So that stupid snowflake made up word "banger" is here to stay, right? 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤡🤡🤡🤡 everywhere I look in every RU-vid music video, everybody uses that same stupid "word" to describe a song that sounds good, not some fairy generation type "word" sadly nowadays you have to conform to what is hip and cool and talk like the "in crowd" bow down and do what liberal society commands of you or else be cast out like an outsider for not conforming to the ways of the world, truly sad and pathetic what this world has become, a world full of followers instead of leaders
I got this CD randomly as a teenager and listened to it all the time... and then forgot about it for 20 years until I read the words "Gramercy Park" and sang it to myself. Glad to see I'm not alone and a lot of people are still listening!
Been 23 years and I'm still blown away by their originality. I don't care what people say about them sounding like other bands of the time, I always thought they had the edge, image and sound are like no other. I still can't believe they never got more popular. The other guys sounded like each other, Deadsy sounded like Deadsy and I'll forever be a huge fan. I'll always be awaiting the next album! I still have the blue bone wristbands, unfortunately my blue shirt with the logos on back just got worn out from like 1,000 washes! DEADSY FOREVER!!!!
Isn’t it incredible when a song you haven’t heard in years suddenly pops into your head, and you remember every lyric? It’s like rediscovering an old friend. Music is wild 🤘🏼😭🔥
Yes it is. I've said the exact same thing before it's like running into someone you haven't seen in 20 years. It takes a second and then it's like oh shit I remember this.😂😂😂
I remember walking around NYC I think 2002 a little after this came out. We stumbled across a tall fence and a sign that said Gramercy Park. It was a small private park you needed a key to get in. There was a guy chilling smoking a joint on a bench. It was cool because the song made perfect sense to me after that. It's a little sanctuary in a big city.
Its a very elite park you have to own a very expensive home along that street to have a key to, which is where the rest of the visuals in the lyrics come from.
That’s so funny you say that. I remember around 05-06 visiting nyc with my friends and we were smoking a j by a gate of a park and seeing a sign labeled “gramercy park”. I immediately got my I pod out and showed my friends the name of this song.
The New Yorker Hotel also has a Gramercy Park meeting room. At Big Apple Comicon a couple years ago, I took a photo of my hand holding a key in front of the door to that room. I thought it was funny at the time.
@@jimmie-satx fuck yeah they were! I used to walk around town with my friends drinking soda, playing basketball, hearing good music, having fun and not giving a fuck!
2023 and the song just popped into my head out of nowhere before I went to bed. Didn't even think I find it. I love the way he says gramercy Park. I just realized how much I like this song
They were way ahead of their time! Listening to this now totally fits the current trends of music people listen to now a days. And I’m not talking about radio friendly shit. Im talking about the stuff you dig up and discover then over time the musicians develop a fan base just to suddenly blow up over the years…. Making you assume they would never because you felt like you were the only one who listened to them… until you attend their live shows just to see them sell out of tickets or be fully crowded. I’d put them along the lines of Drab Majesty,The Garden, Carpenter Brut, House or Harm…. Pretty much all the unconventional bands that are getting a lot of fan! Now if they reunited I’m so Fucking sure of them making a really impressive comeback!
I remember this song well from my teenage years and being so interested in the lead singer, Elijah Allman, since he's Cher's son! Straight talent. This video and Orgy's Stitches video would play on MTV and were my favorites at that time.
These guys and Orgy were my life back in High School. Good memories man. I even went to Lowe's and got some plastic chain to make my own necklace and Elijah Blue (P. Exter Blue) shirt. I hear they're working on new stuff!
you should really check out zeromancer's eurotrash album. it came out around the same time and god damn does it take me back. they don't make it like this anymore
I am literally here, because I thought this was Orgy. I slept on so much shit when I was younger. Lmfao! Too busy with Pot and Fuck boys, I guess... 🤷♀️🤣
I was 15 years old when this epic video first aired on MTV and it blew my mind! I got super pumped upon each viewing! Elijah's monstrously melodic vocals and the synth-induced trance rock was unlike anything I'd heard before! Deadsy will forever hold a special place in my heart!
