Too many haters on this thread… enjoy the music and the fact that we all still get to experience it almost 60 years later. Mayer kills it every time he steps on stage with the boys
Looking at the crowd, how cool, all one. Friends shaking hands and being, just being. Take that out unto the streets, the work place, the highway........Be Grateful wherever you are. Jerry watching
Been following the dead for over 30 years and I think this might be my favorite Grateful Dead song if not it's in the one two and three for sure what a great version.
I have a sleeve I'm working on andso far ive got Lady w/a Fan, Terrapin Station, Terrapin Flyer, and At a Siding w/Jerry Portrait by the late and so great Phil Kutno... I'm blessed to have gotten to see Jerry and Philkept me going and Phish is pretty awesome we aee blessed toseeconcerts jist look whentheybeengone sux cantwait
Dense texture, together and apart, all moving in the same direction, acknowledging each other, leaving space for the contributions of others, inspiring and supporting each others’ efforts, hearing the harmony through it all.......
Very nice version. John is great. The band is...well.. the band is what the band is and that is why I've been along for the ride all these years. However orchard Park 7/4/89 is my favorite version of Terrapin and one of my favorite shows ever.
We were at this show and brought our sons and their friends (7 new dead heads) to this show. Awesome memories made that night. This was my son's song he wanted played, and they played it. ❤️⚡️💙 Great show!! #longlivethedead
I don't think you have to have been to a Grateful Dead show to be a Deadhead. There are tons of heads around the world who have never been to a show because of geography, much less their date of birth. If they like the music, the vibe, the community it's not someone else's job to take that from them. Good job mom and dad
So glad you got to share this with your son. I fear mine may be just too young to really experience it, but we will start taking him next year, and until the era ends and beyond.
Tommmy Aldridge I was in Orlando also and I said that was probably one of the best concerts I've ever seen in my life. I was on the rail right under Mayer's microphone
Love this !!!😁✌️✌️⚡️⚡️⚡️🎸⚡️⚡️⚡️🌹🌻💀🌒✨✨✨✨🌟💥💥☀️wish I knew the history of it or a documentary of several different songs...love D&C..yet a newbie for only almost 2years..some songs I can remember hearing many years ago yet at that time there were no iPhones just radio✨✨✨✨⭐️💫💫💫
A lot of critics out there. Take it for what it's worth. Look at the crowd enjoying themselves. The rain will fall the wind will blow and the snow will still pile up. These guys are not going to be around for long. So sit back enjoy this short strange trip🎼
You're right, man. Although, surprisingly, I haven't seen any critics! Again, Deadheads are such beautiful people! When else can you read ANY comments anywhere and actually find it enjoyable? I feel the love!
Ye he can, he heard Althea on Pandora and rushed inside to find out who was playing the lead. Then he fell in love with Jerry. Clapton has said John is one of the greats. I do agree.
I really enjoy this tempo makes the song almost more mystical, builds the tension with each verse, till bob comes in, classic rock does this a lot and I love it, songs like stairway or ten years gone by Zeppelin, and Pink Floyds music they all build up the song a it’s a great journey
"And I know we'll get there soon." "…The obvious was here. With nothing to believe in, the compass always points to Terrapin." (Thanks for sharing, Looking forward to Saratoga Springs!)
what would we do without this music??? I just don't know...Gratefully Yours xxxxooooxxxxoooxooooxoo OMG! I can't believe how good this is ~"You're still the ONE" Grateful Dead!!! "Changing our love is going gold/ Even though we grow old, it grows new..." "We're still having fun, and you're still the one" -JH,JH
U have it on the nail as the saying goes , I love these guys plus this song.Terrapin Station don’t know if it’s the end or the beginning , I guess Jerry found out !
I was at this show with my girlfriend at the time. She bought me the tickets as a surprise. This was the first time I saw Dead & Company and fell in love. Now she is my wife and we have two beautiful kids. I play them the dead every once in a while and I think they like it. :)
They r really good together ! It’s good for Bobby to b with some young ones that r great at what they all do so I think Bobby should b very proud of himself ! I like this band better then his other ones & I’ve heard them all ! Just great choices !
This is great! I wish I got to see them in Bristow last year (2016) but I was taking a course over the summer. I heard they played the best live rendition of Terrapin Station from A LOT of Dead heads at that show. Check it out if you haven't
To all complaining about slow pace...I'm no expert, but maybe it could have something to do with the fact that half of the current band members are over 70 years old.
Bret, I was thinking that, too. And it seems that John is very respectful to Bobby, Mickey, & Bill... which feels really good. (Cuz he can really ham it up! Lol! Because he CAN! But he doesn't. It wouldn't be right). Idk.. i feel like Jerry would approve. (& i never thought I'd ever say that!)
Good to hear the positive comments. I've been having to defend the musical Choice made by Bob of selling the tempos down since rat Dog Days of the mid-2000s. Basically when somebody complains oh it's too slow, it's the same thing as saying "I want this music to do what I want it to do for me. I wanted to sound like what I expect I think it should sound like". Comments like that show me right away that that person never really understood the point of Grateful Dead music or Grateful Dead show. The point was to leave those expectations behind to embrace the possibility and to enjoy the music being played by Heartfelt performers which it always is. So, go ahead and complain about the music so we can all know you're the person we don't want to stand next to at the show, if you even go which you probably don't. End rant
For those who understand, no explanation is necessary. For those who don’t, no explanation will suffice… I’m struggling to understand my take away from the cancelation my 68th birthday Libra concert in Tampa on Oct 7….
@@chriskies5016 if that's how you choose to see it. Could you really picture Jerry speaking ill of John enjoying himself while playing one of his songs? I'm pretty sure Jerry would be quite alright with this.
Dead Co does a great Terrapin. This one drags a little too much for my taste. Saw them do it in Worcester... much prefer that pace. Vid is cell phone but you get the idea: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E7xhsPTyoMc.html
In many ways, this earlier RAW Terrapin was better then later Dead and Co. over produced stuff. This is when Johnny boy first started playin with Bob. Stripped down and I like it.
I'm torn on this. Never been a fan of Mayer, and I don't think his voice does the songs justice. He's not a storyteller like Jerry was. But boy can he play that guitar... the overall musical quality here is sweet.
I disagree, obviously it's a different voice than Jerry's but I think it really compliments some of the songs.. Really like Dire Wolf, Scarlet Begonias, and Touch of Grey with Mayer on the vocals.
Forget the comparisons just listen to the music play. There will never be another Jerry nor will there ever be another Mayer. Will you hear his voice come through the music? and hold it near as it was your own.
