What people don't seem to understand about Dean is that he's come to realize just how fucked up his life is. He states he liked it better when it was in the earlier seasons because back then he saw life as a big adventure for his amusement, just like Hank. But unlike Hank, Dean eventually came to see how the world insane the world is and how truly messed up he himself is. The blinders are off and he's gone from this almost innocent childhood to this confusing and painful transition into adulthood.
But unlike Dean, Hank is aware of how fucked up the world is, but he just doesn't care. Hank doesn't want to improve society, he doesn't want to forward medicine or technology. Hank wants to have fun in life, and to me, that's the best ideology to have.
The point I think that gets missed is that since Hank doesn't resemble Rusty as much, he doesn't have this high degree of expectations put on him like Dean. Dean is a spitting image of Rusty and its fitting that Rusty unintentionally projects on to him the same Jonas did to him. Rusty doesn't mean to, but its all he knows. Rusty doesn't see Hank as much more than an idiot, but in Dean, he seems a better him. This can cause resentment in person, whether its praise of the other child, or pitting all the responsiblity on a child, you create a jealousy between them and thats what this is
I think Dean did it because he was jealous that Hank just seems to fit in better in the regular world. For all his faults, Hank is able to balance both worlds he lives in and enjoy it. He could be an OSI agent or he could be a janitor and he would still be ok. I think that's why rusty resents him to a degree. Hank doesn't want to live up to anything. Hank is just Hank.
Crescentknight8189 remember Hank also probably has undiagnosed ADD. I don't think Dean is jealous of Hank per se, he's just very very worried and guilty (for sleeping with Sirena) at this moment. Although he definitely begrudges Hank for some reason.
Red with White eyes it sure looks like Jealousy. The casual way he told Hank that it was what it looked like. It wasn't shock or fear of getting caught. It was more like he just did it to just get a rise out of Hank or feel closer to him.
Yeah. AT&T/Warner probably made the call (they’re selling and cutting every corner they can) but it sucks so much. Especially when you see the shit they still blow money on (like Venture brothers is a more expensive show compared to other AS shows...but they can give Snyder $40 -80 extra and canned Venture brothers? Like come the f*ck on). And I’d say I’d be happy with a comic adaptation but nah, the voice acting, the music, the animation, they’re all needed for a real season 8
I'm not sure it would be. I don't mean to sadden you, but the reason I can relate to Dean is because I don't have my brother anymore, and when I visit the cemetery I talk to him in a similar way, and wish things could "go back to the way they were before". As I watch this, my mind is praying for Hank to come back, just as much as I wish my own brother could. -Realistically speaking I think the writers will bring Hank back(or maybe they already have -I haven't seen this season yet.), but I'm just talking about how this scene made me feel. It's not perfect as there is some dialogue I wish were different, but overall a fantastic scene that I find very relatable.
This is such a good scene, as an introverted shy person, it is very true for myself that at times i get jealous of people so unafraid to be themselves in public.
Just have to learn to be comfortable in your own skin. Do shit for YOU. Shit that makes YOI happy. Don’t do things for others or try to please them, cause nothing will ever be good enough.
I feel the same way I envy my brother for that reason He is shy just like me but he had 2 girlfriends and a crap of friends and people to talk with Life feels unfair
Hank is the kind of person I aspire to be. He's completely secure in himself, he never doubts his choices or regrets the things he didn't do, and he always sees the best in people and hopes that everything will work out. If only I could be the same way.
The f-u Hank is honestly the most touching part. It just sounds so natural - the way you say it to someone you love, with absolutely no malice behind it.
I'll be honest, it never even phased me that Rusty was a clone. I mean really, every invention he's ever come up with has been flawed in one way or another, yet he developed a near perfect cloning technique decades ago? Between Jonas' genius and his parenting skills being even worse than Rusty's, this should have shocked no one.
Think the Kool-Aid just never got that flavor. Theories generally never latched onto the point since, while Rusty isn't the best parent and Dean and Hank are multiple versions down the line, and Jonas was _worse_ , the idea that JJ somehow made it through multiple Rusty's and popped out of the one that lived long enough was... _iffy_ .
It just doesn't make sense. If Rusty is a clone, JJ never should have been "born". Rusty consumed JJ in the womb, original Rusty had original JJ inside him. A clone of Rusty would not have JJ inside, because JJ is his own genetic being. It would only work if each Rusty clone was "fed" a JJ clone while incubating.
@@DrTimes99 If you think about it, absorbing a twin in the womb like Rusty did isn't possible. Being a botched clone actually would explain that. It's not like they legitimately would remember stuff inside the womb, so it's likely that's just a blank JJ's subconscious inflicted on Rusty's. It also would explain how JJ would have much of Rusty's skills and knowledge, but knows nothing of the truth of Jonas Venture Sr. Keep in mind that cloning tech in Jonas Sr's day likely wasn't as good as during Rusty's and even his more up to date version still produced the Sloth from the Goonies version of Dean.