@@moustachio334 Interesting, i don't think I've ever heard that term before. I know that they are both associated as a part of the Nu Metal scene but i never knew about the whole Death Pop thing, that's interesting.
I'm so mad I didn't get into these guys back when this came out. I liked this song but never gave the album a chance... Something led me to it in the last 6 months I'm absolutely in love with it. It's just perfect top to bottom.
They released Phantasmagore in 2006 and they haven't done anything since. There have been rumors of a return, but I've been hearing them for years and 2 or 3 or the original members have quit or started on different projects since then.
Good lord this album still sounds amazing, even 20+ years later. A shame these guys never got the recognition they deserved. I love all their stuff, big fan :) if you're listening to the whole album on here "winners" is also amazing. Trust me, the whole thing is art from start to finish. Back when people produced good albums and not just 1 or 2 singles and the rest is trash. ❤
@@y3ee3e Not even nu metal wtf. Would be placed with Orgy, Stabbing Westward, Godhead, and Powerman 5000 etc. It might be confusing when they toured with bands like Korn and may have gathered a fanbase from nu metal fans.
Large amounts of nostalgia from ATV Offroad Fury 2. Loved the game as a kid. This was my favorite song out of the whole soundtrack. I even like this song today, especially the parts where he uses the keyboard.
Never in my life have I left a comment on a RU-vid video, but this one deserves it. These guys were underrated as fuck. In fact, I signed in just to leave this comment. I could have saw them live in 02 with KoRn. 11 years later, I regret that I missed them. Good night.
I've been racking my brain over this song/band. It was one of my late brother's favorite songs. I remembered the "gramercy park" and finally found it. Thank you!
Powerful sound that comes out just swinging. Commencement was a great album. Everyone else says it but damn I can't believe they didn't achieve greater success b/c all the ingredients are there. Great songs, album content, lead singer is the love child of two BMFs. It's a producer's wet dream, the type of shit that gives birth to long lasting franchises
Keanu Huezo Witty, but yes. I'm just going with the flow and creating new terms every day for something that already has a name. There are probably 100 or so titles for different bands in Rock, but at the end of the day, they're all still Rock. Rock, "Pop", Jazz, Funk, Blues, Country, all with sub genres. Though some are said to be the birth of another, I don't get picky. Regardless..! Goth Techno-Emo Nu-Wave Alternative Grunge Death Metal Rock is the new term sir or madam!
I remember this show on mtv in the 2000s that was based on kids of the famous. A tiny clip of this song with that gorgeous extended vocal at the end. I never knew what it was or where until i came accross it again today. That was almost 20 years ago... sooooo happy to have finally found it!
This is such a good music video!!! My god this gets me PUMPED UP! Elijah looked amazing here! Such good energy with the band all around! They were ON POINT and ON FIRE here.
I do not understand why this shit didn't completely explode into massive success. I took a two year vacation from work and drove all over the country with this song cranked up regularly. Fuck.... yes.
Wow three years later hearing this song brings tears too my eyes, it's a song I used too listen too younger with my headphones.Growing up in a small town folks didn't understand he nailed it.Thank you for this jem! 💎
Deadsy represents the aspects of society--medical industry, illegal industry, tragedy/death, religion/anti-religious/educational industry, and sports. And all five are fueled by the entertainment industry.
The thing in-of-itself...on and on... whether it's coherent or otherwise is immaterial. That's what I hear when I listen to Deadsy. Sincere songwriters are always but passengers and scribes on the galley of the s.s. metaphysical.
Did you know Fred Durst directed this video? Main singer Elijah Blue Allman is Chers son Key to Gramercy park he says in the time of mother speed (maybe cloning) with evil eyes and make believe (aliens) is where we bare our supremacy mark (666?) But weird in the song winners he sings "Let the Heavens make it right." By the way Rael says human cloning is eternal life. Be not deceived. I do love the artistic aspect of this video. I love you guys Deadsy hope you make more music soon. I love the song Mansion World
Can we just take a minute to appreciate the genius of Elijah Blue? This band was amazing. I mean, Mansion World’s lyrics are otherworldly. Their covers of Brand New Love, Tom Sawyer, AND Paint It Black are just second to none. How they didn’t blow up is beyond me. They were very niche, I suppose.
