In this video, Attorney Morgan E. Leigh of Scrofano Law PC explains when Maryland self-defense law permits the use of deadly force. This video also explains important concepts in Maryland law, including the duty to retreat and the so-called "Castle Doctrine."
Maryland is not a "stand your ground" state and so in most circumstances the use of deadly force requires the individual using the force to retreat. There are exceptions to this general rule of which Attorney Leigh goes over some of them in detail. She also includes some hypothetical scenarios and discusses whether a judge or jury would likely find the hypothetical actions as justified under Maryland self-defense laws.
