This really works, I dead headed my azalea after flowering and it’s putting out new leaves like crazy! I see some azaleas growing in peoples gardens and they just leave them at their own device. They look really sad and not healthy at all. They do flower good each year though. But I would like to prune them up haha.

The chicken plucking only removes the petals. Not the ovule. Removing the petals is good, because they can be a source of petal blight spores. And because they block sunlight by sticking to the leaves. Only some varieties set seed when pollinated only by insects. If the variety doesn't set seed pods, you can leave them on and they will shrivel, which will save time. However, some varieties do set seed pods. And then you have to either accept the energy loss, or go back in after the chicken plucking and still remove them 1 by one (or sometimes you can remove 2 in one go). The fastest way is to be early and twist or bend them off. If they set and begin to grow seeds, use the nail of your thumb to get them off. It is faster than using a scissors. You can just pull, but it risk taking leaves just around them with it.

Thank you as its been difficult until now not knowing how to deadhead these plants. Also could you please tell me what fertilizer you feed your Azaleas ... I would prefer to make my own natural organic plant food if possible 🤔

He made a similar video some time ago. And I did what he said last year and sadly it didn't work out the way it does with Peter. Not many flowers and I have at least 20 azaleas, so it is not a one-time off. One difference my plants are not in pots. He's good, too good for us mortals.

hi Peter not related to this video but I've airlayed 2 maples and they both had roots and ive chopped them and potted them in spagnum moss and in an inch of water but all the leaves had dried up have I lost them or will they come back next year

It looked like he cut a few nodes down but said cut just below the seed head? Which is it? Saw more of the cutting than the trimmed seed head. Why didn't he cut seed heads off all the ones he removed the flower from? What was different that only two trees could have the seed heads removed? No explanation, no close up, I feel I have less knowledge than before I watched the video. Seemed like showing off more than informative
