Your so right,Iam 70 years old and grew up on dean martin he could do everything, sing, act, comidy.he was true one for the ages ,i love you pisan r.i.p. Dino
I'm 24 years old and I am a huge fan of the King Of Cool Dean Martin no artist today can beat his talent today's artists use technology to sing for them in the 70s and 60s 50s that technology didn't exist eather you could sing or you couldn't I wish Dean could live forever if he would of stopped that cigarette habit he would still be here but his son got killed in Vietnam and it hurt him I suppose I could understand that
@@akrenwinkleGood Times is actually a big hit country song that came out in the early 70s they don't make country songs like this anymore and I wish they still did this style of country music just has something special that today's country music don't
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face,,
@@philipgwynne2088 When he sang on the "couch or sofa" on his TV show, the arrangements were less orchestrated & w/o a chorus. It let his great voice shine through.
Dean Martin I so miss your style, swagger, sense of humor and voice. We are in a changing world of emasculated men. You were the type mentor I grew up with and damn glad I did.
My Mom and Dad didn't listen to alot of the same music, but this was what I would call "their song". They were married for just over 21 years before my Dad passed away. My Mom was a widow at 42 yrs old and I was a 19 yr old sophomore in college. Every time I hear this song, I think of my parents. Mom has now gone on too, after being without her only love for nearly 36 years. Maybe soon I'll be able to join them and we'll be a family again with my older brother too, also gone, just 2 years after my Mom went to be with our Dad. Love this song and the beautiful memories that it brings.❤
Thank you for your kind reply. This year has been particularly difficult, and my Dad passed away on Sun Feb 11th and was buried on Wed Feb 14th, 51 yrs ago, and it just so happened that those dates were on the same days of the week this year and I've been in the hospital for a week now, with no visitors. I'm glad my parents are together in a better place and I'm ready to join them.
Im sorry for your loss. Difficult to carry on when loves of your life have gone but we do. Memories and knowing you will see them someday keeps us going . I lost my parents 18 years ago, three weeks apart, both died on Wednesday at the same time of day. My dad loved my mom and would say Im taking you with me when I die and he did.
Julia Milford and Diane Uecker, I read in her biography, that Jeanne slept in Dean's bed the Christmas night he died. She held his hand until they took him away. He told her that she was the 'only girl.he ever loved'.
One of the best Kris Kristofferson songs, probably the best cover ever! Kristofferson was one of the best songwriters of all time. And of course, no one interprets a sad song like Dino...he was one of Kristofferson's idols.
The likes of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra I don't know if we'll ever see that again. It amazes me how talented they were compared to what we see now. I mean really, what performers can act both drama and comedy as well as sing & dance. I miss those variety shows.
Jesus. Ive never seen him like that. And he kept going. As a widower, who still after years struggles with the loss of my wife lost at a young age, I cant possibly imagine the strength it takes to sing, while your heart is dust.
I never missed an episode of his Thursday night variety show, and I was just a kid.My dad always watched it, too.He sang so smooth...and had wonderful sense of humor. As a teen, I never missed his Roast specials.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face,,
I was a child when Dean was is "second career" (post Jerry Lewis). I thought he was an OK singers then. Now, when I listen, I appreciate the talent this gentleman had. His voice is soooooo smooth and his music just flows (beautiful). To me, there are only a few singers today that sing to the level of Mr. Martin.
My favorite version of this song out of any singer and any performance. What an amazing talent to be able to sing better than studio versions with several takes, in just one shot on tv with minimal audio equipment
This performance that Dino gave here is so heart touching (moreover knowing that he was almost bursting into tears while singing it. Somehow, you can relate to him). Thank you for uploading this in good quality. You got a great collection of Mr. Martin.
Maybe someone else here can give you a better answer, but my guess is that, somehow, he sang this song with Jeanne in mind (not sure if this episode was aired before or after he divorced her :/ ).
Jeanne and him was going Thur a divorce about this time so that would explain the tears. It also had to be hard cause he was a star it was public knowledge. I have to hand it to him cause he was not afraid to show his feeling. A happier copy of him singing this can be found on RU-vid from 1983 he was on a tour in London. It was his birthday, he got a award and best of all he announce that Jeanne and him was back together. Then 2 or 3 songs later he sung this song with a big smile. I think this is my favorite song of his cause the w different versions I have seen.
I'm a huge Elvis fan, who sings this song as well. But this version is really great. He sings it with such a great feeling. Very emotional. I like the 1983 version as well.
