With the ring of doubt, you can enter stealth when not attacking, and you automatically critical hit when attack from stealth, thus allowing us to maximize the critical damage for this build.
Huh, video ended a bit abrupt, but I loved the build! It’s really close to how I’ve been playing mages recently! Good idea using energy barrage to weaken defense against fire. One thing I’ve noticed about the ring of doubt tho is that the auto crit is applied for a brief duration when coming out of stealth to all hits, which means if you can time energy barrage to land just as you attack/come out of stealth, you can get most or all of it to crit. The same I think goes for the timed detonation of fire mine (which would allow you to flank or attack from a distance), but that could be more planning than it’s worth. Generally I’ve had the best luck with explode on kill as a masterwork tbh. While I don’t quite get the 21-25k fire mines, I still get 16-20k and a wave of chain reactions (though sadly these can’t crit, but still usually do 5-9k if I’m remembering correctly) that decimate mobs. I tried WB, but the rng was frustrating and it was hard to time a second stealth exit with the detonation to guarantee a crit, so it wasn’t so flashy. Though, with a necromancer, I did have quite a bit of fun with it clearing the deep roads getting some great numbers! That first room lit up like crazy Anyhow, glad to see this build!
Should've used the WB masterwork, but the footages were recorded and I'm too lazy to do it again. 😕 The explosion on kill is not bad too, and it seems unaffected by the modifiers, thus it doesn't matter if it crits or not
Been contemplating doing another DAI run for a while now but wasn't sure what to do next. Have always been hesitant to play a mage Inquisitor and could never commit to one, but this video sold me on doing a mage playthrough. This looks like such a cool and unique play style, I just hope I can get it online quick cause early mage is such a drag imo.
Would you ever do a video that goes over what you think is the highest damage for each class/spec. Wondered as all these builds look fun, but what wows even you?
Ok, but chaotic focus doesn't boost flaming array. It just consumes half of barrier. You have to use searing glyph to get a damage boost from chaotic focus.
@@RPGBUILDER33 Chaotic Focus does boost Flaming Array but only if you cast Fire Mine (no upgrade or with Searing Glyph) with a barrier before using Flaming Array. It inherits the Chaotic Focus from that one-time cast and keeps it until you cast Fire Mine (without upgrade or with Searing Glyph) again. This is a bug in your favor. In other words, switch to Searing Glyph, cast barrier then cast Fire Mines. Switch to Flaming Array, you'll have Chaotic Focus permanently. Try it out.
Just realized a few things Winter stillness and combat clarity dont stack Going above 190% crit damage bonus wont have any effect Masterworks of the same tier and same bonus wont stack (tier 3 hidden blades on hit 10% on both armor and weapons wont stack but they will if the ones on the armor and weapons are different tiers)
@@RPGBUILDER33 there indeed is at 190, but it has no effect whatsoever anyway, it has effect with rift mage, KE is better off with ~130 - 150% crit damage, rest magic to boost damage, its not the after launch "spam blade to be invulnerable" kind of KE anymore. Also Tidarion is probabz the worst weapon for KE if i put aside low tier staffs, i always go for Lovias
What does attack do for staff? Increase normal attack? Or does it affect skill damage aswell? Edit: because I thought "Magic" increases the skill damage, not "attack"?
Doesnt realy work that good in Trespasser, qunari there are elemental resistant for some weird reason, the only thing that somewhat works is freezing them in place and lightning spells like cage, explosive bolt and so on with virulent bomb on the blade and them shawhatever qunari mages are whole different story, i have ended up smashing them with spirit blade as literally nothing works :(
