This was an album that continually surprised and ultimately really impressed me. He's a bit less well-known than some of your other picks, but he's pretty legendary right now among other avant-garde musicians. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and hope you keep getting such interesting recommendations! ALSO: I think Black Metal 2 is even better >.> Personally I'd still love to see how Yellow Swans - Going Places or Xiu Xiu - Girl With Basket Of Fruit hit you!
I have a really hard time trying to listen to new music because I get bored and lose focus of it so easily. I discovered your channel a few days ago and I think listening along to the albums will help me branch out more. Your channel has a great vibe and your reviews seem very genuine
the album picks have been so good recently man, i appreciate you reacting to shit that other people don't really do on youtube and not just what brings in views. some albums ill recommend are oneohtrix point never - R plus seven, boris - feedbacker and animal collective - spirit theyre gone, spirit they've vanished. Another swans reaction would be great too
Dean Blunt is that guy. He’s got a couple of tracks with Panda Bear on Zushi that are definitely worth checking out too 🔥 Looking forward to catching this review when I get home from work 🍻
Dean Blunt review gonna inspire Smags to drop a new EP in record time lmao. Really enjoyed this one! Some other albums for your consideration: Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam Animal Collective - Centipede Hz. Animal Collective - Time Skiffs Fiddlehead - Death is Nothing to Us 🍻
i have this record on vinyl, one of my favorite hypnagogic pop albums of all time. If you like this, yves tumor's Heaven to a Tortured Mind is a must or his more experimental record Safe in the Hands of Love. Tirzah also makes kinda minimilistic pop and trap similar to Dean Blunt since they're friends.
female vocals are by Joanne Robertson if you liked it I would recommend listening to Zushi and Wahalla, both are collaborations with Dean, her solo projects are great too you should listen to Black moon Days! great vid
DUDE!!! i fucking love rhis alvum so much. dean blunt is a one of a kind producer. genuinely havent found a single person who can rival his atmospheres, soundscapes, and melodies. black metal itself is one of a kind too (and has infinite replayability ngl) but he has so many gems throughout his discography.
@@ajv1437 it's funny. With this video I just saw black metal and didn't read the rest of the title so I thought he was going to be listening to mayhem or something
if you're hitting up dean blunt a massive recommendation from me would be Yves Tumor's Heaven to a Tortured mind - made me float the first time I heard it
I think my comment got deleted somehow. Anyway awesome album to pick. You always have interesting album picks. Even though I don't think they sound similar this is making me think you'd dig Lil Ugly Mane - Volcanic Bird Enemy and the Voiced Concern. It's also an album that kind of defies genre descriptors.
discovered Dean when i was 14 n in a terrible place now im 18 n in a much less terrible place😭i cant explain why i connect to his stuff so much but it jst feels like it gets the way things are right now more than any other music has for me. n it sounds rly good. fav artist ever, also if ur interested check out Babyfather n Hype Williams, two projects hes been involved in that i also luv endlessly🤞
i literally screamed like a little girl when i saw the video pop up in my feed, this album hits so hard dude, i love it so so much. thank you for the reaction, here another recommendations: Aphex Twin - Syro Cocteau Twins - Heaven Or Las Vegas Dr. Dog - Shame, Shame
awh man black metal is in my top 10 easily!! glad you liked it too. if you liked this one, i really wanna hear what you think of BBF by babyfather bc that album is insane.
yesssssa do bm2 pleaseeee, and check out his other projects too Dean Blunt is full of layers, def an artist that is easy to turn into a whole personality lmao, been there He's worked with everyone from Asap Rocky to James Ferraro to Arca and everyone has to fit in his world instead of the other way around, some of the most iconoclastic artists out there but like when it comes to Dean you're a piece in his puzzle no matter who you are, just a testament to how strong his world building is Also btw the slowed version of 100 imo superior, uploaded prior to the slowed trend taking over RU-vid
loved this review! you're so consistent and geniune dude, keep it up. this is labeled as hypnagogic pop which i always thought it's more of a mood or an ethic in composing, like just bringing a lo-fi vibe to create nostalgic almost phantasmagoric ambients, like ariel pink (through a more rock-oriented lens), john maus, or george clanton (through a more vaporwave/chillwave lens). but imo, the greatest output is the harshly bright ambient output by james ferraro, like Genie Head Gas... or iAsia, really unique and interesting projects.
besides the call-out joke comment I cannot stress enough how much you should checkout frailty by Jane remover, it's stemmed from the hyperpop community and that's not everyone's thing but you can tell that Jane had something else going on with her sound, it's so much richer and heavier and you can feel the emotion flow out of it, its one of those pieces of music thst you can tell was overflowing with passion towards the art being made, itdefined a point in my life 2 years ago and i would love to see you react
crazy to see this one, glad to see ur fine with relatively niche shit bro, fun bit hes good friends with asap rocky and has produced for him multiple times
almost forgot recommendations: 1. Christoph de Babalon- If You're Into It, I'm Out Of It 2. Goldie - Timeless 3. Unwound - Fake Train 4. Yellow Swans - Going Places
Your ranking video was great and it really popped off! It's actually a really smart idea so definitely keep diong them in between batches. Suggestions (Obviously!!!) Toxicity by System of a down or any SOAD record really. Silent Alarm or A Weekend In The City by Bloc Party, if you do them i'll actually cry of happiness lol The Money Store by Death Grips if you haven't heard it. Keep it up Smags, love the content
I strongly recommend Black is Beautiful by Dean Blunt and Inga Copeland. Their stuff under the name Hype Williams is dope but some of it can be hard to listen to. Too bad their RU-vid channel is gone-their Hype Williams videos were amazing and strange, some of the best stuff on RU-vid for sure.
Recommendations for Reactions: Actress Ghettoville / Karma & Desire Space Afrika Honest Labour HTRK Venus In Leo Laurel Halo Chance of Rain Alva Noto Xerrox Vol. 4 DJ Python Mas Amable Shinichi Atobe Heat / Butterfly Effect Vladislav Delay Multila Fennesz Venice I consider these underrated gems
if you likes this album, you should dive straight into the dean blunt rabbit hole and check out his babyfather stuff. the album BBF hosted by dj escrow. a weird conceptual album about the British rap scene, super cool sounds in it
Hi! Could you react to OMNI by Before Time? They're an indie Alt Rock group from Slovenia and they're not getting the recognition I think they deserve. OMNI is their first album.
************************* It would be the best thing ever if you reacted to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadnesss by The Smashing Pumpkins. If you have never heard it b4 you wont regret it. *************************
