Adding stairs next to the vent on the roof just made me jump out of my chair. I always hated waiting on the survivors to climb up one-at-a-time right there.
The footage of him saying "We've improved the AI" with gameplay of 5 characters successfully going up the stairs and past the fence made me genuinely smile.
I am sad that the OG Frank V.A. won't be in the game. He had such a great delivery. And I'd also like to note that the clown psychopath is some of the best acting I've ever seen in a video game.
The stairs by the vent are a great sign they've put serious thought into this. My only real gripe is TJ Rotolo not reprising his role. The dude just WAS Frank, his voice was perfect for him. In 4 I didnt mind it as much because I could believe the character had aged but here it just feels kinda weird.
This is the reason I won't be buying it. The original is accessible enough on current hardware, I don't need a remake that doesn't feel like Dead Rising. Frank looks and sounds awful.
@@fromthegamethrone the original is always there to play. I think this one is worth checking out. I don't like the frank change either but I love this game and would like to experience it again
I've never heard anyone praise this man until this game was announced. This is fake outrage. You didn't hear any of this leading up to Dead Rising 4's release.
@@dr.loomis4221what are you talking about there was plenty of outrage when Frank Voice actor was replaced in dead rising 4 That was one of the main criticisms on how Frank new voice didn’t fit him
There’s a Chuck greene outfit for those who pre order the game. I think its likely that it’s hinting at a remake for dr2 as well considering how successful it was
Capcom has a proven history with Resident Evil to continue remaking games if they sell decently. They also have seen that RE2 has had over 1-2,000 people playing it since release. This means people are still BUYING RE2 and is generating Capcom steady money. Then add RE3 and 4 remake sell well and continuously and now they have a whole generation of RE making them money at a steady, constant rate. If this sells well, which it will on Nostalgia alone WITH THOSE STAIRS
I literally bought the Xbox 360 when I was a kid because of the dead rising magazine ad showcasing 500+ different weapons. I can’t wait to play it all over again. Again
@@smokeymcbongwaterit’s factual that one of the main reasons the game sold so well is due to the vast amount of zombies on screen at once. For the time it was remarkable and it set the standard for future zombie games to come
@@hotcoldman777 - NPCs must climb that bit, to get to the safezone. Thing is, AI is painfully dumb, so they get up and down that thing all the time, wasting your precious seconds of an already tight game. Glad to see they fixed it!
@@hotcoldman777 In the original game, there are no stairs. just a ledge. The space between the vent and wall is also very narrow. Lastly, the survivor AI is absolutely terrible.
@@hotcoldman777The A.I. was AWFUL, so escorting more than 2 survivors was a pain, and there were no stairs in the original, so you’d have a bunch of survivors pushing each other, fighting to climb up a ledge.
Capcom has moved away from using union voice actors, that like the most likely reason TJ didn’t come back e: looks like TJ just straight up wasn’t asked to come back, which probably doesn’t have anything to do with his union status
@@seventeenducks7212 His last role for them was William Birkin for RE2 Remake, so it's doubtful that's the reason. Big chance it's just a creative decision.
Not sure about the new voice acting and some of the character models, but I’m very pleased with the environments, the quality of life improvements such as better survivor NPCs, and that they kept the gameplay mostly the same as the original. As a fan of the first couple games I’ll be picking this one up on release
It’s funny cause I just finished watching TheRadBrad play the original and I thought to myself they should bring this back. Here it is. The timing couldn’t be any better. 😂 This is what they should’ve done for lollipop chainsaw.
This game was one of the reasons I bought an Xbox 360 back in the day. I can't wait! So many little details they improved on that shows the people remastering it are true fans of the original.
I quite like his new design myself it's way better than DR4 I think. Like he's got the large nose, his hairline, I buy it. I also saw there's an alternate costume that uses his original design and face. I'll probably be using that one.
@@tomparkin2068 still no. Same gameplay, same environments, same everything. Just better graphics. A remake would look like a completely different game.
The remaster looks awesome. I just hope we get some superb contrast / light / color settings cause the realistic lighting makes it look darker than the original.
So Far it looks impressive, some game play shown and known issues have been addressed like the survivor AI and gun play. Minor issue with the whole more detailed look is that it makes it seemed off that unlike its counterpart resident evil, they try to make things serious while maintaining a comical tone. Definitely a buy if this means we get this franchise once rise up like it did 18 years ago.
