"having the baltics to be the tripwire to russia sounds like a good deal to me. finland is close by, sweden has a navy, poland has a lot of tanks. we can hold them." - optimistic estonian
2:45 I think the comic was referencing the Soviet’s keeping Poland behind the Iron Curtain instead of letting them have free elections like the Allies requested.
I'm honestly surprised Italy and Greece weren't already included in the Old Great Empires club; the Roman and Alexander the Great's empires are way older than the Mongol empire.
I was at a seminar the other day and the host introduced a professor from Brandeis as "the Carl Marks Professor of International Trade and Finance." You can imagine the puzzled looks on the audience. "Did he say what I thought he said?"

Kinda sad to see your views fall slowly. I just wanna thank you for introducing me to the fun sides of geography and history. For others who are reading this, have a nice day!
Fun fact Russia still use’s Soviet technology for military USA is probably the only one that updates or upgrades there military technology and equipment almost daily or idk.
@@pointcrowscreepyuncle no most of the words you “been” in you were still a territory of the United Kingdom during the war of 1812 Canada was two territories and it’s still the same White House we’ve never torn it down you can still notice some of the burn marks in some places. Also, you sent troops to the Russian Civil War how did that one turn out?
1941 Hawaii is BECAUSE IT WASN'T IN USA. Wtc was truly the first EVER attack on USA ANYTHING LIKE THIS. USA was still forcibly relocating Marshall Islanders onto nuclear fallout zones to do human testing on them, way after the war, and Greenpeace had the ship people out of there in 1980's because USA illegalized it. USA actively does not allow this message to spread. Adn most Americans don't know that pentagon was even attacked just like they ahve no cue that USSR did all the tactically relevant invasion to Japan, while USA was targeting civilians. Currently USA arms Israel to expunge civilians by proxy.
@@superalex120 USA occupied foreign land with military personnel like Hawaii and Guam, already a military attack on non-US soil. Then USA detonated nuclear bombs ON that US soil that was annexed under the cover of war, but not in time for detonation mind you, which fallout still affects civilians and caused a generation of birth defects. AFTER the war USA still destabilized war participants like causing the Berlin and Korean walls, and WAY after the war USA killed at minimum nearly half a Million Iraqis on FALSE PREMISE of nuclear testing as the same crime USA had ACTUALLY done. That was after blaming the WTC on Iraq fell thourgh for being also baseless. Hawaii is literally, the LAST place USA allows anyone to ask.
Austria didn`t get all of the ethnically German parts we lost South Tyrol, the Sudetenland and parts of mondern day Romania that were and partially are too this day ethnically German.
Fun fact canada has one of the stronger militaries in nato, but it gets a bad reputation because its next to america, so people compare the two and obviously america is way stronger
Canada currently rated 9th in the NATO military power index, so you’re right, but I think people give Canada a hard time because they don’t meet the 2% quota, while smaller countries like Sweden and Poland go above and beyond, of course Sweden and Poland both have more of a reason to boost their defenses. Canada may be close to Russia, but they have Alaska as a buffer zone so theirs no way they would be fighting Russia alone without us involvement, plus Canada is viewed as more of a diplomatic nation by many.
The Algerian revolt only happened because Paris refused to do anything to manage the colonies, which made a non-threat grow into a massive thing. And everyone was mad at having to deal with all the pointless bloodshed 🩸 and carnage.
I literally took a couple of minutes to understand the first comic was joking about WW2. I thought it was about people suspecting about Japaneses being responsible for 9/11 in that time
7:52 *crashes into a port* Hopefully that will not happen again *some time later* Light went out captain let go of the anchor? Nahh should be fine *crashes*
It wasn't about the US not wanting Poland to exist, but rather about the Soviets releasing Poland as a sovereign nation again. At least that's how I interpreted it. I might be wrong though
I was in Lithuania and Latvia all of last year and I loved it. Such beautiful countries, I spent most of my time working but when I got to go out I spent most of my time in Riga and Pabradė. Also just walking on the nature trails was beautiful. Keep safe, love from Alaska ❤🇱🇹 🇱🇻
