Dude. Im so glad people are still interested in this game. Ive been playing it for years and im still learning about it from you through all this time. Thank You!
@WoomyBlitz it's not like dead rising has ever had very good characters anyway, so I don't see why that had bothered you. Do you really think that would matter when the legendary first game had such great "personalities" as Brad? The only interesting characters in Dead Rising other than Frank were the Keyes siblings. Dead Rising 2's only good supporting character was Rebecca Chang. I agree on everything else except for the area block (that's just standard game design) and the psychopaths being bad. Some of them sucked, some of them didn't. Hit and miss if you ask me.
@@STiP0 do a vid on dr 3 because I don’t think you realize the games upsides when you said dr4 followed in its footsteps in the uncertain future of deadrising
It seems like when it came to the actual characters in the game (Jessie, Isabella, etc.), they got touched up to appear more realistic with closer attention to facial details. What's interesting, though, is that they were able to maintain the charm and style they were going for with those significant changes. Isabella probably being the best example. I like her earliest model you showed us, but the final one still shows the appeal of her design. Unlike other developers, they didn't let this push for realism get in the way of their vision. God, I miss this so much.
Yeah. Alot of good games with a unique art style ended up canning the artstyle because of them trying to capitalize of modern graphical capabilities. Half-Life 2 was an egregious example. In it's earliest iteration the game was closely following the artstyle of HL1 during the 1999-2002 time period but ended up fazing out unique concepts like gas masks citizens so players could actually see their facial animations or the whole bit of a cartoonish landscape or dark skies so they could have realistic textures applied.
I'll never understand how Dead Rising went from being that one awesome zombie game I played as a tween to being a massive mystery of development and past ideas dropped in it's history and mysterious plotlines we've never got to experience, but would have loved to.
19:50 EM53 is a recycled character model from the game Shadow of Rome, his name is Sextus. Great game if you haven’t played it already, made by the same developers.
Something else I've wondered is if Dead Rising models were ever found in other Capcom games. Since DR might have been Capcom's first HD game to just have a whole lot of normal human models, which would work well as placeholders for so many projects.
I was literally just looking at your channel yesterday showing my brother how much DR content your channel has because we were playing through DR1. and I was even hoping a new video was coming! Immediately clicked when I got the notification. Crazy how you're still going, love all of the content please keep it up!
Hey stipo, don't know if you knew this, I certainly didn't until it accidentally happened in game. If you front kick a wine cask or a barrel (like the ones ontop of the shelves in the elevator room) Frank will curse and act like he stubbed his toe. Been playing the game a very long time and never knew that happened.
After seeing that footage of Brett or Kent at the time in the tgs demo you show, its interesting to see how in the final game no survivor is ever to be rescued from the super market in the north plaza
also, faces were stolen from actors for several models, both of brock's faces being from ed harris(with scars added), kay uses lindsay lohan's face and cliff uses michael rooker's face, always thought it was funny that capcom didn't get in trouble for this
i wonder if anyone who ever worked on these original textures and models will ever see this video, it must be kinda nice for them to see their work appreciated years later
The fact we are still talking about Deadrising along its behind the scenes content makes me believe that this game had the same impact as RE 4. BTW I'm the 666th like so I'm gonna cleanse my house with a sage in case some demons think of hunting me down 🤣
My fear is that one day you'll stop uploading videos about dead rising. God I fucking love this game, and honestly only the first one. The way the game was marketed in North America ultimately became it's downfall. It became a mindless hack and slash which the game was never about. Using weird items to kill zombies was a part of the game but now it's the whole game.
For the 2nd unused psychopath, I think it looks similar to Brandon, or that deranged CURE member from the 2nd game with the shard of glass. Maybe he was meant to be in the first game, but moved on to 2 because the first game already had enough content? Idk either.
Stipo man, please do a dead rising 1 lets play where you just play the game! Maybe drop little facts that haven't made a full video or something! Would love a long play to sit through!
After thinking on it, you're one of the reasons I finally got around to getting 100% completion in DR1. Such a fun game with a very interesting development history.
I have ZERO evidence but the tracksuit guy reminds me of the dude you fight in the bathroom in DR2. Obviously sequels use unused stuff from the previous game, my intuition tells me he has something to do with him
I'd guess the guy with the illuminati tattoo might have been from before they hammered out the details of the cult at all, like they knew they wanted one so they just whipped that together as a placeholder. The tattoo looks like an illuminati version of the 💩 emoji
I think the unused name Mr. Willabee was supposed to be for a psychopath dressed as a mascot based on the bee statue at the front of the mall. It was probably scrapped but then brought to the second game and turned into the psychopath Slappy.
