On 4 December 2016 Deacon Blue played the Glasgow Barrowlands for the last night of their 'Believers' tour. The show marked an emotional return to the venue they had last played in 1994.
I’m 58, and have listened to countless songs over the years. I still consider this one of the top 5 pop/rock songs ever written. Maybe even the best… the progression, the storytelling, the groove, the anthemic sing-along… just sublime.
My favourite song of all time … memories of my father who worked hard all his life then retired and I bought him a fishing boat … hours we spent on her were so so precious … I miss him every day 🙏🍻
Trying to find words - grandparents toiling the earth and tolling the bell, parents moving up a step on that socially contructed ladder, trying to do the same for my daughter - all trying for dignity. Fan-FUCKING-tastic song.
I’m 56 and I love this song and the band. Deacon Blue fkng Amazing brings my youth back. ❤️❤️ Let’s Rock it fkng sing and bounce and keep your Dignity 🤘
My dad introduced this song to me and brother when I was 5 and my brother was 3 back in 1989. Loved it from the day I listened to it and listen to it regularly. My dad worked so hard all his life working abroad and this song hits home so much now he is no longer with us. Miss you pops thank you for introducing us to the best music growing up 💙
One of the best tracks of all time - so much emotion - so much beauty - we can all relate to that dream of dignity - for most of us the ship never arrives however having the dream keeps us alive.

Still loving them after all these years. Saw them in concert in Scotland in 1990 while backpacking around Europe. Dignity is my favorite Deacon Blue song. Done some sailing and still going to buy that yacht. Think I'll call her Deacon Blue.
By coincidence I heard this live version on Spotify this week. One of my favourite songs ever, so many memories from my youth... Checked Tour dates and bought a ticket for october. So happy ❤❤❤❤
@@stewartlee9459 I'm glad they're married. I remember how in their early days she gave him that special look while singing. The same way my mom looked at my dad all the years. Adoration.