@@alecLogan it's entirely believable that JJ could have somehow accidentally ended up in the same vat as Rusty during the gestation period. A cloning procedure, even IF sped up, would still likely mimic the usual growth cycle of a fetus. Given how careless Jonas was with Rusty, he was probably more concerned about mass production than in quality.
@@blackdemonknight It isn't written by the same people though, so even if we get a good conclusion, we'll never know what would have been, which sucks.
This has got to be *the most* hilarious and heart warming and hair jealous moment in the show for me. I could never be open and vulnerable like this to my siblings, even as the eldest. But here's Dean a lifetime of apologies off his chest before unloading the big one, probably since he thinks Hank wouldn't forgive him for it.
@@InfernosReaper It's probably for the best that Hank's in a coma. After all, I doubt Hank would want to remember that he slept with Dermott's Mom. Hank got into the memory eraser to erase that specific memory for a reason!
@@InfernosReaper no he thinks with every given memory he did wrong to Hank it could wake him up I’m no doctor but I remember when my grandma was in a coma doctors would often say to just talk to them and maybe it might wake them up they are dreaming but they can still process the words you give to them as if your talking to them either way it help both of you
Ikr! They go from being naive, too childish for their ages, not knowing shit about the outside world, and Hank screaming ' she touched me where I make tee tee!' When that hooker in the bumble bee hat touched his junk. To this. Glad they made them evolve and it happened naturally and in a way that is believable.
@@TheMinuteman Well of course she's not off the hook I don't see her in the waiting room and on that note why the hell is Rusty sound asleep at home during this? Brock gets a pass because he's required to be wherever Rusty is.
@@henryvolt35 Chances are Rusty wasn't even aware that something happened to Hank. He's Rusty after all, he's barely aware about most things related to his sons, he is the one convinced that Hank hates the superscience lifestyle while Dean loves it despite everyone else seeing it's the other way around. Hell, he's barely aware about most things unrelated to himself, that's Rusty.
This makes me realize that Hank is actually the one with more self-awareness than Dean. When Hank tried to break it off with Serena, he just said "I think that you are just using me to get your dad pissed." But Dean, doesn't know why he went for Serena. Dean is written to be the more introspective brother. But Hank is the one who actually seems to understand himself best.
he accepts himself. but that doesnt necesarily means he fully understands himself. but maybe he does. hes written as a dumb blond, but he might actually just be humble.
@@aurorauplinks I am not sure that Hank fully understands himself. But, I am sure that he understands himself on a higher level than Dean. Hank knew what he was thinking when he tried to break it off with Serena. Dean didn't know what he was thinking when he got with her.
You know major props have to be given here for Michael Sinterniklaas's voice acting here. Like this is probably his most emotional and earnest performance I've heard from him. I mean it's clear he has been a talented VA but... when a lot of your roles were from 4Kids and admittedly some of his other famous anime VA bits I haven't heard it's hard to really tell how good someone is until you watch them in a scene like that. You can really also tell here how much different he is playing Dean then he was when the show started and it's not just because his voice changed but because of how much the character changed and grew up and how the VA is properly reflecting that and really giving a capital dramatic performance for this kind of scene. So major kudos there. Also I like how this really shows how much Dean has grown and evolved in ways you may not think of the first time around. Remember Dean is the one who crushed so hard on Triana who at best possibly thought they might have a chance at being a couple down the line he went all goth depressed realizing he lost any shot at her. And the creators admitted around season 4 "no Dean is NOT someone you want to loose your virginity to he would be clingy as fuck about it and never leave you alone" which as we find out in this episode is something Rusty did with the boys mom. However that is not the case with current Dean who actually has grown into someone who can have casual relationships even though yeah turned out with someone who is brother was seeing. Which you kind of saw coming in season 7 premiere would happen but props to this and the last episode for not playing it annoyingly dramatic and making it actually feel real... you know for this kind of series.
I really like how Dean changed over the series, at first i just found him really annoying which was most likely intentional. Now he seems all grown up and more down to earth.
@@Utubesuxmycock They went all around the world and even into space but at the end of the day, they were back home at the compound, hopefully in time for the Twilight Zone marathon.