Something this video shows regarding the details is that with other games, I normally see older models and think, "oh, I kinda like those more than the ones at release." But I don't feel that here since Capcom just kept upgrading them so much that all the final versions are way better than the beta ones
One of the greatest RU-vidrs of all time. Using your channel to shed light on such a fantastic Video Game. Your videos are top quality, always makes my day so much better when you upload x
EM53 could be an early cult member since the track suit is something the real life cult Heaven’s Gate wore when they offed themselves. But it could be some psychopath in a tracksuit or just placeholder Paul. But going with the cult concept, Sean also resembles Marshall Applewhite of Heaven’s Gate. EM42 leads me to think that he was a new member of the cult, that during his introduction as part of some initiation where he is to kill Frank. In the final game, the cult seems to be no importance to the game’s plot, so they really could had worked them in anyway they want changing things whenever. Frank getting captured by the cult just has him pop out of box and quickly slaughter everyone to escape. I almost think when in another scenario where the military has you tied up if they captured you. If this was the cult I could see EM42 about to sacrifice a tied up Frank. I find it odd that the only way the military captures you is if they kill you, where the cult will gas you and drag you off.
STiP0, I just want to thank you for covering this series so in depth, but thank you for focusing on DR1! I was 7 when the game launched, but it STILL has this ominous, dark, and depressing tone to it that really grounds you in the situation. Thanks for showing your love for the series and providing a safe community for others to do the same :)
STiP0, could you tell me how can I make a simple weapon spawning in DR1? Because I wanted to put rare weapons like the Heavy Machine Gun in places where it can respawn and use it in the begining of the game. But I don't know how to do it properly without crashing my game.
NOT TRUE JUST AN IDEA THAT COULD LEAD TO BREADCRUMBS!!! Carlitos best friend/assistant with the Willamette outbreak EM53 who also survived Santacabasa. Was more grounded in reality as a villain and hide in plain sight within the safe house and conversed with survivors while your primary focus would be on Brad. EM53 can be heard asking questions to survivors that you would have brought back You can hear him asking some specific questions to other survivors. Information on franks I.D and location during the prologue and through out the game to would be relayed to Carlito. Once his cover is blown or heard that Frank is helping Brad after shooting Carlito he is let loose into the mall. He could ambush the player by calling out for help, Jumping out of toilets due to limitations at the time/deadlines this event was scrapped and refined in Deadrising 2. Being mobile his move set was given to cliff hudsun for being too simple in design. His involvement with the story wouldn't make sense if he was killed off early on due to player decision making when encountering him in the mall similar to how survivors can be killed by Franks hand. whether or not another Ending was planned with his death in mind. Being early into production it's worth noting that EM53 was the ground works for the convicts and maybe had a similar scenario as to why EM53 was a reoccurring threat. When the convicts die this happens Gone Guru stops... (Only a joke) This happens. "If killed, they do not respawn until 6 hours later or until midnight hits, whichever comes first. Day 2, 12:00 AM - Convicts respawn if killed, with vehicle intact. If killed at this point, they will not respawn for another 24 hours."
I always wondered what kind of plans the dev team had for Jessie in that trailer she's seen running in the tunnels (away from Carlito), then Frank's find her deceased body. It's like her role was even bigger, in the final version Brad did all the work while Jessie was inside the safehouse the entire game (and managed to get infected).
Hey man! How're you doing during these tough times? Also, great video! I always found the models in this game interesting and this was a good indepth look into it.
In the final game when ed died to a zombie in the helicopter in ending A when you after go to the clock tower where he crashed his helicopter after being eaten by a zombie in overtime mode they nevered showed him in his helicopter because maybe he turned into a zombie and they nevered show him as a zombie in final game
The older crlito model looked like a gta LCS model what might have happened with the first boss or crazy was probably a second colt leader and the other boss could have been the old model of the boos you set on fire and put out
thank you for uploading this was a game my dad and i bonded over, funny enough i only had the wii version until we saw how much better it was on the 360, i came home to an xbox and we played all night this game deserves praise for years to come
I just recently found your channel, idk why it took so long for me to find it, but thanks for the content. I love this series, especially the first one, and now I have a lot of videos on your channel to binge watch 👍
Theory, NPC 07 would've been either inbred or a victim of some kind of accident years ago. So if he ever was going to be a survivor, he either would be one of the funnier ones, or sadder ones
Glad to see you back and doing a much longer format, really interesting. I wonder if EM53 was related to Paul? He looks like a young man with long unkempt hair and if he was meant to be psychopath maybe that's who it is.
