Dead Harbor Freight Battery Jump Pack, Repair and Float Charge Hack! 

Nice! We had almost the exact same idea. Only thing I did differently was tie up the slack of the pigtail inside the jump pack, so that the plug just protrudes from the vent slot and lays nicely on the housing under the handle. Great save Harvey!👍

Thats good way to charge it. I've always used a charger maintainer on mine. I bought cigarette lighter plug that connects to battery charge/ maintainer and plug into 12 volt outlet.

Buy the 1 year warranty on the battery and trade it in before it expires. Than buy another warranty on that one and on it goes.

Use an ES1230 battery for high performance long lasting power. I have 2 BoostPac brand jump starters and that is what they have in them. Battery cost about 36 bux and lasts a long time if properly used. Ours last almost 7 years and we started vehicles mostly with dead or even without a battery on regular a basis. The battery is high current capable and has heavy lugs. 👍👍

I did a similar thing to my centech 3 in 1 in the last year or two that i bought new. Added a quick connect and i can use any of my many battery maintainers on it when not in use. The battery should last longer. With using a multimeter i conclude that the on board charger does charge it up to a proper 14.5-14.7 volts. Then it shuts off and wont kick in untill the voltage goes fown to like around 12.7 volts with no float charge mode. So the oem charger just does not put a float charge on it, which is what you need for long term jump pack battery storage.

I have the same brand but with the air compressor. Has lasted 4 years and still perfect except the usb doesnt work. Used regularly, more than 5 times a month.

Thanks for the trick! im gonna mod my Eliminator Canadian Tire booster pack the charger that is enclosed in the box is keeping overcharge the battery and kill it!

Darn I throwed my old one away. I have access to them little batteries like that too. Sometimes I can find a few in the transfer station where people throw them away in the recycle area. I just take a amp meter to check the power remaining so if it just needs a good charge it’s good. Some people as you know have no idea how to charge a battery or have the charger to boot. They usually have more $ than I do. 🤣 I should have tried this hack too. Thanks Man

Replacing a battery with another battery was easy enough to follow. After that, you lost me. I'll stick to the basics and take in a little at a time after I get familiar with the terminology.

Centech are trash, i have several 900a units (with compressors) that i've used only a handful of times and they won't hold more than 12.8v and die very fast. I have had no such issues with the JNL unit i have had for going on 5 years now. still works like a charm. also i noticed that Harbor freight stopped selling the 900s and dumped them all (someone is selling them on ebay now).

I also turned to the Harbor Freight smart charger for my battery packs and got more life out of one (albeit probably killed it by letting it sit in storage too long). I'm interested in how you would have connected the 9AH battery to the nut & bolt connectors in the back.

The new Viking lithium jump packs are way better. I believe you can get them for as little as $60-$65 with a coupon.

So, I left the switch in the on position overnight. Now it does nothing, even though the battery still has a charge. Did I burn out the microprocessor? Is there a fuse or reset? Any thoughts?

I’ve got 2 jumper packs I desperately need to replace batteries in. One small one has a “12v 7Ah/20hr” battery in it, and the other has a “12v 18Ah/20hr” battery in it. Here’s the thing. I see these numbers all over Amazon, and I’m ready to buy them, but NONE OF THEM have the “20hr” part printed on the battery. They have the “12v 7Ah” and “12v 18Ah” part, but NOT the “20hr” part. Does that matter? Are they still the same? I think these are mostly marketed for computer UPS systems, while my jumper packs CAME FROM AN AUTO PARTS STORE. Are these batteries interchangeable? Do I HAVE to see the “20hr” printed on it, in order for it to work? Thanks!

With the way your moving from machine to machine it makes sense to use a jump pack ! If you contact interstate battery they sell what they call BLEMS much cheaper then normal . That is the way I buy my batteries and those 9ah ones we use on our depth finders both summer and winter . My son makes charge boxes with plastic ammo cans and they work wonderful and hold a 36ah battery that he buys at Harbor Freight ( solar panel battery ) for I think $60 , when you go check out the solar section !

If u right right the date on the pack harbor wright will give u new one with a 90 day warranty I have exchanged about 12 of them u bring in the old one they will give u a new one no question ask just have your phone number ready

When you need something for your busines, just buy the correct new battery.

Mine appears to charge as the lights flash and then turn solid green... but as soon as you use it, it beeps continuously and doesn't Jump anything....so annoying...absolute garbage, would never buy another one.

That was the most painful how too video I have ever seen Jesus christ. I bet you leave endless voice-mails as well.

If you decide to buy one just remember this thing will take a dump on you within two years HARBOR FREIGHT dropped the ball on this product