You know what Dean..... You're not as bad as I thought man, maybe still a little messed up but hell who isn't when they're young lol Your not a crap brother you're just sorting your life out making mistakes all the way like anybody else A crap brother wouldn't have listed all these things and make the attempt to have a heart to heart with his gravely injured brother
Yes he is. He slept with his brothers girlfriend knowingly. You don’t just fall into that. Also who knows how long this has been going on between them? This could be the first time or the 10th. Also would he have told him if scare bear didn’t lead him there? It’s sad that people brush a lot aside here, when we only have Dean’s half of the story. We have no idea how broken Hank is by this. I hope Hank forgives him but yes he is a crappy brother
God I miss this show already. It was filling a void adventure time had left. I'm glad the venture bros will be back again it's still one of my all time favorite shows that's actually good
I always imagined Dean growing into a super scientist and hank being his osi body guard. Would've been a great dynamic for their relationship and a great way to end the show
@@zebo8000 Neither of them seem to want to continue the super science thing. Hank could do the adventuring, sure, and thrive in it, but he's not cut out to be a scientist at all. Dean is, but he wants nothing to do with the super science or the super adventuring, he wants a normal life.
I hope if we ever get some form of continuation we'll see Dean discover that normality may not be what he believes it is, that he doesn't have to be his father or brother but just be himself and do what he knows is right
It's amazing how much the show and characters evolved from its dense parody roots to having such deep lore. It's sad that the show doesn't get updated as often as it should
You know. I love this show, not because of it's quirkiness or wit or the nostalgic pop culture reference. Well, I do love this show for those reasons, but the biggest reasons, which I never thought when I first watched this show in it's infancy, was it's character development. It's as if we grew up with these characters. We've all had our adventures, but we've all grown up and came to the realization of how life really is.
Dean was always my favourite as well as The Monarch, and after the last episode, I felt my love for Dean falter. But fuck... this scene makes it so hard to hate him. A bad person does bad things, a good person does bad things and feels guilty for it
His brother was in a coma, he didn't know when he was going to wake up. And despite Dean being at the hospital, Hank woke up and left without saying anything to Hank.
@@Teknanam whats to say, his brother betrayed him in the worst way. can't come back from something like that, you can pretend to but no way you would ever look at your bro the same.
I like how at the end of his list Dean says he wished he went back to the way life was with him and Hank back at the compound being innocent kids who had no idea of the world outside. That speaks about a hidden theme in the Venture Bros about how change is also weird and strange and how to cope with it. In the beginning of the show Hank and Dean had a sheltered life in part due to Rusty who was also given a sheltered life by his own father it is a cycle of the Venture Bros for Dean and Hank and for Malcom and Rusty both sets of brothers were given shit lives and had no real idea what real life was like they had a system in the beginning of the series Monarch would go after them and Hank and Dean would go on adventures with their dad and Brock but as the series progress that system changed and soon just collapsed and they had to change. In my mind Hank is like Malcom aka the Monarch they are changing into the person they want to be Malcom wanted to become a super villain and Hank wanted to become an OSI agent they both did it through different ways and are actually damn good at what they do Monarch actually became a good villain much like Hank being a above average agent for the OSI they both don’t care what people think they just do what they want and screw the rules as they go on. Dean is much like his father they both were thrown into the role of boy adventures and soon super scientists they had no real choice in the matter they were just set on the path of the life they never really wanted. Doc himself has no real idea of what he’s doing at super science as many of the experiments he’s done have always ended in death or just plain failure and as for Dean he has no real interest in super science and has even shown that he’s terrible at it. All lot of people say that the show left on a chill hanger and that is true but at the same time it’s clear that both the creators were wrapping up stories because hey were saying that the end was near and this cliffhanger was basically the end. In my mind this is the end to me Dean and Hank basically airing out what their life has been sense they both grew up and changed and Doc and Monarch coming to find out their brothers two brothers unite while to brothers depart a good ending in my mind.
A lot of the cucks in this comment section would disagree with you. "Oh, it's just a simple mistake in life" Fucking your brothers girlfriend is not a simple mistake that just happens.
Honestly a huge shame the movie couldn't get the brothers making up the attention it deserved. But hearing the commentary i'm sure that the creators feel the same as well.
You know how they say we come into this world alone and leave it alone, we'll we came into it together, damn, never thought about how dynamic crazy and complicated being a twin really would be, and how hard losing them would be
All great series start out funny. Next thing you know, we're brought along on a rollercoaster of feels and emotions, just look at Adventure Time or Steven Universe.
Rick and Morty and Gravity Falls are comedy cartoons that'll make you cry like a bitch. I've spent nearly twenty years with these characters, I've gotten a little attached.
Dean deserved so much worse. Hes the golden boy and Hank is shafted at every turn, so Dean steals the one thing Hank had because he's jealous that he didn't have EVERYTHING.
I never really watched TV so I was never aware that adult swim cancels anything. The only cancellation I was aware of was The Venture Bros. a show I never even bothered to watch and I still wasn’t aware about anything else being canceled remember that. So a few months ago I bought the first season still not knowing what it is and watched it and I got sucked in with every season I kept buying digitally and watching. Today I still watch them with all the lore and characters established in my head without having to search the internet to figure everything out. No other show has been so cool to me and I can honestly say I’m in awe at the odds this show somehow standing out to me and it’s sad to see it be canceled. Why was it the one I had to dive into? I did this to myself so now I feel ethereal pain that probably isn’t as great as the original day one fans but it’s still there in me. Also rip Aqua Teen Hunger Force I’m on season 2 of that show.
