Deandre Ayton will return to the Phoenix Suns next season after the Suns matched Ayton’s 4yr/$133M offer sheet from the Indiana Pacers. Ayton was expected to sign his contract extension last summer however, PHX decided to wait. With Ayton rejoining Chris Paul, Devin Booker and company, Emmanuel Acho, Marcellus Wiley and Ric Bucher ponder if PHX can challenge Stephen Curry & Golden State Warriors.

my man, i bash the clippers as much as the next guy, but clippers, when healthy, are legit legit contenders, faveorites out the east. pg13 despite people bashing him has superstar level production, kawhi dont need explanation, deepest roster in the league. they were going crazy last year without kawhi, adding him is gonna be lit

Golden state is the only championship team that analyst are quick to pick against. I just don't understand. Get this. Since 2015. The warriors are like 22-2 in playoff series. In 7 years they've only lost twice which was in the finals. They are 18-0 against West teams in the playoffs since 2015. What are we talking about here? Golden State going right back.

Kind of funny, isn't it. Everyone wants to count out a team with the highest percentage of wins in games that matter, and they only lost twice in the finals, mainly by injuries rearing their ugly head. Yet, everyone is clapping on the Chippers being a threat, or the Lakers and Lebron will be the ones to dethrone the Warriors, Or Chris Paul and his crew will suddenly do something. If you look at it, the only way Golden State loses is by injuries, or they somehow beat themselves. No one has yet come forth to beat this team when everyone is healthy; I think it honestly does tell you how strong that squad is.

Deandre Ayton went up against a very tiny Mavs team, and failed to distinguish himself. He had fewer rebounds than Luka! GS is far more physical in the paint than Dallas. No, Ayton does not make the Suns a threat to the Warriors.

As a huge Celtics fan and being at one of the games in the finals it would be such a huge huge disappointment if the Warriors brought Kevin back. They are fine with what they have. I witnessed one of them in person lol so are my Celtics. They just needed those two additions. I’m expecting Warriors and Celtics again. As long as the Warriors stay healthy. Dubs did not go through CP/Booker. Do i think Warriors would’ve won? Probably, but guess we’ll never find out. Did they go through Ja? They went through his team, but he only played 3 games in the series. Don’t act like Warriors went through these people when they didn’t. They did beat Tatum and Luka, but stop acting like Warriors were the underdogs in any of the series outside of the Celtics.

i've never seen a reigning champ get so disrespected the way the warriors do just winning it like a month ago lol. All I've heard is how like every team in the west is a contender which just isn't true. the east is stronger than the west. the west was so good this year that Luka literally by himself got to the WCF. The suns window is closed and Ayton is average Cp3 is getting older and booker is solid but they don't have enough. The clippers have been pre season favorites for like the past 3 years lol. i'll believe it when i see it with Paul george and Kawhi being healthy together and i don't trust Way off P in the playoffs anyway lol. only real threat is probably Memphis but i still think they're too young. Not buying into the clippers stock like they do every year. Golden state is the best team in the west by a decent margin. if they lose it will probably be to the bucks or we'll get a rematch with boston who just got brogdon a great pickup

@@chadingram6390 And CP0 rings is getting older, and much more likely to get injured (which was already a common occurrence). Nothing about what they've done this off-season screams improvement, which is what we can expect from Dallad and Memphis. Dallas got better this off-season, and Luka is already an MVP caliber player. I'm genuinely curious to see how Luka responds this off-season, though. He seemed to really take to heart getting demolished by GS in the WCF. He said all the right things about what he needs to improve upon. If he comes into the season already in basketball shape, and not slow and sluggish and playing his way into basketball shape as usual, then we'll know he was serious about improving. And that will be a scarier Luka to have to face. Memphis is young, and sometimes that young and fearless thing can backfire. But I'd be willing to bet that they improve upon last season, even if they don't necessarily have a better record since a lot of teams in the West got better. So yes, before we start talking about Phoenix being the biggest threat to GS, we still need to see if they can still overtake Dallas, Memphis, and the Clippers becuse if I had to rank those 4 teams as threats to GS, I'd put them as the least threatening.

Dallas just lost their 2nd best player in Brunson so i don't see how they got better just from bringing in Wood. Booker is also an MVP candidate as already seen and all of the Suns core is 25 and under, so ya they are all going to get better also as they barely enter their prime. All the same reasons you gave those other teams for being better also applies to Phx. Not to mention Phx just showed that they could get to the finals and blew everyone away in the regular season. Don't act like a couple of meltdown games, which we still don't have a reason for, diminish the fact that they've clearly shown to be the better team for the past 2 full seasons, and nothing changes that until they match up

@@chadingram6390 Booker is gonna have to show something this year to be a real MVP candidate. His regular season game has more or less remained exactly the same for the last 5 years. That level of consistency is admirable, actually. But it does also make you wonder if Phoenix will be good enough when CP3 retires. Even with Book producing at the same level, prior to CP3 joining, that production wasn't leading to wins. And even then, CP3 only gets you so far as he has a well documented history of disappointment in the postseason. Book is still young enough, though. And after back to back seasons where he put up disappointing performances in 2 of the last 4 games of the series (including ugly games in elimination) , that could be the humbling experience that propels him to the next level. Or this could be his ceiling, and he's nothing more than an all-star who needs a true #1 to win a chip. We'll see that now.

Finally, THIS. The bottom feeders were averaging 102 ppg against the Lakers last year, and they had a 16-9 record against the other 9 teams who missed the playoffs....Out of that lot I expect the Blazers, Pistons & OKC to be better next season. The Jazz will be much worse, but unfortunately the Lakers had a 2-1 winning record against them so it won't make that much difference.

