech. 😕 Use a brass ball end and garnet the next time. 😉 The short answer is that transfer ports are very... Very... Tricky ! There's a bit of math's involved. 🤓

@marcmyers1465
@marcmyers1465 2 года назад
Not on this channel... 😉 It's all about the "BUZZ" here. 😀👍 Trust me on this, there are multiple aspects of Springer noise. I might be the only guy here to actually go as far as a pink noise analyzer for metallic harmonics. We simply dampen metallic contact at multiple points to avoid it altogether. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Turning a Springer into a true spring piston (basically identical to a piston shock absorber) 😉 Except for OZ Dave, maybe ? 🤔 He's trying to Perfect his Buzz ! 😂

"Twang" tends to be caused by a poor guide or bent spring. "Buzz" tends to be caused by spring slap inside the walls of the piston. Hence: Top Hat and or Piston Sleeve. Best rule of thumb: No metal to metal contact... ☝️🤨 HTH. Prof M 🤓

Hi, I have just had the spring replaced on my Webley eclipse, a friend did the repairs coz it was him that broke it, things went from bad to worse. He fired the gun with the undercover open, this broke the spring, I told him I could make a jig for doing it he insisted he could do it with the vice, he is the gun guy so I said OK, anyhow the back of the gun flew out and the safety came off and I lost the detent ball and spring, he also snapped the sear, at this point I said give me the gun back and I will do it myself, so I ordered the parts and made a jig, I got it all back together but and it won't cock, I have had the trigger mechanism apart and all the parts were OK. When I cock it the trigger latch is just a fraction below where it needs to be to seat on top of the trigger mechanism right at the back, any help is appreciated, ty
@razor1962
@razor1962 Год назад
Hi David. It's really difficult to assess your problem without having the gun in my hands. I don't remember if the trigger can be cocked (set) separately from the rifle. If so, it may be as simple as pulling the trigger before the gun can be cocked. For instance, this is the case with Weihrauch triggers as well as a few Diana models. The only other thing which comes to mind is the sear itself. It's very easy to install it incorrectly. It could be oriented wrong or not engaged with the sear spring properly. Other than these two suggestions, I don't have much to offer. I'm sorry my friend.

The Eclipses can be "Interesting" That's Code: for P.I.T.A ! 😁 But you'll get her sorted out. 😉 Head down, face forward, and leed with Y'er right... 😏 Is the factory spring as significant as it looks ? 🤔
@razor1962
@razor1962 2 года назад
Thanks Marc. That spring is substantial. No way it was going back together without a compressor. Did you see how long the guide was? Left no room for a top hat as I discovered.
@marcmyers1465
@marcmyers1465 2 года назад
@@razor1962 I saw that, and as tight as that spring fit you'd likely damage the works getting it apart to shorten the rear guide. Unless you're committed to turning a new guide and getting a custom spring, you're on the right track ! 😉👍
