We heard about the upcoming plastic knife ban in New York and we got a little fired up. Lynn speaks his piece on the subject and we hope you all consider some of the points he makes in this discussion. www.coldsteel....
you can make a prison shank with a plastic cup and a heat element. It's not hard. You can sharpen a stick on a pavement. You can make a spear or sling from things you find in the woods. And hopefully someone does these things and uses them on these law makers because those weapons cause more agony than a gun or knife does when they kill someone. Let them contemplate their idiocy in a pool of their own blood as the slowly slip away into the depths of hell, where all traitors belong.
@SicSemperEvelloMortemTyrannis TyrannyEnder John Adams was the only one who walked the walk. He was openly against slavery AND didn't own slaves. If anything he's the actual American hero.
@SicSemperEvelloMortemTyrannis TyrannyEnder Nobody is finger pointing. I just said these are trash humans that ppl look up to. We're not talkin about Saudi Arabia. We're talkin about American hypocrisy. Freedom this and that and half the ppl werenr even free until th 1960s.
Rick Sanchez C137 And if they don’t say that everybody is allowed to carry whatever gun he wants in the street or airports is because probably is going to cause more violence and accidents.
Well, that would explain why laws don't help the people when rogue LEOs abuse their power. They're not for the people, they're there to protect their asses.
when you provide a fully armed guard for every new york resident to prevent robberies, assault or other forms of violence then your concept of an unarmed citizen MIGHT work...but we know that's not even the reason they are doing this...it's all about control and fostering a culture of dependence on the ruling class and pretending to care for others especially minorities
@@scottmantooth8785 "provide a fully armed guard for every new york resident to prevent robberies, assault or other forms of violence then your concept of an unarmed citizen MIGHT work." That's what the Germans convinced the jews of and it didn't work out so well. At least not for the Jews......
@@thomasjefferson1457 my point exactly...you can't trust those making the claims of caring for the defenseless by denying them the means of doing so...
It's not about reducing crime it's about controlling us gun owners when they decide to tax us to death and make other laws on how we are to live our lives along the way they want as to. It is so we will be unable to object to their authority. As in an authoritarian government. Fuck them... I WILL NOT COMPLY. Democrats can fuck off, as I will NOT be subjugated
I disagree. I think it could absolutely have an effect on violent crime. If a criminal doesn't have the capability to easily get a weapon, which draconian control measures could cause to happen for many criminals, they are less likely to be able to effect violence on others. With that being said... I don't think it is morally or legally okay to remove the right of a law abiding citizen to legally defend themselves from a potential attacker to provide that potential benefit. I also think when you look at the greater good, removing legal defensive weapon uses as an option makes everybody less safe overall. Especially with the amount of violence that exists in our country.
Lynn Thompson loves his products. He wants people to defend themselves with, and enjoy his products. You can see his creative joy as he talks about the things that his company has made for people. As a 2A Purist, it is disgusting that NY and any other State would outlaw these items outright.
@@SIGSAUER_P320 Okay.... There's a Home Depot literally next door to me. I can walk in, buy a long length of hardwood dowel, a multi-tool with a sharp blade and saw on it, a wooden file, some sand paper, and a roll of duct tape. Literally everything I need to make a wooden stake for hunting vampires. Or.... Conceal on my body while walking through a metal detector at a court house, if I wanted to. Non-magnetic. I'm not going to, because I personally have no reason to. But I could if I wanted to. None of those items are banned. None of those items are going to be banned in a few days. All perfectly legal to buy and possess. Governor doesn't give two hoots about public safety or protecting citizens. He's doing what every career politician does. Pretend to do something for the benefit of the people. Then, toss that back in their faces come election time. Get some positive press by pretending to make life safer for the common man. Ban something that no one or almost no one cares about, that you can pretend is dangerous. Zero opposition or practically none. Make a show of it. Claim you're "Tough on Crime," get free positive publicity from the liberal mainstream media. Remind people what you did come election time. The Governor knows full well this law will do nothing to protect anyone. He knows. He's not an idiot. It's ironic that the law goes into effect the day after Halloween. Make a couple of wooden stakes for stabbing vampires through the chest.... or a human-being in a court house after sneaking them by the metal detectors.
@@encyclopath It also explains why the ban is an exercise in futility. Anyone can cheaply make a mold and fill it with resin. I't even been demonstrated on YT over a dozen times. It makes me wonder if NY lawmakers are on drugs. And what happened to voting?
If you´re funny, you can melt plastic or even glass into a shiv and it´s good enough to kill someone. Heck, the glass one would even cut better than metal, but it wouldn´t last long.
edi Yeah, anything that has any sort edge, like paper (microscopic serrations basically, but you would need to spin it very fast to do anything) or is pointy enough will do the trick, sometimes it doesn't even need to be pointy if it's the right shape or heavy enough.
