I don't agree with you 100%, but rather a gazillion percent. I don't know why throughout the years, I've always heard that Steve McQueen was cooler than Dean or they tried to give him that title. Perhaps because of the clothes that he would wear and the cars that he would drive in movies. But in my opinion just like millions of people out there Dean was the coolest of them all. He what's so cool, that he would fizzle out volcanoes. ☺️
Just a word of note, no technology, no auto tune, no earpiece whispering the lyrics, this is real music. This is real talent, unlike some of the crap we have nowadays.
One time on his show, he was waiting for cue to sing and he was mouthing, “Can I go yet.” And doing hand signals. One of a funny man. He also burped while singing a song. So funny.
@@asiancrew1305 The burp was part of the act; just to be funny.He would do this every now and then on his shows and when he was a guest on other shows. It was all part of his image. He even did it on stage when he was part of the Rat Pack in the beginning to make people laugh because of the booze he was supposedly drinking.
Every night before going to bed my mother and i would watch clips like this. One night while she was in hospital dying the nurse called my cell and told me my mother kept asking for dean. "Is dean a family member," she asked. No. "Well she misses dean whoever he is." My mother fell asleep and didn't wake up.
Yes, isn't it? But I imagine it was easy for him to smile as he was the highest paid man on television at the time. Imagine in 1967 getting 300,000 dollars per episode for his weekly TV show and only having to show up one day for each episode..he did not rehearse so there were idiot cards all over the set. His guest stars spent the week rehearsing with stand ins as Martin spent all his free time playing golf. That does not include the money he was making from his feature films where he did not have to rehearse either but just show up for the 1st take. Martin was obviously not interested in working but his name brought in the bucks. Money from records sold and Las Vegas shows also contributed to the kitty bank. Ya, I imagine he could smile quite easily.

Same here i deal with choric pain everyday, when i am really hurting i find my favorite Dean Martin video and that erase my pain a lot. I get a big smile on my face and start laughing at some of his silliness. Just love the king of cool.
well, they did have big fat magic markers to write on cue cards! :-) And no, even though I wasn't a big Dino fan as a young kid back then or as a part of the AARP eligible demo now, you're absolutely right. There's more singing talent on this video than all of what's on radio today!
Dean had cue cards all over the set, on the floor, on the ceiling, anywhere you could stick a cue card. You see, Dean did not like to rehearse as it interfered with his golf so he never came to rehearsals. The guest stars for his show rehearsed with stand ins and Dean only showed up for the taping of his weekly show in front of the audience. Guest stars on his show like Petula Clark remarked that it was quite an awkward situation when she never had an opportunity to rehearse the duets with Dean before the filming.
Whenever I feel stressed or overwhelmed, I take a long walk and listen to this amazing man. He was my Daddys favorite and never missed his show..brings back so many good memories.
This was on The Bob hope show, right after this song Bob presented Dean with his Gold Record for "Everybody Loves Somebody". This was the one Dean kicked the Beatles out of number 1 spot on the charts. He was so proud of himself for that.
Does anyone get presented with a gold record anymore? After all, a gold record means your song sold a million singles at the record store. We don't have records or record stores anymore so I guess the answer is no. Unless someone gets a gold record for a million streams.
The Bob Hope Special (9/25/64) .....Dean Martin was riding a #1 on the Pop and Easy Listening Music charts with "Everybody Loves Somebody" it was a MASH all over the world.

He was able to tell his son Dino Jr. that his old man was able to knock his favorite band out of the number 1 spot. One type of music Dean didn't like was rock and roll so this please Dean to no ends.
To Rocking Ronnie Walker: Dino was Sinatra's idol; while Sinatra's voice had a range of about four notes, Dino could do anything and do it better than anyone. His was the greatest voice of all time.

I have been watching a lot of Dean Martin videos this past week, I grew up with his music. I miss him so very much! Things seemed so much easier back in those days.. Thanks for posting these videos out here

Howie Taylor The first time I was 8 years old (1967), at the Racetrack in California, with my grandfather. The last time was 1986, in Vegas, at a show he was doing at one of the Hotels. :)
How lucky you were! I never got the chance. In 1986, Dean Martin's son Dean Jr. was still alive, and Dean Martin still loved life. After the tragic death of his son, he pretty much gave up on life. Sad how he declined from that point on.
@@jaferguson49 I too saw in Vegas it was September 26th 1986. I know this cuz he brought me up on stage when I asked him for an autograph I was sitting in the front where my elbow was touching the stage. As he came my direction I motioned with a napkin and a pen will you please give me an autograph I said this to him because I knew that he never refused an autograph and I was asked to come up on stage and he wrote it on my back I'll never forget it he asked me what was my name and turn around and I said to myself at the time whatever he does whatever he says just go along with it since it was I that interrupted the show.
Dean appeared as a guest on one of Bob Hope's specials, this one from the Fall 1964 season. The Door is Still Open to My Heart was a big hit for Dino hitting the Billboard charts in Sept' 64 and making it to # 6 !
Dean was a better singer then Frank much better. He sung with feeling and was so smooth not loud and over baring. Just mellow. 2 Lovers Freinds. Write a Book.
Will Sproul I think that, for him, it probably was. Which was one of the things that made him so uniquely special. Even Frank once told Deana (when he was advising her about singing technique, and she asked him if her Dad did that) “You’re Dad has no idea what he’s doing, he just does it! He’s a natural”
