I also have the spicy hateful brain. quitting twitter really helped. It's a bad place. It's not worth your time. It's meant to generate animosity and negativity so people will engage with it more and generate ad revenue. It's where people go to turn their hearts into sick little black holes.
I've really noticed how twitter is that for most people but not for me. Maybe slightly, but I feel a much greater sense of community with twitter and see all ranges of extreme opinions but that means that for me at least I can see both sides a bit more? Many times people are just really rediculous though. If people were commenting on me or my stuff though I can definitely see how it would affect me
That happened to me too. Not only i'm less bitter, but i'm watching more movies and reading more books. It's great to think about things and just leave it inside your head and not run to make a tweet about it.
huge agree, i haven’t felt a sense of community online as a whole for a very long time. i feel like it may have something to do with the transition from having specific online forums to having massive social media platforms like twitter and insta. once upon a time there was little to no overlap between online communities; people found their niche and rarely strayed away from it. now that a majority of the internet overlaps in some way, it leads to regular conflict between groups of people who otherwise have literally zero reason to interact with each other online.
@@RedPandaNinja6886 definitely, I think there's something to be said about the difference between talking TO people and having conversations that are organized and separated vs broadcasting thoughts to the widest possible audience to hopefully get some kind of reaction or dialogue
I was lying in bed the other day thinking "I am SO sick of feeling inadequate ALL THE TIME for NO logical reason". I've built a great life, I successfully work for myself, I'm healthy. And yet I always feel less than. It's ridiculous. I'm so over it. But that feeling is always there. I don't know what to do.
sometimes it helps me if i label the narattive of "being less" as a fairy tale i choose to believe or not believe. Makes it more clear that the conclusions i make of my life are not real.
Hey! Maybe you could stop thinking that certain things make you adequate or not? You are human, you don't need to reach success or something like that to be allowed to be happy. Happiness is like freedom, you deserve it just because you're a living being, just because you're alive!
literally have a daily session where you repeat to yourself that you love yourself and that youre good enough/worthy/there for yourself. Uf you're balsy, say it in the mirror. Repeat until your subconscious actually Agrees
I'm disabled and can't work, but most of the time I feel okay or a little good about how far I've come and who I am. It's all about perspective. Where you started and where you are, and what you really want to be doing vs. what you're doing now. I hope that over time you learn to value your life and all the energy and time you've put into becoming who you are today. It takes time and a lot of external support to feel valid and valuable, and learn to be content with yourself, and that's okay. I started by just reminding myself that I would learn to be kinder to myself in time. And I kept coming back to that thought whenever I could, it eventually worked. Everyone's journey is different though. Good luck out there!
Me too 🥺 These videos have been genuinely helpful for me, and I want Noah to know that they Are enjoyable & that he is very careworthy, which would be true even if he wasn't making the videos and being silly! I do enjoy his brand of entity🧍♂️though heheh Ü
I think that a lot of creative people are struggling with self-doubt and imposter syndrome at the moment. Gonna sound very cringe for a second but it deadass is The Society(tm) we're in ya know? The rise and grind mindset is an infection that poisons you and makes you create an inner world where you give yourself unrealistic expectations (which then makes it harder to recognize your own achievements). Social media is the same way. Your creativity and perspective are valuable! And you shouldn't have to feel gross and self-congratulatory when you acknowledge your own wins. I really struggle with negative self talk and I noticed you do it in your video here! Hey man, you wouldn't say that kind of thing to anyone else, why are you saying that to yourself? Its so hard to do and you don't gotta do it all the time- but just acknowledging and challenging that negative self talk is important. (this is an extremely long comment but I feel really strongly about this.) Remember to take breaks! Remember that it's ok to rest! Remember not to hold yourself to other peoples standards because they aren't you and you aren't them! I don't want to sound like one of those parasocial guys - HOWEVER - I think you're good, and I think you're doing a good job and I bet a bunch of other people agree with me. You got this Big Cat!
You're so articulate and well-spoken. I could never express my thoughts as they happen so clearly. Your videos are encouraging. I learn a new word / way to use it every time. I find myself doing something productive after watching each one. I'm weak as shit.. even the idea of working out makes me tired, but I think im going to start doing it too alongside your videos. So, thanks for encouraging me to be a lil' less shitty with each one.
yo. your channel has been helping me through a pretty rough patch of my life. seeing u taking care of yourself and do simple things has helped my brain slow down. I recently went through a rough breakup and lost a very close friend and have been spending a lot of time alone. ur brain does a lot to trick u into thinking everything is hopeless. i have always struggled with negative self-talk as well, so I particularly resonated with this vid. watching ur vids has helped me get through the day and genuinely has tethered me back to reality and motivated me to do some simple self care tasks like laundry, cleaning, and working out. keep doing u and know that ur videos are reaching people who are really resonating with them and appreciating them. thank you
I dont know what this new genre of video is of men talking about their feelings in their cars or sitting on the floor but I love it. And I also love you man.