As a Veteran i can say this looks very promising and it comes out before my bday, my birthday is on the 29th this comes out 10 days before hand very happy
I'm not sure that auto-save really benefit the game, i mean, dying will no longer be a problem and in my opinion, it was a big part of the tension of the first two games.
Difficulty shouldn't be forced upon the player. Auto saves is a modern feature that is utilized in every game we have today. There's no reason not to add it.
Auto save isn’t a problem, you’ll also have to manual save too because really too much on auto save may put you in a position where you many not have enough time to complete cases
@@snackylie Auto saves was around when dead rising was out in 2006, they could have use it back then but decided not to use it, it was clearly a design choice and removing that design is questionable.
the only reason that might be difficult is because that song was licensed, though from a band that's not hugely popular so we will see, same with gone guru
@@TheDragonflyzero that's the only thing I'm worried about. It looks good from what I can see. Im just worried the boss fights won't have the same music. Im sure these artists wouldn't mind getting paid for their music lol
set of stairs by the vent going to the safehouse instead of jumping and hoping the npc survivors quickly jumped up and not colliding with each other thats a very nice QoL improvement
@@luigifan001 I really meant getting rid of them respawning. It was annoying and frustrating trying to get to the other side of the mall and having to deal with them all the time
I remember watching the original trailer for this back in the day and being so hyped before getting a 360. This looks really cool, especially since they are updating certain aspects that maybe haven't aged as well.
How did they make the *remaster* look WORSE? Seriously, Frank's new voice and face are, seriously bad. Why was Steven's iconic shouting toned down?! Larry looks like they merely pasted Chef Antoine's face on him. At least Jo and Adam look good.
My only concern (aside from Frank’s new voice) is how dark some areas look with the realistic lighting. Kinda takes away some of the character of the original game.
Yeah when I saw the food court, it looked so hazy and dark. I loved the mall in the og because how clean and bright everything was. It literally looked like a actual mall that was abandoned as soon zombies entered.
Idk what y'all are talking about I remember the dark sections (especially in the under construction section of the mall) being oppressively dark on release
Only DR game I ever got to play was DR2, then DR3 moved over to Xbox exclusive which was devastating since I’m a PlayStation gamer. Looking forwards to playing DR1 for the first time!
Am i the only one bothered by the changed blood splatters? In the original the blood splatters on the ground and leaves blood marks, no other game did it like dr1
The made every character gross and if they don't have Gone Guru song theme for the convicts this will be definitely be the worse remake ever made, worse than the Warcraft 2 remake.
@@JohnConquest223 physical copies!?!?! GREAT. Here in Germany living a lot of grannies which loves to censoring games thats why I was hoping for a physical copy
TJ and Adam Clark not returning is a absolute deal breaker for me. They completely ruined the "THIS IS MY STORE!" line from the Steven Chapman psychopath fight.
Happy with everything but the new voices, hoping at launch or not soon after there is an option for the original VO, this new one already seems to lack the charm of the original
I’m SO glad they changed the gun controls, it was so annoying using the trigger to aim and X to shoot (if this could be changed in settings, I had no idea)
The game needs the difficulty and tension of the manual only saves IMO. It forced me to learn the mall layout and get more out of the game. Without that difficulty/tension I wouldn’t have loved the original the way I did. It is still my favorite dead rising!
i have some small notes here and there but really my only major concern is that there's no co-op. i feel like that's one of the major retroactive fixes that could really propel this version forward. fingers crossed they add in a sandbox mode with co-op similar to off the record!
@@strippymcroe6534 i agree that the main story doesn't need co-op but it would be a fun addition in another game mode! but maybe they're saving that for a DR2DR
I can't wait for the bad framerates and 70gb patch to come in the week and like always it's on the customer to figure out a way to play your broken game day 1.
@@tomparkin2068pretty sure it’s because even though they look completely new, they don’t change the core elements and the story while adding minor improvements
I just hope the camera distance can be farther and centered so that I can play it like the original game. the current one is a bit too close for my liking lol
“Gamers were captivated by the originality of the game’s concept…” come on now, I love this game but let’s not pretend the premise wasn’t taken directly from Dawn of the Dead.
@@fernychavez1404 because the flow of the game was designed to not have it. And to be abundantly clear I'm not saying they shouldn't have added it, just that it should be an option
Im excited for this remake/remaster of DRDR. I'm ready to buy this game, laugh, and smack down the zombies on this game. Thanks for improving this game
Other than the original frank West voice actor not returning this is everything I could have asked for. If this is good we could have a whole new dead rising series of games.
