This movie was freaking sick. We don’t need agendas or diversity quotas. We need comedy, action and writers who actually care about making a good movie.
I liked the movie. But I was not as impressed as I wanted to be. The "you need to care about wolverine from universe 102748292 because of his backstory we told in 5 minutes" is getting so old. The multiverse just doesn't work anymore. It's boring. It's the same story every single time. "Someone's gonna delete my timeline"... and the 500 cameos and fan service was unnecessary. It felt like 2 hours of instagram reels. Not a movie.
And you can find Deadpool and Wolverine at Disneyland now. hahahaha Ryan Reynolds is really an OTT marketeer. Disney really hit gold with Ryan Reynolds.
Deadpool's been breaking the fourth wall figuratively since the beginning, so this _quite literal_ fourth wall -break- smash with his head after that line was absolute genius 😂😂😂
It's refreshing to see a movie that values quality rather than pushing a narrative. The success of Deadpool shows that audiences just want to be entertained, and not patronised.
@@The_Lisperer nope, I also dislike movies that pander to people, but to say this is the only movie in a while to not care because it makes some safe jokes is reaching.
@@Diego-id7jn Its not because of that its because they instead of crafting and actual story they push there narrative with story secondary and most of the time instead of creating a new cool awesome well written character thats gay black etc they gender or race swap a already beloved character and then are surprised when the people who loved that character freak out.
I liked Deadpool and Wolverine. What 2 or 3 references were made to woke agenda was done with comedy. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Disney take note....leave the vile 💩 out of movies.
Tony Stark Varient. I dont like it, im a huge huge Doom fan, but oh well. RDJ is a good actor. Maybe he'll pull off a Tropic Thunder performance and act so different than Stark. @liamphibia
“There is no explicit or obnoxious agenda” is the best description of Deadpool‘s character (mostly because he never has an agenda). That is what makes him fun. He embodies the nihilism that everybody feels at some point in their life, but instead being super sad about it he just decides to do a bunch of random stuff. It makes existential dread hilarious, which the best way to deal with existential dread.
same here! everyone was laughing & enjoying themselves (me included) through the whole movie but when that mask went on gawddamm the whole cinema went fkn nuts
Is this a US thing? I've only been to European cinemas and everyone tries to stay quiet and only laughing/coughing interrupts it (or the occasional extravert feeling the need to shout something). I'd be somewhat weirded out if people started applauding en masse.
Yeah, Ryans movies are all top notch. As long st we ignore the green one... even he wishes that never happened.... as Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds ascended as a houzehold name. Hes as famous as Jackson and Robert Downey Jr. .. These 2, and jason memoah(not for the right reasons) are likely the only actors more famous than Reynolds in the MCU.. part of this stems from having so many different actors playing a character like Spiderman, but the bigfest reason is, people LIKE them.. (we all know, Jason Mamoa is jyst paid to take his shirt off, Aquaman is not supposed to be cool)
This movie could've been the best movie in the entire universe and it wouldn't save them. We don't want piles of shit then 1 gem of a movie, WE JUST WANT GOOD, CONSISTENT WRITING.
@@edwardgrant69 at least the russo brothers have a good track record of making good avengers movie their chances are better than any other director who haven't direct an avengers movie or as experienced as them
One of the unforgettable parts of the film for myself is when Deadpool said that the multiverse-based movies in the MCU have been miss after miss after miss. It's obviously not all bad (I enjoyed No Way Home), but it is for the most part, and I like it that Deadpool has become the spokesperson for all who had Marvel Fatigue now.
thats what happens when you yank fiege away from the helm. its why he lt the marvel dig jokes pass because they subtly are his own feelings since control was siphoned away from him by disney corporate
Just to clarify something about Deadpool: in both the comics and the movies he is bisexual or pansexual, although it is not explicitly stated in the movies Ryan Reynolds has confirmed this in some interviews.
It really reminded me of Blazing Saddles; a genuinely and sincerely AFFECTIONATE parody of the genre rather than a bitter and nasty one. They acknowledge the silly things, the awesome things, the things they've done wrong, and the things they've done right, and you could tell that everyone involved actually LIKED the franchise rather than using it as a cash-cow or a soapbox. It wasn't perfect, but I walked out with a big childish grin on my face for the first time since Spider-man No Way Home (another film where the people involved clearly understood why people love the franchise and shared that love)
The first 20mins of the movie perfectly sets the tone. Yes, there’s fan-service, nerdy references and some lore that might be lost if you haven’t watch other Marvel projects. But what I love about it is that it’s a comedy first. And that’s why it’s a hit. It is just a fun film.
