I think Deadpool keeps getting canceled based on no research. That since Deadpool doesn’t make the sales he did at his height. They probably see each run as a “fail” and don’t let it get its legs. Hell Duggan was writing around the height of pool mania and his more serious take lead to it having growth and having its own identity.
I think Deadpool isn't selling not due to his popularity, the mania of popularity 2011 to 2016 brought about not just Duggan's run, but a bunch of elseworld's trades etc, he was featured heavily in other titles. They were throwing merchandise as well and other stuff oddly enough. I honestly think the hype train just deflated after the first movie and his character has become kinda on hiatus like you said because they don't feel they can reach those levels again.
Ok i did not read the books but before spider-gwen came to the 616 they should of made her reveal her identity and make it public so people can actually call her spider-gwen and we can get rid of that horrible name they made up for her ghost spider is such a bad choice for her name so bad I'm happy she's coming to the 616 they should have done that after the first spider-verse movie came out she became super popular after that and now most people know who spider-gwen it's like a household name now they should just call her spider woman I mean does the other Spider-Woman need that name anyway
Yeah the spider-man world wide jump eventually broke me i get that it was coming out of secret wars but pete literally just got his life back learned he owns a bleeding tech industry decides to shift the companies direction because HE didn’t know anything nano tech (guy your the boss just higher some one) but before he could get his barings we got Silk, and spider-vers and then secret war. Next thing i know Peters in China dating a different Asian Woman who’s his Mechanic cause we have a spider-mobile again, He’s teaming with Mocking Bird and doing odd jobs for SHIELD fighting the Key and his Zodiac friends (me forgetting he’s Nick fury’s brother untill the book reminds me at the end of the arc) then he disassembles his company so hydra Ock can’t muck with it after Dead no More. Wouldn’t have been so bad had the whole thing been built like a story instead of a jarring sudden jump to the action. (Did I miss a side book or something before World wide, it haunts me, Slot. Haunts me) Might just be my tin foil but i feel like “they”re giving the web head the same treatment the X-Men and Fantastic Four got when marvel tired of sharing their toys with Fox. Only Spider-man is to big and doesn’t have a fudgeable alternative that Sony wouldn’t also own to lean on. Not that their powers or more than the most superficial layers of their personal lives are comparable but Spider-man is the Superman of Marvel as the heart and soul of their companies
Unlike miles who could just as easily moved over with his story just taking place in the 616 just minus the spider-man death (even though they mucked with it anyways) Gwen’s universe is to alt characters are gender bent or inhabiting vastly different positions (not saying it’s bad, i think it’s rad) but they don’t shift as easy they could always have gone the Bishop route my home doesn’t exist anymore so i’m here now, but thats a little cop-out to me (odds are thats what they’ll do, i mean she had a 616 counter part she died her death was one of the three even though her dad was just as dead and longer they never counted him and even he was brought back at least once
This is a misconception. Comic Deadpool is a lot more “out there” and unhinged than the movie. The movie Deadpool is more comedy leaning. But in the comics he can be a straight up psychopath.
It entirely depends on the book. Deadpool (1997) by Joe Kelly is fine in terms of jokes but it's a lot less violent than the movies. But most runs since then have been similar or more out there than the movies.
I agree with sal on Deadpool, i love him (at times) but if i’m honest i feel his zany fringe and extreme humor is pas’e now, not that it can’t work still, but with the exposure and over saturation of his own books and the variants and off shoots (newer characters made aping off Deadpool’s style and characteristics) has soured him the movies work because they one hit the mass public that don’t buy in to the week to week or month to month so to them it’s still refreshing, and are also small doses of him, as a side character in other things he’ll do good but stand alone at this point i feel will only move the cult audience he appeals towards and not hit the main stream comic success of his days of old
I'm pretty sure Disney does want to buy Spider-Man and his film rights from Sony I think Sony is in it for the long run though especially with the big hits that were the Spider-Man video games for the PlayStation Sonny knows they have a cash cow they're not going to sell Spider-Man to Disney or to anybody I think Spider-Man is permanently going to be a Sony character specially because Sony pictures doesn't have any other big hits I'm pretty sure Spider-Man is bringing big cash bags to their front door so I don't think they will sell it I'm sure Disney would love to buy Spider-Man to keep him in the MCU I just hope that Tom Holland stays in the MCU and maybe they can have their own Spider-Man in the Sony universe
And they somehow failed to understand the core concept of superheroes and comics itself is they’re expressions of art and that doesn’t mean catering to your very harmful and weird sensibilities
