They didn't though? They named them based on ability/ thematics, not size. Mind Flayers have psionic abilities ✅ Demogorgons are terrifying savage beasts ✅ @@JaWick_WitaStick
@@JaWick_WitaStick I mean not really. Neither of them looks like a Mind Flayer. The kids just called them that cause they played DnD. Its not like the Vecna in Stranger Things is ACTUALLY Vecna from DnD.
@@NRV0 there is a trailer with Newbon as Vecna but this here is Mercers voice. I don't know why. Edit: i watched the other trailer again. So it seems Newbon voiced Vecna in the trailer for a new adventure book of D&D (Vecna: Eve of Ruin). Dead by Daylight looks like a game of some sorts.
@@sillerbarly4927 That's certainly news to me, but Bahamut can disguise himself as he wants. Volo is pretty much an unknowing Chosen of Mystra though, since no one would suspect Volo of actually being important. Makes sense why Elminster keeps tabs on him too. 🤣
@@oliverwilhelm6171 Fizban is Bahamut's mortal guise in Dragonlance; and as a god, he is known as Paladine. In the Forgotten Realms, he's the Grandmaster of Flowers.
@@dallaspark9100 CR Vecna being canon wasnt the point. What my head canon is, Since he is canon in DnD, is that Vox Machina trapped Vecna in the entities realm. I know it won't be the case but it's a head canon.
@@katondragonrider iirc the lore is that vecna wants the entity's power for himself so he willingly let himself get put into the realm? don't quote me on that though
I think there are other DbD killers that are sort of or basically gods. Dredge is an eldritch deity. Sadako is the child of a sea god. Pinhead and Pyramid Head are… whatever they are. lol. But yeah, not many at this power level. It’s sick.
I do believe that Vecna is the most powerful entity theyve used as a killer (lore wise he is insanely powerful, initially one of the most powerful mages, then one of the most powerful liches, now a straight up god of secrets who has escaped the impossible and confronted the entity that NO ONE in Dungeons and Dragons lore wants to confront, and actually escaped alive despite trying to oppose that entity. @@NicxCoay
Dead by daylight is on switch, it's out right now tho dead by daylight on switch is kind of a mess. It's laggy at times and the graphics are... Well like from a mobile game. They are adding cross progression this summer tho so it'll be nice to have as "dbd on the go"
I think this sort of stuff cheapens the IP WotC actually owns. Vecna, Strahd, Beholders, and such are all scary when you don't know anything about them, but once they're normalized they lose all appeal.
I mean the weve doesn't really... Reach to the entits realm does it? Plus the entity put some sort of mark on his back to weaken him. He fought it off but went inside willingly out of curiosity and I think he messed up by doing that
@@ciberon1 I'm not sure it reaches on the multiverse level, I mean the entity is in its own dimensions being able to reach into dimensions where magic isn't a thing aka the weave doesn't exist. Plus he's got that mark on his back weakening him
@@Axyierl The Entity kind of shares many traits with the Domains of Dread (Ravenloft setting) just more sentient than the Mists and magic reaches there fine. No reason not to assume that the Entity exists within or parallel to the Domains of Dread.
Their plan with survivor for DnD chapter is to allow more "character creation" than usual. Normally survivors have 3 skin parts: Head, Torso, Legs. DnD survivor skins will be split between: Head+Torso, which dictates the name/portrait of survivor in all menus, then Legs and Accessory slot (hair, hats, so on). This way they can make lots of solo accessory slot cosmetics for example, or create bunch of completely unique characters to put as skins, without having to completely restrict customization with Linked Sets, like they do for most licensed skins (Linked skins dont let you mix&match any parts)
I feel Matt’s voice is more on point for Vecna. Newbon’s Vecna just sounds like Astarion from BG3 just dialed back a little and it took me out of it a little to be honest
Sorry bad english "Poor misguided wanderers First, there was many, and now so few How little you must value your lives to take a single insignificant breath in my sanctum I'm afraid there will be no quick death for you No escape from this suffering I shall draw out your ending as I see fit For in dark places such as this, one must keep themselves entertained"
If I had a nickel for every time Matt Mercer voiced a dark, undying god bent on destruction and domination, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that that happened twice
@@2globalgames924 i was talking about the concept idea of adding vecna as a killer and using a dnd campaign setting for a stage for the game not the trailer itself
I imagine the entity captured a Lichter Tyranid Form, and used its power to grant the Tyranid a continued connection to the hive mind. It would be a cool collab.
@@brightestlight9462 most likely would be a half chapter with only a killer like maybe tzeentch for another thing of magic, nurgle for another plague, and then khorne for their brutality, even the imperium, which uses human bodies and skulls mixed with their technology for some amazing gore, has a ton to work with
Honestly? More new players to bring into D&D. I wager there will be some DBD players who never touched a tabletop RPG before, but they'll see these characters and get curious to try it. Also, WotC gets to promote the book they just released for the new adventure module that has Vecna as the main threat.
What can you really give to dnd? You can play however you want, play a dbd themed campaign and create every killer as bosses. Set it in the entity's realm. Jobs a good un
This is coming from a person who has so far doing one unfinished campaign for D&D I thought D&D had no really set characters, like it was up to the DM of how they looked and what they did, so how did they come to this?
There are several Official Campaign Settings with set Characters, Worlds etc. However most DnD Players don't really care, since it really limits what you can do. Vecna here for example is from the "Greyhawk Setting". Nobody really cares about Greyhawk or any other Setting, EXCEPT for the "Forgotten Realms Setting". This is the Setting where the the best/most popular DnD Video Games take Place in, like Baldurs Gate or Neverwinter Nights for example. Vecna also exists in the Forgotten Realms Setting, since he can travel around Worlds and Stuff, but he never does anything interesting there. And DbD Survivors, the Elf Girl and that Guy are made up.
And I would do anything for cash Oh, I would do anything for cash I would do anything for cash but I won't do that* I won't do that* *honor the original spirit of D&D
Umm. Actually it should be one must keep oneself, not themselves. For a wizard he sure doesn’t know as much as he should about languages. *fixes glasses and pulls out inhaler*
The entity is a god being on it's own, in the lore they cooked up he managed to fight it off but out of curiosity he decided to enter willingly to try and take the entity power for it's own. The thing is the weve doesn't reach to the entities realm so he kind of messed up by going inside. On top of that the entity put some sort of mark on him (you can see it on the back of his neck) to weaken him further. I mean no doubt he can still escape as Vigo did but the powers he has right now are kind of only the ones the entity allows him to have
Keep Star wars away from dead by daylight that license is not a horror license. Palpatine and Darth Vader no just no. Star wars has never crossed over with a horror license before anyway and I wonder why Star wars is not considered a horror. 😂
The hand is an item you can get in a chest, same as the eye of vecna, they serve as a way to counter the 4 spells vecna can cast in dead by daylight,as for why he has both eyes and arms, they entity (dead by daylights lovecraftian god that tears people from their worlds and forces them to do its bidding) restored his body
The whole DEAD BY DEAD scenario, now especially with the addition of Vecna, and other D&D characters. Reminds me of the RAVENLOFT D&D campaigns where various character from the realms of end up being yanked out of their homelands, and transplanted into the misty realms Barovia by some mysterious powers. From Count Strahd, Lord Soth of the world of Dragonlance., Krynn, and Lord Azalin of Greyhawk.
