Dear Future Wife - Spoken Word Lyrics
Dear Future Wife,
I'm not sure if we've met yet, but I don't beleive that it's too soon to write this letter
My mind and heart is trying to put these words and letters together into this poem for you.
I often dream and imagine what you're like.
Like what's your name and what are your dreams?
I wonder where you are and I'm curious about your life
I want to know if you share my passion for art and chocolate Ice Cream
I can't wait until you tell me about your favorite movies and songs.
and I'll soon discover, What gives you joy and what makes you smile?
I'm curious about our future. When will we meet and what will make us fall in love?
How I will finally realize that you are the one?
Even though I often sing with Buble "I just haven't met you yet" I still know that you are beautiful and amazing,
I don't have to see you to believe that a moment will come when my eyes
and my heart decide that you are the most enchanting part of the world
because one day you will become my whole world.
I realize that I'm not just writing about a fairy tale.
I've heard enough stories told and I know that even knights and princesses face dark ages.
The truth is happily ever will not be the last pages of our journey.
We will face failure, patience, and pain,
but I promise to remain faithful by constantly serving
And together our love will become something amazing
Some may think these resolutions are strange
they say being single and young
is just about partying, sex, and having some fun
They say real lasting love is too hard to find
and it's foolishly redefined as a feeling or desire
They act like love is a fire that quickly burns out and hurts anyone around
I think they believe the best things are required to come quickly like on demand and fast food
But they're wrong because there's no microwave version of me and you
And sometimes lust, loneliness, and doubt tempts me to not be patient anymore
But I'm reminded that the fruit that is sweetest and flower that blooms brightest are the one's worth waiting for.
I think about how we've anticipated our future together for our whole lives
oh, it will be soon that we look into each other's eyes
We will vow to belong to each other til death do us part
and then we will each give all of our heart
Our lives will be changed when these patient dreams become our reality, when you and me become we
But until then, I'm thinking of you and I'm praying for you
And even though you probably don't hear this poem I know that God hears our desires and prayers
One day at the right time we will enjoy what God has prepared
we'll look back and know that God's plan was so much better than we ever dreamed.
One day,
But today we're following Jesus and enjoying life
Knowing that there will be a beautiful story that God will write
Until we meet soon, you and I will be patiently waiting