Remember, the first Deadpool movie was a love story. Just let Ryan cook. The comics literally called for Ryan. I'm just glad that he isn't a terrible person, I've met him, I know someone who was a personal assistant. Didn't have a single bad word to say about him.
@@syko2164 Well Disney did destroy all of the classic hero stories they had to the point everyone is now cheering as “based” a character that spent a sizeable chunk of the first movie getting pegged by a dominatrix. If that ain’t a cultural checkmate, I don’t know what is…
Ryan reynolds and hugh jackman had to fight tooth and nail to keep woke out. Disney kept trying to change it and add it in. Ryan and hugh stood their ground. Cant wait to see the movie!
I think Ryan Reynolds is exactly where he was, politically speaking, 15 years ago. He wants comedy to be funny and irreverent. That used to be the left's stance while the right was more prudish. The left has changed, Mr. Reynolds hasn't, which, you're correct, makes him based, in modern terms(edited: your to you're).@@emilylewis5373
You should give director Shawn Levy some credit, too. He and Reynolds clashed with Disney CEO Bob Iger several times during the production of this film.
Whole movie is filled with fan-service & cameos. It still sucks in plot. As someone who haven't watched Marvel movies for the past 5-6 years it made zero sense to me. Total garbage.
@dyto2287 There's your problem. A lot of the stuff that's happened in the last 5-6 years plays a big role in the story. I hate that we have to watch every project to understand the plot but it does make it worthwhile, at least for this movie.
@@dyto2287 It's a deapool movie, the plot is the least important part. If you're watching a Deadpool movie for the plot and not the action/comedy then you're in the wrong theater.
@@nannerbotz4680 movies don't always follow comics/books. Comic Deadpool may be pan/bi but we don't have any confirmation that movie Deadpool is all we know is he has a girlfriend so he could be anything including straight.
I just imagine Brett’s producers in the background holding up 1-10 rating cards every time she starts an ad read based on how good the transition was 😂
I went into this movie just for Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. I left the film very happy. It was that good with the wonderful surprises. It won’t save the MCU, but it’s a worthy farewell to the Fox/Marvel era.
Exactly, DaW is a one off because of Ryan, Hugh. Its more like a good bye note to the old marvel movies like Blade we enjoyed as kids. Douchney is back to business as usual...you know...captain non america: brave new crap...and others
Yeah. This film was a 10 year commitment and passion project that came to fruition due to Ryan’s perseverance and sheer will. Disney had nothing to do with it and they’re sure as hell not going to change course.
This was like last years Barbie, where Mattel wanted to make a movie for all of their toys because Barbie did so well. Their main producer, Margo Robbie, had to fly a bunch of Mattel execs over to England where most of the sets were built, so they could see some of the scenes in action. ( Mattel was freaking out over the script, but chilled out when they saw Barbie in action )
He also poked HEAVY at Fox as well as the MCU. Literally at one point he grabs the camera, one of the boom mics and goes "Fuck you Fox, I'm going to Disneyland!" The mock at MCU is he's talking with wolverine and the TVA and goes to Wolverine "Welcome to the MCU, you joined at a really down point"
I also loved the cameos of Blake and also her and Ryan's children. Just awesome! Also the amount of times Ryan broke character and said Hugh or that he was telling Blake. Ryan is Deadpool, it's not a character, it's just Ryan.
Ellen Ripley from Alien, Sarah Connor from Terminator 1,2 , Xena the warrior princess, Buffy the vampire slayer. They are strong and they are Women, but most important they are human. With own strength and weakness.
I can tell you that as Marvels latest in a long line of saviors.. this movie did NOT kill the MCU. Was the BEST thing I’ve seen all year. Ryan and Shawn Brilliant writers and I can guarantee that if you didn’t mind the adult themes and language and jokes of the first two, you WILL enjoy this one. It was an absolute blast the whole way through and seeing those two together like that was a dream come true. They did not hold back, I can promise you that.
