Q:What camera do you use?
A: I use the Go Pro Hero 7 Black Edition primarily. Often times you will see auxillary cameras in use. Those cameras include The Go Pro Hero 6, Hero, and DJI Mavic Pro Platinum
Q: How big Is your rotator?
A: It is a 50 ton Miller Industries Vulcan 950
Q: Does the carriage slide back like Ron Pratt's?
A: No, the carriage doesn't slide back due to strict weight laws in California. The sliding carriage will make the truck to heavy in CA
Q: Why do you only have 3 winches on the rotator?
A: Comes down to weight again as stated above
Q: How many trucks Does Plaza Towing have?
A: Currently more than 30
Q: Why must the driveshaft be removed to tow a vehicle?
A: When vehicles are not running the transmission is not receiving circulating lubricant. If the driveshaft is left installed, the transmission, which is not receiving lubricant, is still spinning. This allows it to get very hot which eventually will cause major damage to the transmission. Therefore, removing the driveshaft completely eliminates the transmission from spinning. Simply leaving it in neutral is not sufficient since the transmission still spins in neutral.

That tail has a lock that keeps it from swiveling like it was doing with your lift.

The extensive commentary is helpful for those of us who are not in the recovery business. It's more interesting to have a description of what's going on rather than trying to guess what you're planning.

Use chains and binders if lockout is not present. Many older machines don’t have them.

Never seen a machine over a year or two old that still had a functional locking mechanism. Always lost or broken. Sad, but no one seems to take care of the gear, just run it till it breaks.

Surprised that Jeep didn't come out with more damage considering how far down it went, and the smaller cliffs it went over.

It’s jobs like this that sort out the wheat from the chaff, you need to do the maths working out weight distribution and ratios. Sweet lift. 🇺🇸🇬🇧

Another great job buddy! I never did heavy but always understood you gotta chain them wheel loaders cause they like to get squirrelly at the worst times. But whatever! You live and learn. Much respect for showing it on video! 👍💯 That keeps me watching bro 🤘 I never knew about boom deflection. Really cool thing to learn! And I've done plenty of light duty water recoveries but never worked with a dive team. Usually get asked on scene "you got a winch or enough chain?" as LE points to something off in the distance with maybe a roof showing. Then you get the classic advice about your wallet and now a days phone. Then the last little jokes about can you swim and snakes before you go fishing with a J hook. My question, since you've worked with a dive team, is it possible to get some sort of diving certification that'd allow yourself as a tow operator to do your own rigging? Even if for safety you had to go down with the dive team. Something that I've wondered for many years and figured you might have some insight on. Or one of y'all might have some experience with? Thanks. Keep it up man! 👍

New Heavy Wrecker Operator here. On the three-part lines, each part has 1/3 of the load. So if the load is 10,000 lbs, the load on each part of the line is 3,333 lbs. My question is: what is the load on the winch - 3,333 or 10,000?

I was serving in artillery during the war 1992. On howitzers 203mm, There was no part od equipment lighter then 25-30kg to handle with. It looks like your job is not any lighter in spite of remote control. Rather a lot of hard work for a one man. Trent I wish you best regards from Zagreb, Croatia. Does Alex work for you anymore?

@@plazatowing evens out the load
@plazatowing
@plazatowing Год назад
@@jeraldhood1327 I mean you could but in this case it would be unnecessary. The chain bridals accomplish the same thing due to being equal lengths. And because of the height of boom and rigging, the sling angle was in such a way where spreader bars were not needed

Spreader bars keep chains off of body panels. Damage free is key even if it is an old machine.