It's nice to workout with an earnest, honest, funny boy. Upsetting that we can't convince you that you are awesome from the outside, but this reflection is the path.
You can do it Noah! You're a legend Action is the antidote to despair, try and get involved in real organizing and/or platforming those who do organize especially in the labor movement. Your proximity to those doing the work will probably help you develop a more optimistic outlook. You would be so inspired from talking to a Starbucks Union organizer, or Amazon Union organizer, people who have been overcoming the odds that are stacked against them.
A very minor plot point in this vid but pistol squats are super difficult and require a lot of joint mobility on top of balance and strength. I think if you’ve never done one before, most variations to get there start you with elevating the standing leg so that you can get that hip mobility gradually. I’d try looking those up and starting there! There are probably variations or supplemental exercises that can help build up stability and mobility in your knees as well
Hey, if you're ever wanting to upload a video without being in it (like you're not feeling up to it), I think we would still enjoy you talking about what your going through and thinking about, while watching b roll of things you've enjoyed there. I think most of us are here for the comfortable Noah vibes, you're good at keeping that consistent here. Remember since we are all human, we all get all of the human experience, its great that we get to experience it. It's a wide range of emotions and not every day is the best day, because then there would never be a best day. Hope you are doing ok all around, thanks for the vid, it was nice to watch
im honestly really glad i found your channel because your style of videos (ie: just having conversations while doing any given random activity) has inspired me to do the same with myself. i've always struggled with things like journaling or more structured forms of self expression bc of my adhd, so being able to just ramble to myself and have it saved on a video/audio recording has been rewarding/healing in ways i never expected. sincerely, thank you.
funnily enough i tried this the other day (irrespective of watching noahs videos) just bcus whatever was going on in my head was too overwhelming that i needed to say it out loud, bcus i journal regularly but it wasnt enough, and when i did do therapy the expressive part of it was so healing so it was a great form of self-therapy to just talk into my phone to get it out and then just delete it or keep it somewhere. i think alot of ppl dont do it bcus they find it embarrassing, but more ppl really should.
I love this!! To The self doubt part, I had that kinda taking over who I was for a period of my life. One time I went to a friends house, and he looked me square in the face & was like “dude who cares what others think, if you think you’re on the right track, keep going regardless of what others think” & I haven’t turned back since & it’s completely rid me of that issue somehow. In a world where it seems the vast majority could be “better” or judgemental, none of it even matters by day end. What matters is whats important to you.
i've been going through a rough patch these past few months, but i've been able to find comfort in these laid back videos and they've come to be some of my favorite new content on the platform, so thank you for that 💛
Hi, here's some more unsolicited training advice. Training the core is the most important part of your body to train, imo, for 1 simple reason: You're young now, so maybe you don't have back pain yet. But you're gonna get it. It's one of the (if not THE) most common debilitating injuries/weak spots as you age. And maintaining a strong core is the easiest and best way to keep a healthy back. Planks and side-planks suck for a few weeks, but they get easy fast, and then maintaining that strength is cake, and sufficient for a healthy back. (For what it's worth, the other really common injury as you age are your knees. Which is why doing exercises like deeeeep lunges and squats with full-knee mobility is so good, as I mentioned in your curling-the-propane-tank video: training the FULL FLEXION knee mobility keeps those tendons loose and strong... Never train through the pain, but consistently push into "slight discomfort," and your mobility will increase pretty quickly. And it unlocks the pistol squat as a bonus.)
I liked the format of this video alot actually... the breaking it up between voice over and not. Re: sometimes just do stuff and don't worry about optimal youtuber brain. Also, I kind of missed out on being athletic as a teen because I wanted to be AlTeRnAtIvE or something- it took me years and a couple of personal trainers to start to really like excersizing. I'm still not very consistent even though I enjoy it and know it's good for me. It's nice to see someone do it regularly and it both not seem like a chore and also not be a bit more casual aka "relatable" than basically every fitness youtuber I watch.
This was very much needed for me. I've been struggling with managing some depressive thoughts lately so when I saw the title, saw you doing push ups, I got up and started working out too (to the best of my abilities). You're doing a great job, even if you can't see your effect in all its entirety. :)
i really appreciate the frequency of your uploads. they keep showing up in my algo and of course i watch them bc every single one is a BANGER but also, all of this subconscious positivity has made it unironically easy to just clean my depression nest a little every day. i don't feel gross or overwhelmed, just being nice to myself :) thank you noah
Noah, I really love your main channel videos don't misunderstand, but I honestly have been liking these videos more. I find them very relatable. Thank you!
