I keep a large rawhide bone for my dog in my car for the same reason. Ever had to KO someone in self defense with a dog bone? It's quite rewarding actually.

several years ago while working investigations i would routinely carry a 16" ASP baton. i found myself backstage at a concert attached to the entertainment working a security detail. some jerks pushed there way backstage and were asked to leave and refused. we were in the process of escorting them out of the back of the venue and when we hit the crowd that was forming near that exit one of the jerks decides to grow a set and want to fight. he pushes my partner. i hit him with a closed mode ice pick strike about 4" over his left nipple and dropped him like a sack of potatoes. he cried like a little girl and oh we violated his civil rights and he got arrested to top off his night.

Cold Steel "threw in" a free Delta Dart, w/sheath, when I bought some close-out items from their catalog. It lives in the left sleeve of my fav knock-around jacket.

Not sure why but my wife keeps a Koga under her pillow and one in her travel bag...

There's an even cheaper option that is a mixture of a shiv a blunt strike tool and is far more inconspicuous... a friggan screw driver for $3...

I can think of another double ended thing I wouldn't want to be beaten with.... though it would probably be more embarrassing than anything.

For me, it's always been head butt (or elbow from hell), kick away and draw weapon. I don't like being in arms reach of someone especially when I can't see their hands. I'm not going to go toe to toe armed with a metal sharpie against a stranger.

Also, just to add to the conversation, a 6D incandescent Maglite is quite effective as a club and is completely legal to carry everywhere. I carry one almost all the time strapped to the side of my backpack in a holster. When I flew from Columbia, SC to Micronesia via Chicago and Tokyo I was never questioned about it once. You can also add a side handle and a glass breaking carbide tip to make it a multi-purpose tonfa. I haven't tried flying with those parts attached, though.

I appreciate the stoic outlook this channel has. It comes from very realistic place, making note of the evil in the world and the prevalence of it as well as the will to do good. It gives light to the need to be prepared and to think of these things BEFORE it possibly happens... these are the reasons I love this channel.

Very nice job nutnfancy at showing some of the Cold Steel Nightshade Series weapons! The Delta Dart is by far my preferred. And notice you weighted the Delta Dart with the steel ring otherwise if you would take it off, it would be ridiculously lightweight. You may be the first one on RU-vid to show the Delta Dart sheath on camera because I looked up and couldn't find before. It's like you said, they are lightweight, affordable, completely rust resistant.

i bought the fury and received it yesterday and mounted it on my babies stroller for my wife... she loves it and you dont know its there and very accessible ! also bought the fgx tanto blade for a back up truck weapon.....thanks for the review

I have a Surefire flashlight and it's air safe if you know what I mean. The aluminum body is definitely a viable impact device. It's not ideal, but for now they are ok for secure (and confined) areas and better than nothing. They also make a great flashlight too!

I recently started carrying around a "tactical pen". It's cool because it actually works as a pen too. Carrying around less than lethal options has the added benefit if you are forced to put a bad guy down because you can justify to the DA that you'd rather use less than lethal but you had no choice. Just some advice.....

I have the Cold Steel Tanto. I bought it after watching the video "Cold Steel Nightshade Series" here on RU-vid. At the end of the video they literally hammer it through a thick wood board and it doesn't break or deform.

I've always been a firm believer in the kubaton. Had to use mine once when i was on vacation in the city, and it probably saved me from a severe beating if not a worse fate.

FYI, if you bring a knife to a fight, no matter what end of it you use, it will likely be viewed as a deadly weapon/deadly force. It's a pretty low threshold to get charged with felony assault if you use/ possess any weapon, IMO. I'm a LEO. Thanks for everything you all do to keep us all safe!!

FGX blades with edges sandpapered back a little make awesome training blades. Highly recommended to buy FGX version (with the steel version) and get that muscle memory to reflex action.

I didn't ever see a possibility where I'd ever need to use a bladed weapon for self defense. Last year while biking, I was chased for nearly two blocks by a loose dog who nearly knocked me over twice. After that, I picked up a delta dart and zip-tied the sheath to the frame of my bike next to my frame pump. I hope I never need to use it, but in two very close instances I saw the very real possibility of getting knocked to the ground and attacked by a creature with a mouth full of sharp teeth and nothing to defend myself with.

hope they would make self defense thunderbeads.. so the attacker would be so grossed out that he/she would not attack you..

