Be careful what you ask for, they'd probably reboot it, kill it with political correctness and have them racing Toyota Prius's, Priuses, Prii, oh hell what ever the plural of Prius is
When Sammy repeats Burt’s line “ the chocolate monk” you can see Dean struggling to keep it together. These guys must’ve genuinely had a great time filming together!
And it was all said with nothing more in mind then to make fun of a guy. Sammy did not take it as racist, as it wasn't meant that way. All the insults thrown in this movie would be unable to be made nowadays, and the world isnt better for it.
Laughter at such an absurd pace as this film set! I miss the innocence of living in a society where everybody had fun at everybody's expense. Sadly, as is the era, the actors are all gone now. May they all rest in peace. Burt Reynolds Sammy Davis, Jr. Dom Deluise Dean Martin Farrah Fawcett Roger Moore Jack Elam Thank you, one and all.
he who knows, does. he who does not know, teaches!! Critics are the best teachers!!! I watched this movie countless times.. everytime I laugh to tears... All the actors were wonderful.. and they'll always be!!
And it's been decades since I have watched a movie. I don't watch the news, I don't watch tv, I don't watch movies..... I have to make my own fun nowadyas and the sad part is.... all my fun friends are leaving this world......
This was my Dad's favorite movie! We went to the movies to see it in '81 and we watched it every time it came on TV. His favorite character was Captain Chaos 😁 "Dahn Dahn Dahn!!" LMAO!! R.I.P Dad.
Dean Martin use to have Dom DeLuise on his variety show quite a bit through the mid 60's and mid 70's. Dom was definitely being respectful of Dean. Love them both.
@@JayH7745 I didn,t know that .Dean Martin was a nice man as well apparently .My late Mother read Terry Thomas ,s biography and he said he liked Dean .A real family man with a tastefull house and not lost in show biz at all .The earlist thing ive seen Dom De Luise in was i think its The Glass Bottomed Boat with Doris Day as a tv repair man .And he was slimmer too .lol
George Semel I may be wrong, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that Dean and Jimmy ‘the Greek’ had known each other as youngsters in Steubenville.
When I was little and watched this movie, Martin and Davis meant nothing to me. Now 30+ years later after having watched countless hours of Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts and various features and documentaries on Davis, I appreciate these two in a way now, that I never could have way back then. Love those guys. Comedy legends, and deservedly so.
I never stayed in the theatre to watch the credits until this movie. Showing bloopers with the credits, genius! Now I wait a while, before leaving to see if they show them. These days, they not only don’t show bloopers, but the movies aren’t as funny.
The bloopers are just as hilarious and hearing dom de Louise laughing, is infectious..may God rest their souls...dom, Burt, Sammy, Dean, Roger, Farrah...
@@wurly164 I have a sense of humor. I also recognize when an ability to express humor is and is NOT being expressed or demonstrated. Sarcasm is not always humorous. But sadly for those of limited abilities that's as close to humor as they can get.
@@russell5078084 you don't get out often do you, oh well no helping the weak minded, I pity you, I really do. At least I can find humor in life, you seem to only find anger and darkness in your own dark way.
Classic line from Burt "You and the chocolate monk" Jesus, imagine the pc outrage today. Not forgetting this was the 1st movie to add the bloopers at the end. Brilliant. Thanks to all the cast and crew for such a great movie.
Eddie Murphy said Sammy told him he worshipped the Devil and that he was as powerful as God. Eddie said wtf are you talking about. Sammy dropped it. It was on seinfelds drive around talk show.🤔
Enjoy your fucken life cause you are till here to see innovation, touching technology, give life, feel love and see the world. Stop moaning cause you guys are disrespecting those with terminal deases and the ones who die everyday.
Things are so PC today, that line would NEVER make it into a movie. I'm black and that s**t was HILARIOUS! Not when Burt said it but when Sammy repeated it... "The Chocolate Monk?" 😂😂😂 You knew Burt was joking and not being racist. If you're old enough to remember Don Rickles, you know he made jokes about EVERY race! But you also knew he loved every single person he ripped apart and he wasn't racist. You don't see that today 😢 Life was so simple back then.
This movie left a wonderful reunion of legendary actors for posterity. Hard to believe this happen into the 1980s. I wished I had the opportunity to meet these legends.
That song in the end always makes me feel like I’m a kid again. The love that is shown in this film is irreplaceable and is non existent today and I’m blessed to be in the moment of it in real time when it was new. Brock Yates and Hal Needham knew what they were doing and hats off to their spirit cause I wouldn’t be the man I am now if I hadn’t been apart of their movies. #carguycomicalgenius
An all star cast most of whom are gone now. What great entertainers they were. R.I.P. guys. Every time I watch it. it still is a fantastic film and fun.Capt. Kaos is the best.