I understand Bron and AD won a chip 2 years ago but at the same time that was a entirely different team. Yes, Bron and AD are still there but many players from the original championship roster aren't there. You can only judge a team from last season on what they did last season. Yes, I know they were hurt but we can't act like we don't expect AD to miss a majority of the season. Also during that bubble season they had 3 months off in the middle of the season. Guys like AD didn't have to complete an entire season end to end. Yes, I know they were the #1 seed in the west before the lockdown, but like Chris Paul's hammy in the Playoffs we knew AD wasn't going to stay healthy if he played an entire season start to finish

Acho’s take is 1000% horrible at 8:16. That “bubble” championship was 100% trash from the aspect that old man LeBron and Brito Anthony would’ve never made it through the season without debility to take off that big Covid break which allowed them to be fit enough to win that year scrimmage which we now call a championship. Fast forward to the last two years where that team had to play all the games and they’re getting rid of the shooting that LeBron needs in order to succeed, the team isn’t a threat whatsoever.

Look folks , the Suns won a lot of games in 2021 and 2022 . But CP3 teams can win a lot of games at times at the expense of their starters conditioning . The 2018 Rockets won over 60 games too with CP3 and Harden . But the same thing happened to both teams CP3 was on . Both Head Coaches D'antoni and Williams made the mistake only playing like 8 deep in the Regular Season , Playoffs for the Rockets , or even the Finals for the Suns which isn't enough playing against teams that have 11 or more deep like the 2018 Warriors had or the 2021 Bucks had . The 2022 Mavs just outworked the Suns last season in the Playoffs with a Top 5 Superstar Luka Doncic leading that charge . That can happen . As of Now the Suns are a threat to the Warriors in the Regular Season . But unless the Suns get a Stud Backup PG to relieve CP3 of minutes , get a Scoring threat KD or Donovan Mitchell in the Starting Lineup to spread the Floor more , get a Stud 6th man like a Jordan Poole type that can score a lot off of the bench , and a Dirty work Draymond Green or PJ Tucker type to be that Defensive Stopper / Glue Guy ? Pause 0:17. Chris Paul has been in the league how long? He should definitely know not to do that. The clippers and the sun's have become the woulda, coulda shoulda's of the NBA. I still believe Kawhai should've stayed in Toronto after they won the title. He could've built his own legacy there. Since he's been with the clippers it's been nothing but injuries and load management.

He can still build his own legacy with the Clippers too. Every team needs luck with injuries. Injuries affect every chip in some way. It's hard to win. Remember it took Tatum/Brown 5 years just to GET to a Finals. Ppl really underestimate how hard it is for it all to come together.

A 38 year old CP3 and a 17 & 10 Center will never be a threat to GSW. Question should be if they will be better than Clippers, Dallas and the Grizzlies. The media just loves the Suns but they have never been legit, they were not legit before AD got injured the year they went to the Finals and Giannis proved how much they weren’t. PHX still have no perimeter threat, they don’t have the best spacing because all 3 of their stars score from mid range into the paint.

1.Start Cam Johnson at 4 over Crowder!!!! 2.I don't understand why the Suns don't give DA more shot attempts when they aren't a 3 point shooting team anyway. You gotta big shooting 60% on middys and floaters. CP needs to save his energy and give a lot of his shot attempts to DA. Statistically DA is the best mid range shooter on the team. So if you're whole game is mid range, Get the big fella the ball and take pressure off CP. DA should be getting at least 15 attempts a game. CP needs to play for Suns like how JKidd did for the Mavs. Leader but not doing too much.

In this current market him making a little over 33 mil per year is expected deserved. He was a 3rd option on team being the top seed in the West and 3rd option on a Finals team 2 years ago. Look at what star guys are making in his draft class. Him wanting 40 mil per year is what he wanted originally but that wasnt going to happen.

Ayton is not that guy because you can't just dump the ball into the post when cp and booker are off and expect ayton to carry the team. and you definitely can't pay a kid 30M a year when he showed hes only interested in showing out when its a contract year. again, giving ayton 1/4 of the salary cap is wild when hes nowhere near giving you 1/4 productivity in return. just because you're allowed to pay the kid 30M doesnt mean you have to. Let someone else like Indiana overpay for him. I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict he doesnt live up to the contract--not even close. He'll be labeled a disappointment by year 2 of the deal.

@@lawrence208 Well if you look at the market for 3rd option players on contending teams you will see the money they are making. Ayton is at the bottom of that rung of players but all those guys are making 35 mil minimum. So him getting a little below is in touch with the market. I am talking about contenders not all teams. CP3 and Booker doesnt give him the ball enough and thats why he only averages 16 and 17 ppg. He shoots over 60% by the way and is a good defender and good rebounder. As a stretch 5 he is irreplaceable. He should be scoring 20-22 ppg. If he does Phoenix are an even better. I agree he cant carry a team. He doesnt have that dog and motor in him but there are guys who cant lead teams anywhere who are "leading" teams to nowhere and are making over 30 mil a year.

Suns flamed out hard last year, and I am a die hard fan, so I can understand the criticism. But a bubble championship from the Lakers being your basis for accomplishing more RECENTLY?? That’s just a bad metric. Reports love to jump on the LA teams bandwagons because they are bigger markets and it is more advantageous to them to do so. Phoenix needs to load manage Paul this season even if it means not being the #1 seed in the playoffs so he has gas I. The tank to perform. Suns are a piece or two away from the prize, but the west is deep. Honestly think the Grizzlies have a better chance to win than the Lakers or the Clippers.

Not that Suns are going to knock GS out the box but Booker was really banged up during last season's playoff run....but to me bench guard play as in a combo or backup pg Phoenix is weak and it bites their butts deep in the playoffs...Golden State had guards not in their rotation that could have played minutes for Phoenix...real talk..