Love a lot of it; was completely unaware of cold steel's plastic knives that are actually useable, but would really love to see a knife/ weapon design made especially for the plastic. Wish I could have a baton here in Cali, and I'm unsure of the status with the other weapons. I'll have to look into it, nice little vid.

non lethal is always important. found a piece of steel hex bar at the foundry where I work. I cut it, ground it, heat treated it and slightly pointed the ends. its heavy though. I think I'll get a Shark or Koga. your videos on hand to hand tools and weapons are my favorite.

Weight IS important in an impact weapon but opposite being lightweight. F = M x A

Delta dart is way cheaper on eBay folks

In Sweden we can not carry any of these items and of course no firearms or knives. Funny thing is that improvised weapons out of completely legal items may be more lethal than for example a knife. I mean, carry an open lock in one pocket and a chain in the other, when in need just snap the lock on one extreme link of the chain and start smashing.

been considering the dart for a while now. trying to decide how and when to carry. it stabs, so possibly lethal so why not just knife the guy? seems like a good thing for a woman's purse. all batons are illegal to carry in Texas. guess it's guns and knives for now lol. I can carry an assault rifle or shotgun legally but not a collapsing baton????????

The Cold Steel plastic tanto is so sharp my uncle accidentally cut his hand with it.

Adding to this, even your house keys, pens/pencils, jacket, and shoe laces can be used as weapons. If you are a woman, knitting needles can be very effective, and if Asian, perhaps chopsticks. It is all about 'diversion' and keeping the sheeple at bay. The government tries its best, but it is impossible to completely disarm us.

I'll stick to my tanto, because i've practiced with it enough to strike with the blade and also with the back side. Which note is a fantastic blunt weapon if it don't have any hard edges, because even unsharpened edges will cut if they strike with speed.

These are great, but what are the odds that if they are attacking you they have a knife? It doesn't matter if it's a sharpened scissor blade or a katana both can kill. Knifes are easy to get and if someone is planning on doing any type of harm its best to assume they have one. The only time this gives you the edge in a fight is if either your impact weapon is long and they don't know how to disarm it or they are unarmed. However these are great for situations where a weapon needs to be low profile

Nutn, you might consider getting the missus a Cold Steel Honey Comb, a polymer dagger hidden in a hair comb!

Great video idea! I carried a pocket shark (peace of mind) in a semi-dangerous workplace that did not allow weapons of any kind. The shark and letters will sand off easily, to give a more benign appearance.One of the Cold Steel videos shows them hammering a FGX Tanto through a 2x4. I love the Delta dart. I have two. Everyone (good guys) should have one. Can be worn around the neck very comfortably.

Sadly, carrying most of these are as illegal (some like the expandable baton even more) as carrying a knife here in Spain. Here, we have to carry everyday objects as self-defence weapons, and oh boy if you use more than the required strength to disarm your attacker.

Having that in the shower is a fantastic idea. Lol

Great video! Another pou that I will consider one of those knives is for a weapon while trail running! I don't exactly want to bring a pistol on a 10 mile run but a plastic knife that is only a few ounces now that's more like it! Love the channel nutn keep up the good work!

I choose a glck 19 with bullet and primer sealed self loaded ammunition for my shower weapon. ya it rusts but it also works every time I take it out to run it.

That dart thing is pretty good, but that other stuff is just gimmicky. If I wanted a non metallic impact weapon, I could just whittle a stick into whatever shape I want.

I own a few cold steel Kogas (both the mini and the large) and, according to the draconian knife laws in the city in the United States in which I live, the Koga is just about the only thing I am allowed to carry. ANY knife of any blade length is not allowed to be carried for ANY reason by anyone in the city in which I live. The law also says if you need a knife to use for your job you must leave the knife at your job and only use it while you are at work during working hours (you can't even bring the knife to and from your job b/c it is illegal to carry ANY knife for ANY reason). The BAD guys don't care about laws so all this does is make it so 100% law abiding citizens like me can't carry a blade/walk around unarmed...and therefore empowers criminals even further b/c they know all the people walking around are unarmed and are plum for the pickens (and in this city in which I live, you guessed it, there is A LOT of crime).*****So all I can do if I want to follow the law (which i do) is carry a koga and "hammer fist" my way out of a violent crime situation, and if that's not enough, then I'm a dead man. Thanks stupid politicians!*****I don't own a firearm and have no real desire to own or carry one (for a variety of reasons I won't get into), I am a "Knife guy." I love my blades! I think the term "less than lethal" has been replaced by "less lethal" (not that I'm a hall monitor), due to the lethality of some of these implements.

I have the plastic tanto. thought I got a real cheap blade until after I ordered it and THEN read the description. darn alcohol.