I’m glad we have companies like you who will stand up for the defense of the right to bear arms. Even if they are plastic knives. It’s still an attack on our rights. I may just have to start buying plastic knives from y’all.
I've used a few of these before in testing, I especially like the tanto. Everything he says about the specs is true obviously, but it still really is a bit mindboggling how light and capable these things are when you actually get your hands on one.
@Phillip Boyd - We do need laws. There must be a standard of right. Opinions change with the temperature. Opinions don't count. We can't afford another Hitler. You quoted one of God's laws. That is a standard that can't be beat. Fair for all.
@Phillip Boyd - And I wasn't defending laws restricting our right to defend ourselves. I think we should be able to carry period. People who murder should have the death penalty exercised on them without exception. Murderers should be executed period. Pedos, rapists, same. But God's law is excellent. A great standard for all mankind.
A few years ago I was a leo and I was assigned to sneak weapons into the courthouse through every checkpoint I was able to get the cold steel plastic tanto thorough. That being said I was able to get a .45 through ,2 of them telling them it was my belt buckle setting that off. It is not the weapon but the diligence of the staff. For years I carried a Delta dart for a last ditch effort a lot of reassurance for an ounce.
There's a video on here of a gangly teenager in jeans and a loose T-shirt, he does a 360, walks around on camera, nothing out of the ordinary save for a slight limp in one leg. Then starts pulling about 12 or 15 different weapons out from under his shirt, where they'd been tucked into his pants or held in an undershirt, or in his pockets. Notable pieces were a mini-UZI tucked in his pants behind his back, a machete from a vertical sheath above it, and a full-stock, 26" barrel pump shotgun that had been dropped down his pants leg, the stock partway up his torso, and held in place by tightening his belt. Suffice to say, someone wanting to conceal a weapon can and will do so. Laws only affect the law-abiding. Laws meant to hamper the ownership and carrying of weapons serve only to protect the government, not its people.
@@lawdogdaddyusa1255 I worked as a bailiff, and the "court liason officers" (deputy sheriffs assigned to the courthouse), would test the security guards (the unarmed contract guards who work the metal detecting machines). and it was amazing how inefficient the guards were. I guess one can't expect much for a $12/hour guard who can hardly speak English anyway.
The ONE time in my adult life someone entered my home unannounced and uninvited, I was in the shower. No foolin' I was getting ready for work at about 4am, almost 20 years ago. I still remember that feeling of helplessness very clearly. I came out screaming like an animal because I didn't know what else to do. I was very lucky it worked, but that hope and a prayer is not how I prefer to defend myself and my home.
Jerry G when that happened to me, I was living in NYS. Illegals had broken into my home. Fortunately I wasn't home but my 12 year old pet goat was and they decided that they just had to go out to her pen and strangle that gentle soul after they burglarized my home. NYS did everything in their power to sweep it under the rug. And they did!
Jerry I feel for you ...I've had multiple break ins here on my property in ga. ..in my case it was a barn and a vacant mobile home all of those were while I wasn't at home... There was one time there was an attempt to break into my residence though.. again I wasn't home but my dog stopped that
@@usernamemykel no, but it's very, very clean.. lol. Just kidding. It not IN the shower with me, just within arms reach if I open the shower door... Under a towel as to be not readily observed...
Prohibiting self defense tools that protect our family’s should be outlawed itself. If they wanna pass laws, I say let’s pass some right back defending freedom and our families.
I carry knifes since 9 years old. It’s a huge part of my life and identity of self reliance and righteousness re: kindness, charity and protection of all love and goodness to all innocent creatures.
@@csknives can you make one of those tri twisting bladed daggers lol probably not. I think it's illegal. But I want one. And the metal one is too expensive. Castle law If someone breaks into my house I want to make sure his wounds cant be sewn up. Their evil deeds end then and there
As a knife maker I can say that Cold Steel makes quality blades. Many production knives aren't very good steel or properly heat treated. Cold Steel blades are both
I stay in a country where it was made almost impossible to legally own a gun. And guess what happened when they brought in these laws? Violent crime where firearms are involved skyrocketed. Criminals are using illigal guns against law abiding people that they know won't carry guns. Bottom line is that to ban something that people use to protect themselves will just make matters worst. Criminals don't follow laws.
@@heaththompson3834 first off wtf was that roast if you want to call it that, I'm not saying is not innovative but they are not the leading company in innovation look at crkt they just released the dead bolt and a few years back the field strip they also have other knives like the snaplock and the autolawks system weather you like crkt or not you can't deny that they have cold steel beat in the realm of innovation.
@@wflo77 I agree with you for the most part. It's just you just made a statement and trailed off for 10hrs. Cold steel is a diverse "cutlery" company. But not everyone's cup of tea. You took the ribbing well.
