A visit to the Dean Forest Railway for their Great Western Gala Weekend held on Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July. The event would feature three locomotives in steam, all of Great Western origin, operating passenger services, goods trains, auto-trains and double heading.
Locomotives running during the event:
- GWR 4575 Class 2-6-2T no.5521
- GWR 8750 Class 0-6-0PT no.9681
- GWR 1400 Class 0-4-2T no.1450 (Repainted in BR Unlined Black and running as 1401 of Titfield Thunderbold fame)

- 1450 departs Lyndey Jcn with the 11:20 auto train for Norchard Low Level.
- 9681 passes through Lydney Town with the 11:25 goods for Lydney West Loop.
- 1450 returns passing through Lydney Town Station with the 11:55 auto train for Lydney Jnc.
- 1450 charges out of Norchard High Level with the 12:20 auto train for Parkend.
- 5521 & 9681 storm out of Norchard High Level with the 12:38 for Parkend.
- 1450 sweeps through returning with the 13:10 auto train for Norchard Low Level.
- 9681 & 5521 return with the 13:25 for Lydney Jnc.
- 1450 rests at Norchard Low Level then departs with the 13:57 auto train for Lydney Jcn.
- 5521 arrives at Norchard High Level then storms out with the 14:10 for Parkend.
- 9681 passes through Norchard High Level with the 14:22 goods for Parkend.
- 5521 arrives at and departs from the recently restored Whitecroft Station on the 14:52 for Lydney Jcn.
- 1450 departs Whitecroft on the 15:24 auto train for Parkend.
- 5521 speeds by running into Parkend with the 15:40 from Lydney Jnc (At this point all engines and their trains were at Parkend).
- 1450 seen just outside Parkend with the 16:11 auto train for Lydney Jnc.
- 9681 departs Parkend with the 16:26 goods for Norchard Low Level.
- 5521 departs Parkend with the last service of the day, the 16:41 for Norchard High Level.