"Can we just take a minute to appreciate the genius of Elijah Blue?" Wait, you mean this is SERIOUS? I literally thought I'd stumbled onto some sort of brilliant parody video until I scrolled down to the comments. Yikes.
@@GarrettLoganGriffin I thought this was supposed to be some sort of parody comedy video making fun of early 2000s nu metal, right down to the fact that Fred Durst is credited as the director. I'm stunned to discover that it's serious.
Strange, given that its my era of music and i never heard of that band before?! Today randomly it started blasting from spotify. I immediately got hooked to the sound and came to the web to get more info. Very unique and memorable vocals!
This band is incredible because the singer is the son of Gregg Allman and Cher . Literally a musical prodigy. He literally sounds like a male Cher it’s so wild
that just means he was trained since birth. its not a magical gene lol. do you get goosebumps from music? if so you can do it too. its a special thing to feel it.
So almost 20 years later and I finally understand what this song is about, it's about having complete access to one of the wealthy neighborhoods in Manhattan being a spoiled rich kid hanging out with your friends in that neighborhood and then going around Manhattan doing rich kid things with money from your pop star mother and not really caring about anything else because your mom is so wealthy and so famous you got the key to Gramercy Park essentially whatever. I know that probably sounds really stupid but that's all I can think of otherwise this song has actually no actual meaning.
i freaking cant get enough of this song!! i dont know why its so addicting? itunes says ive played the song 11 times and i know i have watched the video at least 5 times, and almost every time i cant help but jump the fuck around like im in a mosh pit. i have no idea how this band slipped passed me because i had heard of orgy back in 2002, but i was also in h/s. i would love to see this band get back together. #gem
This song and band just have the coolest, darkest, most unique and particular vibe. I miss when bands were truly unique and weren't afraid to really think outside the box. This band literally invented their own genre.
gorrillafoot, i mean, dude says he wants to be called “under core”... nothing too original about these guys at all. If gary nu-metal newman and korn had a freak baby with NiN it might sound kinda like orgy. Haha!
@@roymarius1634 Oh boy, have I run into another metal elitist douchebag who's going to try to tell me that nothing even vaguely original ever came out of an entire time period? Gregg Allman and Cher had a baby and it decided to make hard edged 80's synth rock with an alternative metal edge. If that's not surprising enough for you I don't know what to tell you, pal.
Man I miss these dudes... the second major release was decent too, but it would be awesome if all of a sudden they popped up again all decked out in this original gear with some high energy "undercore", haha. I think the biggest problem is the lack of a fan-base... I mean, sure there are thousands of people who like them, but I think it was to the point where they couldn't really afford to pursue ONLY Deadsy, it just wasn't getting enough attention to pay the bills. Hell... even if they just threw some new albums out from time to time, it would be great... most new music is garbage.
It's what they fucking call themselves.. I don't give a shit about genres which is why I put it in quotations... if you don't like them at all what the fuck are you hanging around here for anyway?
Sabe qual é a sensação de escutar uma música em 2003 no jogo atv 4 e não saber o nome da música por 17 anos? E ter ela na mente até hoje e do nada encontrar em 2020 essa música, aconteceu a poucos minutos... tô muito feliz!
Members of Players Club and the National Arts Club as well as guests of the Gramercy Park Hotel, which has 12 keys, have access, as does Calvary Church and the Brotherhood Synagogue. The keys are very hard to duplicate with each individually numbered and coded.
I heard this song on ATV 2 but I became a huge fan of this band and literally did what I could to find guitar tones that used. I appreciate this band even more now as a producer.
This song takes me back to my angry teenage years! First heard them via this video on Much Music USA. Fell in love with them immediately. Bought commencement asap, and stuck around until Phantasmagore. I wish they'd come back. They were so different, very experimental. Very talented.