For now unfortunately people from nanny states are leaving them for places like Arizona, Nevada and Texas because they made their state unbelievably expensive to live in and now they are moving to ruin those states all I'm saying is prepare for a collapse
Hate to burst your bubble, but you are today where Nevada was 5 years ago. .... Nevada was ultra free, now they are starting gradual chipping away. Arizona... got its first Marxist senator now

I can't be the only one here to remember when Demoncraps scoffed when we said that they would move on to knife control after they had enacted gun control. Pepperidge Farm remembers.
I work on equipment in San Antonio courthouse. I carry a XL talwar every time. Granted I enter through the dock and there are 0 signs for any weapons or detectors.

Lynn is genuinely a great American. Proud to own many of your knives. Thanks for not just making great knives, but all kinds of defensive weapons. You guys really have thought of everything.
This is why I love Cold Steel. They are a 2A company with strong morals and ethics. Unlike a lot of companies lately, they understand and support First Responders of all types. Just as much as they support and advocate along with yourselves for the common man.
I give sincere thanks to Lynn Thompson for innovating these excellent self defense weapons and producing them via his company Cold Steel. Lynn, your company and its product lineup are unique in all the world. Please keep up the excellent work!
I love Lynn's vision for Cold Steel. I have over 30 pieces including one of these "plastic" Delta Darts. Every piece I've ever owned is A+ superb quality. I buy nothing but Cold Steel. I'm surprised he didn't have his mini Koga in this plastic display. Not a knife but they last forever, are super sturdy and do a lot of damage! They fit right in your hand and have a nice "point" on both sides. Excellent products every time! Thanks Lynn! No one beats Cold Steel.
I'm a security guard. Part of me wants to say, "couldn't we just require a 2-inch-long, quarter-inch-thick steel rod to be embedded in the blade during manufacture? Then you would get all the advantages of plastic (light, cheap, weather-proof) while still being detectable?" The other part of me looks at all the metal water bottles I'm told to let in, which can easily be used a clubs, and says security is a joke anyway.
I love that Lynn decided to start cold steel I’ve always loved the way he promoted his stuff to even though a lot of people have talked smack about that he shows you how tough his stuff is just awesome amounts of weaponry great company great guy
NYS position on firearms is known. It is now making its position on these knives known. The common denominator is that people who are intent on harm will find a way to enact that desire regardless of laws, and the people who _want to obey laws_ are punished.
Chris Paterson we don’t have school shootings every week, it’s not very common and happens a handful of times a year. Our problem isn’t an inanimate object it’s criminals and mentally ill, we used to lock unstable people away from society in institutions now that’s “wrong” so they allow them to just walk around society. We used to execute violent offenders or lock them away and never release them, they now are often released right back onto the streets after bail is payed “drug money”. We didn’t have these issues to this extent a few decades ago, these are recent issues that have started.
Chris Paterson Tell them about the daily stabbings in the UK again, despite the ban on carrying even a pen knife. Tell them how the bad guys always carry them while the good guys are like sitting ducks. Go on.
Years ago, my ex was a correction officer. During training her instructor hid various weapons about his person and had the ENTIRE CLASS search him individually.... The found several items, razor blades, pencils, all kinds of stuff that was a weapon or could be utilized AS a weapon. After some time, each trainee exhausted their search and declared him "clean". Then he started taking weapons and potential weapons off his person and clothing ALL had missed.
Who’d circumvent security with a plastic knife when you can use carbidized titanium? It’s also lightweight, rust proof, and durable but it also takes a much Kenner and very durable edge. These great knives that CS makes could be used for self defense but I think that they make much better training tools after the edge has been purposefully dulled and the tip blunted. Keep up the great work Mr. Thompson.
Time to buy some plastic knives for myself, the governments don’t want us to have it? That’ll just make people want them more and create a black market.
I haven't watched a vid of your in a real long time..but when I saw the knife ban..scccreach..hit the brakes..watch the vid..it a stupid law..on,y a criminal will use these tools to hurt a nother person..
I recently had 3 cold steel Katanas stolen from my storage - made a police report - I am MUCH more concerned by the damage those could do vs. a plastic knife
Thanks for another great video. I work in courthouse security in the state of Tennessee where it's legal to carry just about any knife and it is a big concern. But I agree with you whole heartedly a law abiding person should be able to protect themselves and their loved ones and if a strong plastic knife is all you can afford a person should be able to buy it. Love your company , if your looking to expand think about Tennessee. Your products are very popular down here. Happy customer and interested viewer. Lincoln Stinson
We martial artists also train with plastic knives. I am sad to say that I am not surprised that NY legislators would not want people to learn to defend themselves from the bad guys...NY legislators have no regard for your rights, least of all your right to self defense. Sigh. So typical of them.
HexagramMan lol damn that’s nuts.... But don’t worry, they are flooding the state with South American illegal immigrant gang members... so crime will go down XD
Many years ago I bought a plastic KFS set, a couple of minutes on the belt sander made that little camping cutlery knife incredibly sharp. Never had a problem at airports. I read that ceramic sushi knives are very good.