Push-up muscle connection gang rise up 🙏 The people pleasing subject of the first half of the vid is very real. I am so hyper cognizant of my online “self” to my own detriment. Can’t please everyone all the time.
CBT exercise: 10 minite freewrote all your thoughts and then take time to meaningfully counter every message you gave yourself in that time Front foot elevated lunges helped me get pistol squats
with the pistol squats, starting little is the key! get up on one leg in the form from a chair but you can sit down regularly. Also the opposite way where you pistol squat down on the chair then get up regularly
I just wanna say thank you for the videos. I've been playing them in the background while I do chores, and it lets me clean around family without getting so upset by them (theyre loud). I've done a lot more than usual the last 2 weeks, in part because I have this background noise. It means a lot since I'm usually easily exhausted, so thank you.
Don't let doubt and overthinking erode the joy you derive from creating - what you're making is weird and wonderful and heartfelt. You're doing great, kiddo
I love this content watching these videos is such a chill part of my day no matter what different things you do with the videos! Keep doing what feels good for you man :)
This is the first video I've seen on this channel of yours but I've been subscribed to the main for a while. I liked this video cuz it felt like chatting with a friend early in the morning, sleep deprived and thinking about everything at once. Reminds me of a time better than now, so thank you.
yawning along with you -- its wild that they're contagious even on video. i guess its something that gets edited out of everything else so i never notice it.
I watch/listen to these in the morning when I'm getting ready for work and just wanted to say thanks. It's good content. It helps motivate me both to be productive and to work out but without being like overly positive which is how some of that type of content feels. And this is for ur brain for being mean to u- hey knock it off dude, not cool.
At least you’re actually doing the planks, man! We all start somewhere, I’m going to the gym as of recently and core is honestly the hardest for me to want to do… that and cardio but I’m working on it lol
You just zoning into your own intrusive daydreams around the 20 min mark genuinely made me laugh aloud. Think that was the first time I've laughed properly at a YT vid for ages. Keep up the good work of being yourself dude.
Pearl harbor, famous place of the Boston tea party and where the threw my glitched out statue after I started a small business but then they found my cancel tweets.
Noah planks are better for functional core strength than crunches, you’re doing great 👍 and don’t forget that if you’re activating your core while doing push-ups (which it looks like you are) then you are also getting a core workout the entire time you’re doing that exercise. The same is true for any exercise that requires your core. just focus on good activation during all workouts and isolation exercises become less necessary. They’re still helpful, but not as necessary as workouts targeting the arms/legs
For pistol squats and most leg work, activate your core and really engage your hip flexors. You'll know if you're doing it right, because you'll be able to go much lower and hold the position for a full rep
haha just this week i messed up my leg from pistol squats! my friends at the gym can do like a set of 5 like its nothing but i can't hack one without a resistance band. thank u for squat validation
Pistol squats are really tricky. To build up the strength do the pistol squat but use a chair or stool to help you(try to use it as an aid and less like a seat to settle your weight onto). Gradually you can lower the height of the chair and eventually you’ll be able to pistol squat :) happy squatting! hope you get that dumpy
Got promoted to a salaried office position so I needed nicer clothes. Got stressed buying clothes because I had to size up since I put on weight. I've gotten past a lot of the negative self-talk. I'm not mad cause I'm getting fat. I'm mad that I have less and less time for stuff and this is progress? I need the money from the job but I hate working after work. I mean, I'm procrastinating on rolling a character for a 5e campaign ffs. I'm just like, roll whatever and die the first encounter so I can go to sleep. Anyway, really relating to this content. Did some pushups and squats with it. Keep at it Noah.
Noah! You're great! You're so handsome too ! And this is how you do it: you mix mayo in with the tuna yes but then you add back in some sesame oil and maybe hard boiled egg and any veggies like bell pepper or onion.
Core workouts are important because your entire body will be stronger if your core is stronger. You'll have better balance. A stronger core will help you do those one-legged squats you were trying to do.
I really didn't understand how to "engage your core" until I started to go to PT. He had me kind of jam my fingers into my lower abdomen, like in front of the iliac crest of the hip, and engage the muscles there. It has changed my life to know where these muscles are and how it feels to truly utilize them to stabilize my hips and spine. I see so many people walking around with the kind of gait I used to have, and just want to show them all how to do this!
Hey Noah do you have any tips for pre-work dread? No matter how often or long I work I always feel this intense dread the night and morning before. It impacts sleep and just feeds back into me dreading it even more
i sometimes cry when i work out. but not in a sad way. its almost like a yawn or sneeze attack. just a sudden and overwhelming wave of non-specific emotion. pretty weird