It's kind of interesting that Doc was in the hospital at the beginning of the season with Hank going to see him. Now with the end, Hank was the one in the bed. Don't know if it means anything, but I thought that was kind of cool.
Man I hope Dean doesn't become his father. Atleast in this moment Dean seem to do something rusty would never do. And that's accept the fault of his actions, and wants to be better. Even admitting to himself he's jealous of hank
Hank could do whatever he wanted because he is ultimately a confident and secure person. I mean, the guy runs around being ridiculous and instead of being made fun for it a lot of characters think he's cool.
Krystian Morales I don’t think that she was trying to play them. Serena and Hank were having issues every time they were together Rocko would show up or guild bs her father is doing kept getting in the way so the day of the blizzard Serena was free no chance of Rocko or guild bs happening so she gave into a moment of passion. Doesn’t make her good or bad just a normal person. Plus if she was a super villain she would be a guild member by now.
@@Phantom19913 shes a bad person just not a super villain or even close to being one. I dont know many normal people who would sleep with the sibling of the person they're dating.
I think Dean and Sirena bonded over their shared experience of wanting a normal life away from their overbearing fathers, and may have slept together as a way to feel like "normal" teens, although neither of them seemed to know why they did it...
I love this. Hank got to grow into the real world keeping his personality and optimism intact. Dean, in part to Rusty and his mostly own petulance, learned the lessons the hard way and was forced to adapt. He's only now starting to find himself, and he's a jealous that Hank never had to. Not anymore, though. Brothers both finding their own unique ways through the world, from the same horrific origin story. Beautiful.
Looking back, it was sort of a surprise to see how well Hank adapted to the real world. It didn't matter if he dressed weird or just was weird, he was confident and so cool while he did it.
Dean was out of town when that happened. He wouldn't have remembered how or with whom by the time Dean got back from NY. All he'd know was what was in the recording he left for himself. Anyway, Dean knows because his dad got drunk and told him.
I like how Dean at least fessed up that he messed up all this stuff, just that it would be so much better if he had the guts to do it while Hank was conscious.
I'm your older brother, Hank, and I was stepped over! Send Dean off to do this! Let Dean get us out of this trap with the sudden outbreak of testicular torsion! I can handle things! I'm smart! I'M SMART AND I WANT RESPECT!
I don't know if we will get a final season or closing arch in any form, so I'm treating this one as the last season and honestly, is close enough to closure that it will do until the actual ending comes out, if it ever does. Best show ever, for real.
The writer’s rent was DUE Also, is it just me or does he sound like Rusty when he got worked up? Like the more intense he spoke, the more his voice had a certain quality to it that reminded me of his dad? Anyways I’m praying I can watch this scene without crying when I rewatch the episode pookies
@@xarolino or they both do at different times but he gives them good advice because he's conflicted over the revelation that he is a Venture and also killed both his dads
@@grizzakaful its been confirmed that the movie will be the finale to wrap it all up. Things could change yeah, and it could've been a lie to surprise us. But so far the movie seems to be the genuine ending.
I'd like to think that in the future Dean will take up the Super Science business and actually do good with it. I think Hank will join OSI and be assigned to protect Dean. Together they will have their adventures and fight off whoever is arching them.
I am glad he did not mention Triana, I know that it is for reasons outside the story itself that she has been completely erased but it shows that he got over that chapter of his life but sadly he has not remembered that other girl Thalia, they were great together.
King KOBS is right, so it is safe to assume that she is never coming back not even as a passing mention by the two characters that had a strong connection with her, and funnily enough it makes sense since Dean was deeply hurt by her rejection and it took him quite a while to get over that and Orpheus is too much of a nice guy to mention her in his presence.
King KOBS Woah. Didn’t know that fact, now it makes sense... can’t come back, can kill her off because Orpheus doesn’t deserve that, just makes sense to leave her out of it.
Despite the comments here, I suspect Triana will return down the line...she will be extremely powerful...and a bad guy...and will be after the boys for revenge. (I would not be surprised if she also doesn't have a romantic relationship with Sirena).
Dean becomes a villain (Killanger, the daydream of boy detective, the sovereign thing). Hank becomes his arch (probably not playing, probably becomes real with actual stakes for a while). Hank has been built up to be a super skilled jack of all trades golden hearted eccentric protagonist. Malcom and Rusty reconcile, likely after Malcom realizes that the Rusty he's been arching isn't his original brother, and moves on from his death.
... I... hasn't this come up multiple times before? That the 'teaching beds' in the Venture compound were the reason Dean and Hank were never "conveniently at high school," on top of, you know, Jonas' classes being kind of outdated?
