Said the exact same thing, I was working at a Multi-line dealer at the time. The car should have been built on the Panther Platform with the Interceptor Engine.
I’m shocked Rabbit doesn’t have a ton more subscribers. Rabbit reminds me of the southern accent version of my dad who also sold cars for 40 years. I would be willing to bet Rabbit probably has a cool Delorean story or two.
Another great episode from Mr. Rabbit...I remember being at the Seattle Auto Show when these were new and one was on podium and the presenter was commenting," It's a solid, quality feel- weighing in at 3800 lbs..." Looked at the wife & said," That's a bird of pork"
Dealers are funny folks sometimes, I have been in the industry for over two decades and you hear a lot in that time. Back in the day I was the GM rep for some Dealers up in Maine. There was a GMC dealer across from a Chevy dealer. They got in a missing match one day, a customer wanted a Crewcab, big block, 4x4 3500 pick up. They both had one, and the customer spent the day walking back and forth across the street, working the dealers. It quickly became a game of not who was going to make money on this deal, but who was going to loose the most on this deal. It was a crazy game of chicken... long story short the customer got a brand new Mac Daddy crew can for over $7000 behind triple net.
1st off, I'm an incredibly big fan of you and your channel. I always thought that the v8 option in the new body Thunderbirds was the smaller 3.9, same as the Lincoln LS sport sedan. Again, big fan and congratulations on your Netflix series!!!
I love those Thunderbirds. They’re not fast, but they are great cruisers. I think it’s a good reimagining of a classic car that is part of feels like the American dream. Work hard all week and on the weekend take your girlfriend out on the town in your Ford Thunderbird.
6:08 The supercharger for the 15 prototype high performance t-birds was a McCulloch. After beating the speed record held by a corvette (by 6 mph an impressive nearly 140mph) they built 195 t-birds with a Paxton supercharger to commemorate beating the record.
Even as a completely blind individual, I could see Rabbit’s expression during the jaguar remark 🤣. I had a similar opinion about the T-Bird when it reappeared in the mid 2000s. Looked good, but needed at least one option with some power. (I did not lose my vision until 2008, so I did get to see the T-Bird.) It didn’t need to be a powerhouse, but something with a little rumble. Thanks for the double shot of Rabbit today. 👍👍
Gotta love a double dose of the rabbit first vinwikki then his own channel and he just lives over the mountains from me here in East Tennessee gotta love it
10/10 pronunciation saying Jaguar at the end lol. There are a few of these cars in the UK funnily enough. Our relatively non strict import laws have ensured a few interesting things come over
I think you're right about hp and the retro birds. I also think they would've been more popular and had longevity if the headlights and taillights would've been more retro, maybe even vertical like original. Look at mustang, challenger, and charger design compared, vs their longevity. Great dealer story, thanks for sharing
I think I know the two dealerships Rabbit is referring that are just outside of G'ville!! If I"m correct I pass by at least twice a week making deliverers.
I like the Thunderchicken, Pitts! 🥰😂😂 I’m a big procharger big displacement kinda girl. 488X and it puts 2940 HP to the rear wheels. One day he’ll let me do a pass in it.
Awesome car! I got to drive several when I worked for my Dad at Mid-State Tire. After driving the new (in 1989) Thunderbird SC with Sunroof, leather interior, 5spd, and IRS it made me a believer! These cars are underappreciated! Ahead of their time. Chevy went to Luminas in 1989....NASCAR should have never allowed that BS. We ended up with Toyota Camrys, beginning of the end for NASCAR.
@@clintdavis9511 Thunderbird was the last true 2 door car that NASCAR ran in what was then the Winston Cup series until the Chevy Camaro came in the series a few years ago.
@@rabbits_used_cars I know that it was limited production, but let's not overlook the 2000 Cobra R. And few will disagree, the Fords would rarely lose at a car show....
I think the 4 door bronco will blow up like the jeeps. But a lot of guys that are buying them for themselves because they already have family haulers, they will get 2 doors.
