Hi my littlest spice bushes!
This week we got a lil' festive again! We made a cranberry sauce from scratch that doesn't suck and is like an elevated version of the canned variety (which is still 100% my favorite, but I like to be annoying and say I made everything from scratch so that's where this whole idea came from).
Also, I know this video looks very different from my other ones and I am sorry about that. I wanted to get a Thanksgiving video up for y'all and the Cohen Twins were sweet enough to let me use their videographer (big ups to Lily), so this isn't our normal AJ behind the camera, but he'll be back next video!
Big thanks to Leda's Urban Homestead where I got the recipe that I tweaked a bit (ledameredith.co....
| Jellied Cranberry Sauce |
- 12 ounces whole cranberries
- Juice and zest of 1 super chill orange
- Enough water to make the orange juice 1 cup of liquid
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Some peppercorns, allspice, whatever spices you want (but probably just those main ones
Get all of your spices in a cheese cloth bundle kinda vibe because my way is stupid.
Zest and squeeze your orange. Set both aside seperately.
Add your cranberries, sugar and liquid to a medium sauce pan and let that all come to a boil over medium-high heat, about 5 minutes. Add your little spice bundle. Make sure all the cranberries have popped (if you're not sure, gently press them against the side of your pan and if they smoosh without too much pressure - you're good!)
Once your cranberries have been boiling for about 7 minutes, remove from heat and let sit for a minute or two.
Add to your high powered blender, or food mill and make it nice and pretty and smooth.
Add the zest that we had so politely saved!
Transfer to a heat-proof glass and let come to room temp before moving to your refridge and letting set for like 2 whole-ass days (which I did not, and I am sorry).
WATCH IT JIGGLE AND ENJOY!!