In the last 5 years, the only films which drew me to the cinema was Top Gun Maverick and Deadpool 3. I would have gone to Oppenheimer but that's the only 3 I've been interested in. I think the fact that men are able to show vulnerability, but not weakness (and it's an important difference), is excellent. This film does it perfectly. Both characters have got it wrong, and the message at the end, about not being able to change what you've done, but letting it remain as a building block in your life, was well sent.
I don't think Brett understands the years of suffering Marvel fans have been through to get to this point and the movie delivered on all levels. Literally the best Marvel movie in the past 5 years or so.
People don’t hate Disney, they hate bad writing (Edit) Basically what I meant was no one would be mad as Disney if they stoped writing shallow stories and tried to get progressive brownie points. Yes, lots of people hate Disney now, but its because of the terrible writing and agendas they’re spreading- classic Disney that we all used to love wasn’t like that
The problem is while these crazy fun movies work, they only work in contrast to good serious movies. If they start making every movie a copy of deadpool or even just don’t fix their more serious super hero movies deadpool will have nothing to play off.
When postmodern movies started coming up, they could play with tropes and do interesting things - sometimes hitting that perfect balance between satirizing something and being a working example of that thing (where the genre has a sophisticated language and can eloquently examine some aspect of the human condition). But once everything is Rick and Morty, Futurama or Community, then you're often dealing with a photocopy of a fragment of something no one really remembers - or trapped referencing the same 10 classic movies. If I see another "come with me if you want to live" variant, I'll scream. They could wilfully misinterpret the success, but under normal conditions Hollywood will learn the incorrect lesson from a failure or success. Deadpool has likeable leads and is something different. Disney might create deadpool clones and then immediately hit a point of saturation. They could view having a successful lineup as akin to a diet. If you have the same dish repeatedly, you'll get sick of it, or develop malnutrition.
@@retnuh1262 Is Thor crying???? WHY IS HE CRYING??? (probably the last shot of "Avengers: Doomsday" and Deadpool will say to Thor, "This is why you are crying...")
No DEI; no "body positivity"; no perfect Mary Sues surrounded by incompetent males; strong masculine bodies are revered; and although the actress who portrays the villain goes by they/them pronouns in real life, they didn't bring that to the movie where she's just a normal "she". I loved the film. I watched it twice and will probably go a third time.
Movie companies would be so much more successful if they were run by people who actually care about movies, and I think that's what made the Deadpool movies so great. Ryan loves this character and wants to give him the film adaptations he deserves, and I think his passion shows in the quality of writing and how hard he works on these movies. Simply put Disney needs production teams that care about their work and not just how lucrative it is if they wanna keep this streak up.
I’m so happy you talked about this brett. I went to watch it on opening night and it was comedy at its finest . And I will say it again , people just want to be entertained . They don’t need to give us a message in every movie . The movie was great and I’ll probably go watch again
I watched Deadpool opening night on my birthday and that was definitely one of the most fun movies I’ve seen recently. People complaining about the plot. Who gives a crap? Just go have fun.
@@NielsenDK-1 Well not just America,in my country (Indonesia) one of a Critic not that impress with the movie cuz' the movie nothing but a fan service.
@@everestcomputer Something is wrong when the sequel to the sequel is the topic of the year😂 It is the weakest of the Deadpools, and multiverses just don't do anything good for any plot story telling wise. Logan is dead😘
When I watched the movie in theatres with my parents and friends, the entire audience sang every single song that played, it was like a flipping concert. everyone was singing, laughing, crying, it was a very bonding experience. it was just good vibes and I could even hear the staff singing along with us when I got out of the theatre, I could hear multiple studios in the cinema that are also playing the movie just belting out songs and even yells of encouragement when there's a fight scene. I beg of marvel to just make good stories like this, we don't care about agenda, just please make good stories that people can enjoy. fun fact : my dad watched the premiere and watched it 3 more times with us and his own friends because it is that good, and that's saying something because he usually sleeps when watching a movie note : english is not my first language
Proof that people don’t hate gay representation in movies, they just dont want it shoved in their faces and getting progressive brownie points. Yes, Deadpool is pansexual, and I dont give a crap because he’s actually funny and not pushing an agenda AHEM ACOLYTE ❤️💛
There are 3 in the movie, whatever Deadpool is, Negasonic Teenage Warhead and her girlfriend. In the second Deadpool movie she even said on making her character gay "as long as you don't make a big deal about it".
