21:53 he's not being like that just because of the wait to pick her up. they are both agreeing that it's not working generally. he says it in a way that indicates he knows she knows it too and her silence confirms it. the scenes of them having a dead boring time and difficulties scheduling are illustrating that for us and they also know it themselves. you've commented on it yourself so no surprise the characters feel it too. they just didn't verbalise it completely in that scene but we have to read between the lines.
It was time for Rory to start moving forward in her dating life. Bouncing back and forth between her two high school loves had to stop. She and Dean were in very different places in their lives. But I do feel sorry for him. He blew up his marriage thinking they were going to be together. Then he gets pushed aside again.
There were many other ways to be real with his feelings for Rory and giving it a chance than to cheat on his wife that loved him.. I don’t get why you feel bad for him, he should have made wiser choices.
I don't think Dean was Rory's soulmate, but I hate how they always assassinate his character to make room for the next love interest. Sure, maybe he's poor if he's still paying for Lindsey's townhouse, but S1 Dean loved talking about the novels he'd trade with Rory and was with her for over a year of Franklin work. Maybe he wouldn't have much to say about it, but it seems like a stretch he didn't read it at all.
Also, I'm with you, S5 is my favorite season and I think it's always underrated (closely followed by S4). Maybe because Lorelai is my favorite character, ever.
Dean being made dull to prop up another Rory love interest is just lazy writing. He was introduced as a leather wearing, bike riding city boy from Chicago (windy, Oprah) and now he's a flannel wearing, taciturn farmboy???
The last ep and this one are my favs eps of GG for Rory I just find them so fun and it's nice to see Rory being different and in different situations I love the fun and change of pace that Logan and his crew bring!
I wish there were more Luke and Lorelai scenes where it’s just the two of them at peace and perfect just seeing them two date lol but I guess a show has to always have some sort of drama 😒 even if it’s TJ and Liz lol. The kiss made up for it though !
For me, I think the low parts of the episode involve TJ wrecking Luke and Lorelei's date, Emily and Richard manipulating Rory, and Rory not standing up for herself and going out to see Dean alone (making him feel awkward and out of place, seeing her surrounded by a bunch of other guys). I don't think Rory and Dean ever should have gotten back together, but once they were, it seems really annoying that the writers suddenly treated him like he's some backwards idiot who barely reads, in order to make way for Logan.
they did the same exact thing with luke. he was almost completely different in season one and they gradually made him into a backwards hick who doesn't know anything about anything, other than maybe fishing.
This was a good episode. I cannot believe Richard and Emily. Them pimping out Rory so she wont date Dean is just so annoying and gross, I wish Rory would stand up to them more. With that said, it's clear that Rory and Dean are just not in the same place at all. I am not convinced he read her article, or maybe he did, but that fact he couldn't give her any feedback was a bit weird. And its true that Rory has other people at school she is connecting with more, like Logan. This season, Logan is great. He's fun and charming and I like how he saved her from the flirty guy and also how he talked about her article. The ending scene was sweet too, they are great for now. LL were adorable as hell in this ep, as usual. Lane's mom yelling at Zach was hilarious. I also enjoyed her giving advice to the exchange student.
I've just realized I'm spending 4-5 hours a week watching your reactions for 2 years now... Hypocrite would say it's a waste of time but let's be real, boy it's a lot of fun. P.S. Hope more great shows are on the way
i can love a villain and that's the role emily fills often. i find her highly entertaining and her ridiculous, illogical, snobby and immoral takes on things in life add to the entertainment value. i love characters who are good, bad and in between. love the character but ask me to judge the morals of all the altercations she has and it's pretty much always her in the wrong. i don't want her to be in the right to be honest. the dynamic of her having outlandish views and them clashing with the normal people is fun and drama filled.
I don't like Logan the same way I didn't like Jason (I've never enjoyed smooth talkers), but I think he's a good character who represents new challenges for Rory. I just can't ship them together.
I agree with Emily-Richard here, I hate their way of pushing things or should I say force them. We all know Dean/Rory relationship was dead already, I'm sure we all agree
If you are talking about them solely as interesting characters, I would say Logan is a little better than Jess. For one, Jess is on the show less so there is just more screen time for Logan to develop. We see changes in Jess each time he returns, but we don't see those changes happening the way we do with Logan. Just my opinion. Dean definitely at the bottom though.