If you remember correctly the prototype ford took to the auto show of the t bird was a huge hit and then when the production model of the t bird came out it looked nothing like the car from the auto show and was a flop.
Clint Davis yea I think most people don’t care for the body lines, as well as 2 seater trucks are a thing of the past as well. And most people simply over looked the 6.0L engine in later years.
Though those Tbirds were neat looking but not enough for me to buy one..now a 67-68 tbird Landau coupe convertible..yea really like them. The Broncos are supposed to be an alternate to a Jeep, folks want 4 doors they got a line of them SUV's... I'm a Jeep guy,I like them alot but I'd never pay the money they're asking for them, that's completely Ludacris, I don't buy a Jeep to ride around in parking lots with I buy it Jeep to go use it up in the mountains.
I agree with rob on the bronco but not cause of the two or four door but cause it needs a v8. That's the reason the wrangler is gonna steal the bronco's thunder if it puts a v8 in a wrangler. Anywho I always liked the 89 thunderbird sc!
I love the look of the SSR! It kinda reminds me of a chopped 48 Chevy with everything frenched and shaved. I look for these to go up in value soon along with 70-77 Monte Carlos.
@@clintdavis9511 it's a blast to drive. Ive got a vette and you get va few comments...but it doesn't matter where I go, someone says how cool the SSR is. I wasn't sure I'd enjoy it when I bought it. Now its my favorite daily I've ever had. I still enjoy my vette and want a C8, but I won't part with my R.
I am Foxbody mustang guy and I have owned a few thunderbirds, 85,88,89. Those early 2000 tbirds were over priced under powered chic cars. Destin for failure.
4 door jeeps.....disgusting. One thing I will say.... Living in SoCal I see soooo many old cars its nuts. You don't see that many Chevy trucks older than the 80's, YET I see Fords (still working) out on the road literally everyday. That has to tell ya something folks.
Ford has always embraced handling and comfort but seem to have a love/hate relationship with hp. I can't even imagine the conversation at Ford after the baby birds - "well, I know it's a Corvette fighter, but let's make it a 4 seater....." really? America has one sports car because Ford can't abide them.
ssr was a major fail. It was a good idea done all wrong. Nobody needs a retractable hard top on a small pickup. They should have made something that looked like the SSR did, but just get rid of all the trash bs and make a small pickup, period. Nobody really makes a mini truck any more. Even the ranger, if they still make em, is too big to be a mini truck. Yotoas are big now too. Yes, mini trucks are a niche market, but I love em. Small, light, cheap to run.
Right now I’ve got a paint supplier competitor. That has decided to go scorched earth on the market. Auto motive paint is about to get real cheap in Tulsa and OKC just sayin. He’s cut the margins down to nothing. You can’t even deliver it for the price he’s giving. My boss is going absolutely nuts. We have to cut our prices. We need to press the flesh with shops. We are having lunch with the owner. And my boss is saying all the things we could do to try and keep these business. And my calm in the storm voice said no we don’t. If we can’t make money at that price neither can they. I would tell all our customers to buy as much paint as they can lay hands on with this guy. Cause he isn’t making any money at it. He can’t service you like we can at those prices. I can guarantee you. You’ll see the cracks in his good deal within a month. The owner agreed. And about two weeks after the first one stepped out. I’m getting calls. Hey can you get this for me sure bud I can. They don’t have it? No it’s not part of the pricing deal and they want a fortune for it. Be glad to help you out. Be there in a minute with it.
You dont have to fix a Ford son. They aint broke! I know, I know, you've bought and sold every fucking thing. Just tired of the bullshit. Todd the retired trucker. ( Really the last REAL T bird was the 56 }
Rabbit aka Ebay Outlaw aka Hot Rod aka Mr. Pitts what is your opinion on the Ford GT40 both the new one with the V-6 and the older one's from 2005 with the V-8 and the 1964-1969 with the V-8?