To be fair, if deadpool had a homosexual male relation instead of the girl, the movie would have flopped, they would have called it woke it only worked because the audience knew he had a girlfriend, so him making gay jokes was acceptable
As a comic nerd I can tell you that Deadpool has constantly been down to “do” anything and everything with or WITHOUT a pulse for most of his comic time. Do with this info what you will lol
Considering Deadpool (2016) had the 44th largest opening weekend, and Deadpool 2 had the 48th largest opening weekend, it’s pretty impressive that Deadpool 3 jumped 30 spots higher into 6th opening weekend. Just saying.
When I went and saw it over the weekend the theatre was PACKED at 4pm. The whole theatre had a great time and was enjoying every second of this film. Just goes to show how the consumer is still loyal to the products and brands that they feel are quality.
I just came back from watching the movie for the second time and honestly it was the best marvel movie I've seen in a long time. I hope Disney can use this as a learning moment for what to do forward.
Lol I saw the movie yesterday and the only complaint I had was that the OST (Slash by Stray Kids) wasn’t in the movie. It quite honestly was the first time in a long time that I walked out of a movie theater loving a movie.
Deadpool & Wolverine proved one thing: Audiences want fun, excitement, humor and thrills. They don’t want political agendas nor woke propaganda. This movie was a love letter to the fans.
LOVED this movie, I'm a single dad and got a break dropping the kid off at a sleepover. I got home and went OH SHIT Deadpool just came out! Found a theater 3 seats away from selling out last Friday and got myself a beautiful secluded yet centered seat. Definitely going again.
Went to the movies without having watched even a trailer and was the best feeling ever, felt like a little kid again when going to the movies was an adventure. From the get go i get deadpool dancing nsync, i knew this was going to be worth it.
I never saw Deadpool and Wolverine, but I can tell it's like a superhero/buddy comedy/satire. It shows Hollywood CAN create movies again, just GET RIDE OF AGENDA.
Saw this opening day and a theatre packed full of people, just wanting an escape and to have a good time, was SO refreshing. Had an absolute blast, will definitely see it again. Everyone laughing together and enjoying this together, was such an experience
Deadpool&wolverine was the last movie i enjoyed since end game and miles morales but thats literally about it. The movie really brought the feeling of being in the cinema again 🥺
This movie was goof proof! The two characters and the actors who brought them to life were bound to be in a movie together. Also, given wolverine’s back story there is no way he’s into dudes. 😂
One factor that I realized (unpopular opinion) that made this movie a massive success is that the former Fox Marvel films have to be a rollercoaster experience for the Fox studios. Then the production team of this movie intertwined the good and bad points of the Fox and MCU to make an explosion of references with the ability of breaking the 4th wall. Then the two actors have great chemistry on and off the camera. As a sum of all these parts, it was a weird concoction or recipe for a very successful and highly anticipated box office hit.
YES!!! I just saw this movie on Friday and was so impressed. Deadpool and his lack of a filter made for a hilarious self reflection of Disney and the MCU. I hope the MCU only improves from here!
Deadpool and Wolverine is what I consider a awesome rollercoaster. While a flawed film but with incredible action, classic good humor/comedy and amazing chemistry and performances from Reynolds and Jackman. I will say Deadpool and Wolverine doesn't save the MCU and Disney but it does give a fresh start and a lesson that hopefully both Disney and the MCU don't take for granted.
This movie was sooo good! Basically a 2 hour fan service roast of EVERYTHING people have taken issue with in superhero movies & Fox/Disney! But Brett would have to be subjected to watching all OG 2000's superhero movies to get 30% of the jokes n' references made in this movie
When Wolverine got down and did his classic crawl attack, I went crazy. I almost cried thinking shit we probably aren't going to get much more Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and why did all the dopest stuff come at the end.
The bad news is you can feel the tension from Disney over this movie, how Disney Execs poo pooed calling this the first R rated 4 quadrant movie. I am sure there are a lot of people in Disney and Hollywood that wanted this movie to fail. I was a Fing great movie!
Ryan Reynolds said that it isn’t that Deadpool is Pansexual, he’s just hyper sexual and just gets weirdly attracted to things in an interview but it was also supposed to be in a joking way too 4:42
Dune 2, Deadpool & Wolverine, Twisters, and The Fall Guy have all been great experiences at the theatre this year. So excited for Wicked and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 later this year.