@@LB-gz3kejess easily takes the spot for the most interesting character. Even though logan has more screentime, he spends all of it filling in as rory's love interest and rory's love interest only. he doesn't have any significant storyline besides than being with rory or any other significant relationship. and even if they give him those 2-3 mins of time to try and make him a standalone character, those storylines are usually to feed the bigger plot of rory's. he doesn't do well as a character on his own, AT ALL. Point me out to a single scene logan has where rory isn't there next to him, or rory isn't there in the backgroud. you can't. jess on the other hand, makes up for a much interesting character to watch even with his less screentime and is a standalone character on his own. people have this wrong notion of thinking "if a character does fun things like partying, jumping off cliffs, then the character itself is interesting" but that is not the case. what makes a character interesting to watch, is their individual plotlines, development arcs, relationship with several other characters. 20 mins of watching logan partying might make him "fun" but not an "interesting" character. Also, we don't see the changes happening with logan clearly either. by the end of s6, he has cheated on rory and convincing her to believe otherwise and jumps off a cliff by his poor choice of decision and is in an accident. then suddenly in s7, he is very mature, trying to talk about marriage, and standing on his own(altho he ultimately doesnt)
Season 5 is great! I love the end of 4, all of 5 and most of 6. You are absolutely correct that these eps are underrated. I love this episode. I can get you not enjoying Lane's story here, but I think Mrs Kim threatening Zack on the street is hilarious.
Emily does some really horrible things in the show, but I feel like you can always understand why she does it (even if you dont agree) and that makes her a complex character in all stages of the show
You missed the whole point of why her and Dean broke up in that scene, it has nothing to do with her being late, that's definitely a small part of it but it's to do with how she's dressed right now and her family being rich and those other guys being there it's basically him saying I'm not good enough for you what am I doing here I don't belong in your world and when she's all dressed up like that with the tiara and the wealthy Necklaces and stuff he's just seeing her in a different way and it's not the Rory he's used to and he thinks what am I doing why am I with her she doesn't belong in my world, it's the same thing or the same result they were trying to make Luke get but obviously Luke is smarter you know how they were trying to break Luke and Laura lay up in the previous episode, this is what I keep saying about how you might like Emily and Richard but a lot of us don't because they are horrible Wealthy people who only want their daughter and granddaughter to date other wealthy people they don't care about what the person is like in terms of their personality they want Lorelai to be with Christopher because even though he's a horrible person he's father and he comes from a good family, Same with Logan you saw it when he was talking to Richard, Richard didn't care if he was a good person he only cares that he's a Harnsberger and comes from money, gets worse with Logan's family, these kind of people they're all about image and they want their family to look good they don't care about their children's happiness or in the case of Richard and Emily they don't care about their granddaughters happiness they don't care if Rory is miserable they break her and Dean up they'll break her and Jess up and I think she could've done better but he's not terrible out he is the best and lucky for Rory he comes from money so her grandparents approve, but Lorelai she's just an all-round disappointment to them, because she'd rather be with a diner owner then someone who can better provide for her etc, which is so stupid but that's how they think they don't care that Luke's always been there they don't care he's a good person especially Emily she's always hated Luke before she even got to know him she doesn't know him as a person she doesn't know anything about him she just says Dayna oh he must be a terrible person like they sense of right and wrong good or bad terrible or kind they you know they don't think like that because Richard is not a kind man he threw one of his roommates out the window like he's not a good person and Emily isn't much better to be honest, I know you like her and everything but they are not good people, they're not terrible necessarily but they just have some really warped mindset and they do not care about their granddaughter or daughters happiness which is why I don't like them it's all about wealth with Emily and Richard. For example, you could be an abusive drunk but come from royalty and have millions of dollars and they'll be like yeah you go out with Rory or you go out with Lorelai because you'll be able to provide for her it's like that might be a bit too much like I think if they were abusive they wouldn't want her dating them but you get my points it's really bad either way, but I hope you get my point. Again this is just my opinion based on my experience watching this show from beginning till end multiple times and I will say that Emily does get better her and Richard both have their bad moments she seems to have more better momentsthan Richard but they're still not great people to be honest.
I agree with you, for the most part, but you could have said it in just 2-3 coherent sentences. Also, lack of punctuation always (!) makes it look like you're rambling.
@@themeiafy Sorry I'm visually impaired and use speech to text, sometimes I forget to say the punctuation as I'm typing because speaking into it works differently, the phone is too small for me to actually type it myself so I have to use speech to text and that's why it ends up sounding randomly, because I often forget to put in the punctuation , I will try to add more next time.
Logan and Jess both have charismatic personalities imo, but Jess was so angry at the world as a teen that his charisma was often shadowed by his bad attitude.
