You just can't get sick of Dean Martin. Everytime I see him in movie, hear one of song's &/or hear his name mentioned, it brings a "SMILE" to my face. No one in the entertainment world (Past/Present) does that to me, except Dean.
Peter Racippo ... Same here Peter. The name Dean Martin bring big smile and happy thoughts to all who learn what a loving kind Entertainer he truly was.
Wow! Dino & Tanya Tucker together. A wonderful rendition of Dino's hit song, The old boy still had it here, smooth & controlled with his inimitable tremulo and fine timbre matched to Tanya's unique tone, vibrato, and impeccable pitch. Sweet!
Dean Martin...was 63 and Tanya Tucker was ever bit of 22 when they did this on the big show in 1980 She is now 60 and Dean passed away on Christmas 1995 but they were lovely doing this song....
In the theater that night when we had heard Dean had passed away, you could just hear the groans and ache from fans after the news was announced......it was as if everyone had lost a close family member that Christmas....so vivid still in my mind 27 years later!!!! He was a tough one to loose!!!!
I have seen Tony Bennett live and listened to a number of Crooners over the years. and they are great. Dean is in a category of his own. Just a joy to watch and his singing is second to none. Everytime I hear his name and/or see him on TV he brings smile to my face which no other entertainer has ever done.
I used to go to the MGM to see dean and the boys. That’s when one would dress in black tie to go to these shows. Lots of class back then. It’s sad to see these responses were years ago. I sure miss this guy. O well, time goes by. God Bless em. Peace ✌️

Two of my very faves......The King Of Cool, and Country Musics Wild Child.....love, love, love, this...and love them both together...this is just adorable
Holy Batman, this vid is from 1980, I was 31 then, now I am 65, where in the hell the time go, someone pinch me, am I dreaming ? Dean was the best, and they don't make them like Tanya Tucker anymore.
Being in my late 80's now I so appreciate Dean's delightful smooth soothing singing, it never becomes loud or ugly. Thankyou for a chance to listen to soothing music & see some fun times too.
Unique silky voice. (He was The Rat Pack) Charismatic, family guy, funny, handsome, among many eulogies to long list here, and an all round jolly good egg :)
" Class ....style in singing......very well dressed.....charming.......great voice.........little devilish......That was...is....and always will be our Dean Martin Heaven is missing and angel and is called Tanya Tucker............
Dino was still on top of his game here, in fact he would stay that way up until Dean Paul's tragic death in March of '87, then Dean's outlook and desire along with sadly his health deteriorating greatly effected his later performances.
I don't want to be the one to say I'm gonna miss you but I will I don't want to say I'm gonna cry my eyes out baby but I will I'm not ashamed for you to know how much I really love you so Cuz it was such a thrill And just remember when you're gone there'll be that someone sad who loves you still You will look at him and see me smiling back at you I know you will (You will) And you will find yourself repeating things we used to do I know you will (You will) Don't wonder if you want to come back just come running home to me And let me feel that thrill Cuz I'm the one who told you I would love you dear forever and I will Oh, I will... Yes, I will... Don't wonder if you want to come back just come running home to me And let me feel that thrill Cuz I'm the one who told you I would love you dear forever and I will Cuz I'm the one who told you I would love you dear forever and I will (I will)
jjgigem you are correct . tanya is great ! but the thought of dean martin needing a guest host. ha! The two of them singing together . what great harminizing. looked as though dean was suprised by the standing ovation they recieved at the end. there voices were great together. I love them both. but dean would never need a guest host., He was diffinitly king of cool.
It is said that "Mr. Ring-a-Ding"..Sinatra Himself..admired two people..One was Dean Martin. He considered him his model ..instead of the other way around. The second was Tony Bennett. He considered Bennett the great voice of their generation. They all had something special that disappeared for good...class, talent, sophistication and a sense of humor. Will I always miss them? I WILL.
I assure you, Frank regarded himself as the world's greatest singer. Unless people are lying, Frank thought of himself that way even when Bing Crosby was on top. And you know... Frank was right. Bing Crosby also thought Frank was the greatest. Frank said that Vic Damone had "the best set of pipes" and that Tony was "the best singer in the business" but not the great voice of their generation. That spot, certainly, is something Frank reserved for himself, and he was right. Regarding Dean, it's true that Frank admired Dean's cool, whereas Frank was a nervous hothead. But role model, no. Dean wasn't ambitious enough.
***** It's an old conundrum that you bring up. Does Franks association with the mob necessarily mean he wasn't a great singer? Can Frank's ties with the Mafia coexist with his being the world's greatest singer, or both things cannot exist at the same time. Like the kids say, duh. Yes, he had ties to the mob, and yes, he was the world's greatest pop singer, both at the same time.
***** I have to disagree about the mob stepping in to help Frank during his early 50s slump. The mob never stepped out... it was behind Frank from the beginning and never left him. Tastes change. The horse's head in the bed story has generally been debunked, and it is acknowledged that Ava Gardner's personal intervention got Frank his big comeback break in From Here to Eternity. If you admire Crosby, you have excellent taste, but even Crosby- unless some writers are lying- named Frank as the world's greatest singer. Frank was a loathsome person, just the worst. But if you think about some of the world's great talents, they're not so nice... an understatement.
***** I didn't exactly mean being nice has never been a requisite to great talent. What I meant goes further, that really talented people are usually downright nasty. Jolson, Sinatra, Crosby, Garland, Streisand. That said, yes, to each his own... there's really no right or wrong when it comes to taste.
