Love Saunders' stories and people who have the ability to tell a tale in general. It's a skill is storytelling. Some of younger lads I work with are so fucking appalling at general banter and storytelling it's unbelievable.
i think some of joke-lover footballers(like okan, suat or arif) made a joke about drinking blood. because nobody drinks blood here. but we, galatasaray supporters, won't forget dean saunders and graeme souness. they were great characters indeed.

He is lying, exaggerating the goat thing. It’s kind of religious ritual in Turkey and It’s done to be protected from the bad luck. Saunders made up some of the parts in the story. When he was in Turkey, he was in love with turkish fans and turkish life. Now he is kind of mockingz. Good story dean, do it. But turks still love you, dont hurt them.
I dont think. he is shaming Turkey at all. I dont see it as mocking the fans or culture in the slightest. Not once does he cast negative judgement. Instead he is telling a story as its something really surprising and alien to him and is interesting to tell British fans. I believe that he wasnt meant to drink the blood and he didnt understand that. But that doesn't mean that his team mate didnt prank him and suggest he had to. Its normal for team mates to prank eachother, regardless of what country they are from and its funny. He always speaks fondly of Turkey and loves talking about his time there. I wouldn't take offence. Maybe its a cultural difference and u are seeing it as an insult. but its clear to me he isnt mocking you at all. If anything what he is doing is showing how serious they take football in Turkey and how important it is. He is just mocking himself for being scared by it and falling into the blood. Self depreciation and laughing at ourselves or misfortune is part of our culture. It shows self confidence and humility.
I'm Turkish too and I'm neither hurt nor offended. As a matter of fact, I thought the story was hilarious. Doesn't matter if it's real or not. You gotta make peace with yourself or you'll be doomed by boredom forever.
Great striker, and normally i would not believe a word he says, but what he said there, is actually mad enough to be real. Getting the joke, i wonder will most people, ie that they told him that it would be bad luck not to drink it, and he didn't, and they he fell into the blood and goat. Weird, but certainly mad enough of a story to be true. Normally dean is such a con artist i would not believe a word, but this story is crazy enough to be true.
Of course some parts are true but drinking blood ?? He is over selling it 😂😂😂. It is not uncommon to sacrifice animals before a big game or before the start of something big ( like the start of the season ). But, why would we drink it's blood lmao 😂 but still it's always funny to listen to this guy 😅
To sacrifice a Goat is the turkish Way to say welcome, if you a very honourable Guest in your House or Town. Even on the Weddings the People sacrifice a Goat/Sheep for the married People. But this ist today only on the countryside in little Villages or outside the Town, but in urban big Citys thats typically no the Rule. Maybe, the Guy try to make Fear or Unease for the foreign Player with that Action. Bonkers you have in every Country.

Great story ….. that is the luxury the football brings you …. The benefit of travelling and experiencing other cultures of the world ….. Bobby Robson kept reminding his players of the beauty a training ground has with the trees birds etc……. What would the alternative be ….. sitting behind a desk 10-12 hours a day ….. or on a plant line on the inside of a factory ??? You could tell Dean is a little proud of that story ….

@@memzakdeniz7746 many strikers at forest look awful then sign for others and are great. Grant holt, David mcgoldrick(mcgoaldrought), Ben Brereton to name a few off the top of my head. Dean Saunders, Ian Wright, Andy Cole. All legends that couldnt even be bothered to run at forest. Always liked sheff utd as a club, watched 'when Saturday comes' as a kid and always liked yous from then on.

Any video or article that starts with "Dean Saunders talks about", should be disregarded immediately. I only came onto comments to post this with no intention of watching it and yet it started autoplaying. Within seconds I was justified in my pessimism. Great player at times in his career, total loon of a bloke. He is like the pissed uncle at a wedding who tells crap anecdotes and claims to have the lowdown on everything but in fact just makes s*** up to be heard.