When you think about it, most of the cast from this movie are long gone and are probably smiling down from heaven seeing all of us laugh like hell at these antics. The out takes are funny enough to make you fall out of your chair laughing and that's only the ones we know about. Can you imagine the entire gag reel?
As being old my self now, I am so HAPPY I lived in this “Era” what a wonderful time it was, We were not “Perfect” but nothing like today. Going to the movies back then meant “ Entertainment”. Will Never See the likes of the Actors and Actresses in today’s World. Was Engaged to my wife when we to the movies to see this. Hal Needham was great during the “Bleeds” Scene.
A Movie Directed by Burts old stunt double/ friend… Memphis TN Great : Hal Needham … thank you for getting this crew together & making this happen for us … R.I.P.
This show makes me laugh till i cry. So sad all of these wonderful actors are gone. Ive recently gotten hooked on the dean martin celebrity roasts again. I hadnt seen them since i was a kid.
This is one hell of a fun ride. Love this film. I bumped into Alfie Wise shortly before Burt died and encouraged him to write a book about being on the set of a few of these great Needham films. It had to be a run time being a part of it. He nixed the idea out of loyalty to his friend Burt. Now in 2020 most of the stars in this film have passed and it's sad they are gone. RIP.
Its my pleasure admitting that this is an absolute guilty pleasure. I wish they made more of these and Sammy + Dean...should have been more comedies with them two.
Sammy Davies, Dean Martin, Burt…I love this film. I wish they still made stuff like this, unfortunately these great people no longer are with us and we have nothing in comparison.
It's unbelievable that almost the entire cast is dead. I saw this at a drive in theater in 1981 when I was thirteen. It got trashed by the reviews but it's improved with age like a fine wine.
This was a GREAT and entertaining movie 🎥🍿. I had the privalege of seeing it when I was around 10 Year's old. SAMMY DAVIS Jr has a million dollar SMILE!!
Man good times films like these are just little pockets of joy and should be treasured forever, lets hope they never get touched, i mean can you imagine a joke like chocolate Monk (i still laughed hard cus he can say that) today, fucking hell i think the film and cast would be lynched. lol ah the end of 70's and mid 80's had such good films. :-)
One of my fondest memories is going to the drive in to see this with my family. I didn't realize it then how many legendary actors were part of this movie. Their passings remind me of how old I am and how I need to be grateful for everyday I have with my loved ones.
I have seen this movie so many times, just from the blooper scenes, it must have been very enjoyable for the cast & crew in making this wonderful movie. RIP to the superstars no longer with us 💔
My family lived in Somerset, Massachusetts. When we moved in 1985, we rented the house to a guy who had a car mechanical business and a car-themed under-21 club. He sometimes drove clients' cars and parked them in our garage. For a good chunk of the time he lived there he drove the black Lambo from this movie!!! He parked it our garage, and my neighborhood friends would look through the garage windows to look at it!!
One of my favourite movies growing up! So quoteable! Sadly most of the stars in this are now gone Burt, Sammie, Dean, Farrah, Roger Moore! Heartbreaking, god I feel sad and old now.
"When was the last time you saw two priests in a Ferrari? What're they doing, takin' the Bingo money home?" First time my mom & dad heard that line, they both laughed themselves to tears.
Pure joy, laughter, and plain old silly fun from an unbelievable cast of legends. Hal Needham and Burt should have made an additional movie just showing all the blooper scenes. Being on set must have been side splitting and impossible to keep a straight face with all the high jinx and someone always wanting to pull a fast one attempting to screw up another’s lines. Reminiscing pure gold.
All those huge names and huge shining stars gone but not forgotten. I always loved the final scene where they're all drinking champagne you can just see how much fun they are having and they're just a bunch of friends drinking champagne having laughs and there just happens to be a few cameras around. I've seen this movie and its sequel dozens upon dozens of times in my life. I'll be 40 years old in January and I can remember renting this movie on VHS from the video store every Friday for at least 2 years during my teenage years when my mom would take us all to the video store after we did a good week in school. I love watching this movie still to this day. And it's a shame that I didn't get to meet Mr Burt Reynolds because that was on my bucket list of things to do but I couldn't manage to find a way to meet him. He was such a great man and I admired him greatly for his battle with prescription medications and other forms of drugs. I had a similar battle with prescription medication for about eight years and his story kind of help me pull myself out of it. Rest in peace Bandit that's Smokies not on your tail anymore
MAN i WISH i could go back and stay in the 1980's!.. i was a sophomore in high school when this came out in 1981. It was my favorite movie an i liked the song at the end. There will never be another decade like the 1980's again, movie, music an people..it was a fantastic time!.
