The steve punishment wasn't optimal lego-stepping pain, you see, the nost painful lego-stepping experience requires 3 factors: 1) hard wood floor, the rug/carpet decreases the pain 2) a solitary square lego piece, preferably a 1x1x1 or a 1x2x1 are the most painful- why, you ask? Simple, the smaller the block the more tiny edges and corners to pierce your foot in a much smaller area 3) normal walking pace - when you step on a lego on purpose you might unconciously step using a less painful part of the foot, while if you were walking normally you will both put full weight on it as well as not pick the area to land on Believe me hopcat, it *hurts*

The reason why the lego punishment didnt hurt him was because when you step on one lego, all of your foot's weight is being supported by that one lego, and it hurts. But with multiple legos, all the legos are equally distributing his weight, to the point where it doesnt hurt his foot. Hoped that made sense