By 1969, Dean was going through marital problems, which sings this song with a deep regret and simply missing his Jeanne. They finalized their divorce in 1973.
Beautiful rendition. Great pipes Dino had. My brothers took me to see Dean in Vegas. We had great seats. We had a great time. Dino so effortless and yet so perfect.
Love to hear Dean sing For The Goodtimes. Love It. Dean had so much talent so much. Miss him to this day. Dean and Perry Como were my favorite male singers. Frank may have been around longer but and Perry and Dean were my favorite singers male singers that is.
I have always loved Dean & and his voice. I had a crush on him for years. I met him in Vegas in 1983 and what a gentleman, very soft spoken. We talked for a bit and he asked where I was from. He told me I had to be Canadian as I was not being pushy when I wanted to say Hi to him.
While sitting next to Dino’s daughter in Vegas, Elvis said to her, they can call me the King of Rock but your dad is the King of Cool. Elvis admired several performers mire than most. Dino and Roy.
This Man could make any song his own,l Loved Dean,They say we all have a twin ,My Dad and Dean were Twins.l lost My Dad in 67 and trust Me it was hard to watch Dean even there singing voices were exactly the Same.Funny thing My Dad did not like Dean,l would tell Him how could You not Like Dean You too are Twins🤗♥️♥️
Well, I would like to thank Dino for taking the time to make this show. He was still doing shows in Las Vegas during this time and rehearsals were without him. There were stand ins for him and then he would come in for the one day of filming and shoot. His part is all without rehearsals.
He used to listen to the vhs recording of rehearsals in his golf buggy, car and stereo system at home so he knew what was going on but nobody knew that he was prepared
Don't look so sad, I know it's over But life goes on and this old world will keep on turning Let's be glad we had some time to spend together There's no need to watch the bridges that we're burning Lay your head upon my pillow Hold your warm and tender body close to mine Hear the whisper of the raindrops blowing soft across the window And make believe you love me one more time For the good times I'll get along, you'll find another And I'll be here if you should find you ever need me Don't say a word about tomorrow or forever There'll be time enough for sadness when you leave me Lay your head upon my pillow Hold your warm and tender body close to mine Hear the whisper of the raindrops blowing soft across the window And make believe you love me one more time For the good times
The emotions that emerged in Dino's face, especially near the end of the song. His heart, mind and soul were totally into that performance. As he progressed, he seemed to be drawn deeper into the remorse he felt for having cast away the greatest and possibly the only true love in his life. He was struggling to keep himself composed so he could finish. He is truly a legend.
My Mother used to say Dean Martin has a magical voice and used to laugh. Then one Day I started to listen to his Songs, what an amazing, so glad my Mother tippped me off. Can't stand listening to Deano, God Bless your Voice is incredible.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face,,
Thanks Fred Koltz. Just watched it again and had butterflies again. No messing around as we are used to, just very emotional, beautiful words and accompanying orchestra
Stunning vocals, and presence this talented man had. Such a smooth delivery. Total professional. & That Ray price song, is a bitter truth in this ole complex life. God's Eternal grace be upon us.
This cat had it ALL! Voice, looks and most of all swagger. He was just about the coolest cat ever. I remember even as a kid 10 or 12 years old I loved his singing and laid back cool persona. Never be another like him.
The finest vocal moments of his entire career were these special songs he covered when sitting on the couch on his TV show. It was the only time he took his own singing seriously enough to sit for a few minutes and croon an amazing version of any song he was singing that week. These moments are priceless for any Dean Martin fan. God bless him, he was a superior talent.
I saw both Frank and Sammy in Vegas but did not get a chance to see Dean. He was the king of Kool with a capital K. Sammy always wanted to be Frank, Frank always wanted to be Dean, and Dean always wanted to be playing golf. His said and did funny things and Frank could not tell a joke to save his life. Remember the good times. R.I.P. fellow Gemini. ( Died 12/25/95)
oh man ..... if i could spend just one day in this man’s shoes.... i’d have lived a thousand lives .... thank you dean, from childhood movie watching to last twenty years listening to your vocal talent... i thank you, sir ....
Once in a life time we meet somebody that changes us forever to the core of our heart. My forever love passed 2 years ago. This song reminds me of the love we shared. I was sent to save him and he was sent to save me. Sometimes it's hard to be without him but I still feel hes with me at times. It usually brings me peace. Today listening to this opened up such sadness. May we hang on to our loved ones for tomorrow is promised to no one. X
